I went in for dinner tonight before 7:30pm. The sign said open until 9pm, but the chairs were all up, the music was off, the lights were dim & the only employee was emptying the trash & didn't seem to want to be bothered. It was not at all welcoming so i went to another location (on Hawthorne in Torrance) which was great! I get that employees want to leave ASAP, but you're losing business.

Chicken is juicy and good. I would go with the veggies because they are crisp and fresh. I don't like the tofu. Nice Asian couple runs this place.

Ordered the chicken and beef plate and let me tell you what a disappointment..... both chicken and beef were dry and tasted old

"No MSG! No Skin! No Frying! No Transfat!" Reading those phrases on The Flame Broiler posters, I was definitely intrigued. I love good, healthy eats and The Flame Broiler looked like a promosing place for this. I came to The Flame Broiler with some coupons that came from the mail. I used a $1 off coupon for "The Works" bowl. "The Works" bowl comes with chicken, beef and steamed veggies. I chose to get it with brown rice versus white rice. I was pleasantly pleased that getting brown rice over white rice did not cost any more. Not having to pay extra for brown rice is a rarity nowadays. I got The Flame Broiler magic sauce on the side. I also got the spicy sauce on the side. "The Works" bowl was really good! It was nice to see that the bowl had it's fair share of chicken and beef on top of the brown rice and veggies. Both the chicken and the beef were flavorful but I liked the chicken the best. It was tender and very tasty. The veggies were good but the cabbage was a tiny hard. I did dip the veggies and chicken in the magic sauce but the sauce was not very "magical" for me. I felt the sauce was a bit on the salty side. The spicy sauce was better in my opinion than the regualr sauce. I felt the spicy sauce had a hint of tabasco. Honestly I was fine with my bowl without the sauces. It's tasty enough to not need the sauce. It was my first at The Flame Broiler and I found the bowl I ate very fulfilling. It's actually surprisng in how good it is and how much food they packed in that bowl! I will be back!

Stopped by here before hitting the gym. Got a chicken bowl with veggies and no rice, (don't judge me). The guys here added more chicken for me without asking and I can't complain! Hot, fresh, tasty, and juicy chicken! Love the spot they're in. Olde Torrance is adorable and having this next to my gym is perfect. Definitely recommend!

First off, check out the pics I took at this Flame Broiler: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/w9TUdKdTbd1Il53E3a1eVA?select=-2qildcJTj32PP9k_q-Vpg ok...I LOVE Flame Broiler! This one is as awesome as the others when it comes to food! Although the parking here sucks, I would say that the customer service at this one is by far the best out of all the other ones I've been to! The food is affordable, healthy, it fills you up and it kicks Yoshinoya's ass like I've said in my other review of another Flame Broiler! Like I said, the customer service here is probably the best! Their staff are always friendly and helpful, especially if it's your first time. They have really helped my aunt and my girlfriend feel welcome! It's very very very clean inside and very spacey for a small place! Another cool thing about this particular Flame Broiler is it's really nice outdoor patio, which also has umbrellas outside for shade! The only bad thing like I said earlier is the parking.....that's all...but that doesn't stop me from giving this place 5 stars!

Tofu bowl, with brown rice, vegetables, and green onion.

Torrance Food Crawl #5 Many years ago I visited this branch, a few weeks after they had opened. I have little memory of that visit except that I wasn't overly impressed. Since then I've visited several other The Flame Broiler outlets and have come to like their cuisine. The menu is pretty simple, a rice bowl or plate, with white or brown rice, with chicken, beef, or tofu, and some vegetables and onion. Optionally, this branch will also add Kimchi for $2 more. This time I went for the regular size Tofu bowl, with brown rice, vegetables, and onion toppings. The rice was more white than brown (I guess they make brown rice the same way a lot of Chinese places make it, take some white rice and mix it some brown soy sauce), however, it was still good tasting. The tofu was ample and pretty tasty as tofu goes. The optional vegetables and onion were fresh and added some additional flavor. There are several sauce choices; I didn't try the 'magic' sauce this time, but I did try the 'hot' and 'hot hot' sauces. The orange colored 'hot' sauce is saltier and uses red peppers, while the 'hot hot' sauce uses less salt and green chilis. To my taste the 'hot' is fine, while the 'hot hot' is definitely hotter but doesn't have as much taste to it. Overall, the regular sized bowl is filling, good tasting, and pretty healthy too.

[Review #142] 2016 Yelp 100 Challenge (4/100) Flame Broiler is comparable to Beef Bowl except it seems healthier (protein is not fried, but "flame broiled" & chicken is skinless) & slightly costlier than its competition. I took a late lunch & couldn't find anything in the fridge, so I trekked my way over to FB. Flame Broiler is located next to my go-to Thai restaurant, Khun 9 Thai Restaurant. There's a small parking lot located behind the restaurant. Since it was a late lunch, I either missed the lunch crowd or this location typically is not crowded. Upon entry, I noticed the well-lit & clean dining area. Since this was my 1st time, I kept it simple & just ordered the 7 oz. chicken plate to-go. When the cashier started asking me questions, then I looked up & noticed the "order board." You start with the order size (i.e. mini, regular, or plate) & protein/entrée (i.e. chicken, beef, the works, chicken or beef veggie in regular, or 1/2 + 1/2, ribs); white or brown rice; green onions; beverages, extras, or sides; & where you would like to eat: dine in or takeout. Simple efficiency! So efficient that my order was ready in minutes. There's 2 places where you can load up on hot sauces, by the register or on a counter to the left of the order line. The counter was clean & well-stocked of your essentials: hot sauces, condiment containers, napkins, etc. Nothing turns me off more than a dirty, sticky counter with low or no supplies, & greasy, sticky condiment bottles; FB was c-l-e-a-n!! It took me about 15-minutes to walk home. I was surprised that the rice was still piping hot, but the chicken was bordering on lukewarm. :-| The "sauce-basted" chicken was not saucy at all. I don't mean saucy that it's oozing liquid, but the meat was quite bland that I had to dump a lot of hot sauce on it to give it some oomph. The chicken was also somewhat dry. Maybe instead of basting the chicken, they should marinade it... by doing so, it might make the meat more tender? 7 oz. is a lot of chicken but I was super hungry (I have a little one that I'm nursing); the plate had just enough chicken & cabbage salad to fill me up. And the orange was a nice touch to cleanse my palate & ending to my quickie lunch. FB provides a quick, decent meal if you need a pick-me-up, but it's average at best.

No need to worry about parking either, as there is a large (free) parking garage adjacent to the PV promenade it is located in. Pao de queijo: 10/10 addictive baked 3 cheese Brazilian popovers served with lime aioli sauce (which it didn't need, because it got us hooked the way Cheeze its gets us - once you start, you can't stop!) 2. Fried Calamari: 7.5/10, also served with lime aioli sauce and house made marinara sauce. Good but not spectacular and not something I would repeatedly pay $18 for. The only dish we would not get again. 3. Modena Salad: 9/10, what a delicious salad with butter lettuce, candied walnuts, crumbled goat cheese, shallots, Italian parsley, and balsamic vinaigrette. My only complaint is that the lettuce was not bite sized, but for $17 this was a scrumptious salad 4. seafood pan roast: 12.5/10, TO DIE FOR! snow crab, shrimp, and it's sweeter larger cousin, prawns, in jasmine rice with a delicious house garlic focaccia. $30 but totally worth every penny and every inch of stomach real estate. 5. Crème brûlée: 8/10, it was good but compared to the seafood pan roast, it was nothing spectacular (however, the seafood pan roast is a really high bar) TLDR: delicious food in a date worthy and business meal worthy restaurant. It's a causal spot, nice and clean with plenty of options. You place your order at the counter (you can use the ipad to order, except if you want the Fak'ed up fries, those you need to order with an employee). The shrimp - I could eat these forever. Holy toledos these are so good. I got the karaage chicken with the cheehoo teri sauce. The sauce is soooooo bomb. The chicken is perfectly cooked. And the red noon is the perfect addition of acidity. The Mac salad was great, stick to your ribs kinda good Now I ordered several other plates for my friend, including the teriyaki chicken, and the fak'ed up fries with shrimp and karaage chicken. He said the fak'ed up fries were fire, so good, he didn't even know that's exactly what he wanted. I have to come back to try them - I didn't know they were a thing bc they're not on the menu. But after I placed my original order I saw a video of the fak'ed up fries on their board and they looked so good, I had to buy them for him. There are a lot of new options and unfortunately no more chicken katsu. After my previous review, the owner actually reached out and offered to have me come back and try the food again, which I genuinely appreciated. I never took them up on the free food offer because I prefer to keep reviews honest, but the gesture still stood out to me. This time I ordered the 2-item combo with the honey sesame chicken karaage and kalua pork. The karaage was easily my favorite part of the meal. It was crispy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. I asked for all the sauces on the side and the green sauce paired really well with it. The kalua pork was tender, but a little sweeter than I personally prefer for traditional kalua pork, so I'd probably try a different protein next time instead. I also grabbed a spam musubi, but the portions were so generous that I didn't even get around to eating it until I got home later. While I still miss the old chicken katsu, I get that menus evolve, and overall this visit was a much better experience than my previous one.

I stopped in on a Tuesday for lunch and knew I was going to get the curry puffs. The last time I ordered these I was with a friend and had to share but not this time. I was on a solo lunch and looking forward to the puffs! To say they are "perfect" seems insufficient. They were fried incredibly well, hot, crunchy, tasty, but never greasy. And these little puffs were filled with minced beef, potatoes, and seasoning! For my main dish, I chose the dragon noodles (pad thai) with chicken. All the veggies in the dish were cooked perfectly, nothing too mushy, just the right amount of crunch/bite to the cabbage, broccoli, and carrots. And the chicken was chunky! And while I loved everything about the dish, the sprinkling of the crushed peanuts was *chef's kiss*. There's no skimping on those peanuts here. It had a light and savory broth that was comforting. It had a good umami rich miso flavor and made for a good soothing start for the meal. Up next, we got to try the Fried Rice with Char Siu. The Fried Rice had a surprising reddish color that perfectly matched the char siu. It added a nice visual cue to the sweet, smoky flavor. The Ladybug Fried Chicken was my favorite. It was freshly fried, golden and crispy. I enjoyed the juicy and tender meat and the crunchy outside. It is served with rice, green salad and potato-mac. I wish there was an option to upgrade to fried rice because this fried chicken really paired well with the fried rice. Nevetheless, I did enjoy this chicken with the potato-mac as well.
