I heard the Five Guys grilled cheese sandwich was good, so i had to check it out. We walked in and placed our togo order. It was about a 5 minute wait. The staff was friendly. The grilled cheese is on a burger bun thats flipped inside out and it has a little more cheese than a regular cheeseburger. Its about $2.70 to add a patty to the sandwich. It came to about $10 for JUST the burger. I do love a good burger, but i wish they had a cheaper option for a burger with fries. I like that if you order fries its kinda plentiful. But you've gotta like handcut fries. The fries are pretty good, but they get limp kinda quickly. If you want flavor on your burger don't forget to ask for cajun seasoning or your burger will just be unseasoned meat thats grilled. It leaves more to be desired. The cajun seasoning helped the burger out and it was pretty good. My only complaint is the burger gets soggy kinda quickly. So eat it asap. 3.5 stars Five Guys!! read more

No complaints after several trips here over the past couple years! This Five Guys location lives up to the standard of the chain. It always looks clean and well-lit inside. They've taken measures to combat COVID, such as limiting occupation. As of 5/25/21, all employees were still wearing masks. Today I ordered a little hamburger with a variety of toppings and a little fry. It cost a little over $12 which seemed steep, but the fry order was certainly generous for being a "little fry". There were only a couple of others waiting on food at the same time as me, and one customer already dining at a table. It took between 5-10 minutes for my food to be ready. The fries were especially hot and fresh- and perfectly salted. The burger had generous servings of all my requested toppings. When my order was ready, I was offered ketchup and malt vinegar packets to go. The only challenge? Trying to wait until I got home to eat those yummy fries! I have to agree with Christine T. on this one, Five Guys is over-rated. I'm guessing that due to the fact this place is a franchise, you can't always guarantee the same quality at each restaurant. I've seen the reviews in several big magazine's naming Five Guys "The Best Burger Joint" but I would really prefer to go to a place like Red Robin and order a fantastically delicious burger from them over Five Guys. There is just too much grease with Five Guys' burgers. I will admit that the fries are definitely worth the trip though. I've tried the dogs here too and they aren't that bad, but it's something I could make at home...better. The staff is always nice, but they always seem to be in a rush. My parents love Five Guys and have made it a small tradition to go every Friday night to the one near their home. I don't know how this will sit on their waists, but they enjoy it. read more

A very decent Five Guys locations here at Fairfield Shopping center. The location is easily twice as large as the one I normally visit out out Battlefield Blvd. The order time to table was also exceptionally fast and we were eating out lunches about 6-7 minutes after placing the orders. And let me tell ya, I had about 2 tons a fries in my bag too. There was actually a larger volume of fries in the bag than in the cup and while I shouldn't have... Ordering online is not faster than walking in and ordering. They'll make your burger when you place your order and it'll sit in a bag until you get there. When you get there at the time your order will be ready according to the email they tell you they're waiting on the fries. Might as well just walk in and place your order. I really enjoy the way they make their burgers, and all the toppings are always extremely fresh! The staff at this location are super friendly. This reminds me of the old Fudrucker's that used to be on Virginia Beach Blvd. The french fries come in massive portions, even a small has extra scoops in the bag. They have salted peanuts to munch on too. I didn't realize they have hot dogs! They do! I got one after my seeing my friend's... they slice it in half and grill it and then it goes on the bun fitting all neatly with the toppings. NOT dribbling off the top. I've ordered delivery from this location twice so far during the COVID quarantine, from different services, and both times have been absolutely flawless. (Unlike an incident with the golden arches recently..) The fries? Still crisp like they just came out of the fryer. Hot and fluffy on the inside. Oops, I ordered Cajun fries on accident? No matter, they were just as good with a little zip zang on them. Burgers were hot, and the buns didn't succumb to the steaming effect of being wrapped in foil. Have you ever spent a good amount of money on food and became so disappointed that you wasted your money on garbage? That happened to me yesterday. I had one of the most disgusting burgers ever from five guys. I decided during my lunch break to give this place a try. Initially I was thrown for a loop when the total came up to $18.00. The employees are very nice and environment is chill with a big lobby catering to lots of seating. Greeted immediately upon walking in which is nice. Let's say someone comes up to you and offers you two paper bags. This mysterious person eludes to the fact that there very well may be a burger and fries in these bags. One of the bags appears to be well kept and neatly printed. The other, nearly falling apart due to the sheer amount of weight, appears to be filled to the brim and smelling oddly like something you would want to put in your mouth. If you chose the latter bag, then you are a friend of mine. Five Guys, in all of it's Peanut Oil greasiness, gives an overwhelming amount of topping options, surpassed only by the number of fries they bury your burger with when they hand you the bag. The atmosphere is lackluster and self-promoting, but it is overshadowed by the boxes of free peanuts they offer you for your nibbling pleasure. The prices may be a little steep when you think, "It's just a burger", but when you pile it high with toppings and smother it with A1 sauce, then it's fair. Plus, do you really want to settle for McDonalds? There's nothing happy about that meal. read more

I went to Five Guys Burgers and Fries last week for the second time. My relatives in Virginia Beach keep raving about this place making comparisons to In 'N Out Burger from California. They said it was better than In 'N Out so I had to go and taste it for myself. The restaurant is fairly big enough with an adequate amount of parking. It's a fast food joint so you get your food pretty promptly. They've got an abundance of peanuts that they give as appetizers for their customers. I ordered a cheeseburger and some cajun fries. The cheeseburger is pretty good. It's a bit on the messy side but it's a nice big portion. I can't say it's better than In 'N Out but its definitely pretty good. I took mine to go and they wrapped the burgers in aluminum foil. The cajun fries are really good though. They have a nice small spicy flavor to them. This restaurant is pretty good. I recommend them to anyone looking for a good burger in the Virginia Beach area. read more

There are very few places I would pay $12.58 for a Cheeseburger, Fries, and A Medium Tea, especially when the environment is that of a fast food place. That being said, Five Guys does serve one hell of a burger!!! If you leave Five Guys hungry, it is your fault. The menu descriptions on sizes are accurate--- except on their fries. A "Small" will sate two people, and a "Large" is gargantuan. Oh, and about those fries? They are hand cut. They even keep a board up telling you where the days potatoes for the fries have come from. The burgers are juicy, and you receive them wrapped in aluminum foil-- which you will want to leave down to catch your drippings, because these are the kind of great burger that is messy to eat. The buns are also perfect- lightly toasted and a good flavor. Oh and for those little things that make you oh so happy? Crushed ice. I wish I knew why I think it is so much better, but I do. The environment is that of a 1950's burger joint/ mashed with modern minimalism. Red and white tile floors, similarly color themed ceiling lamps, and walls. Framed Newspaper articles talking about the success of the franchise. There are peanut buckets full of peanuts to munch on if you find you can't wait the less than five minutes it takes for your food to be ready. This is not a quite place to eat. The radio is loud, noticeably so, but not headache inducing.There is also a bulletin board with a few crayons and index cards for you to leave the very friendly staff (who will greet you as come, and wish you a great day as you leave) a message if you like. read more

Five Stars for the Five Guys. My classmates and I used to go here every other day after class. The place is located near a grocery store so there's a lot of parking. Inside the restaurant, you'll find boxes of peanuts scattered around for customers to nibble on as you wait for your order. The place is well lit and very open. The food is made to order, so your burgers will always be fresh. The size of the burgers are very healthy. Not too big, but not too small. The one thing that's big is their portions for their fries. I recommend you order regular size fries instead of the large. They basically put the fries in a cup which makes the thing overflow and so they just toss the rest of what they cooked in the bag for good measure. Whenever I go there, I always get a bacon cheeseburger and cajun fries. Its a great lunch. read more

This is one of the best burger joints in Virginia Beach! The comparison of Five Guys to California's In-n-Out is on the money! I was raised in Ventura County and In-n-Out was (and still is) the jump off! So imagine my surprise when I decided to try Five Guys after so many people said how good their burgers were, and I immediately made the comparison. The burgers are made to order and not sitting in some warmer waiting for somebody to order them. If there are only two of you, you only really need to get 1 order of fries, as they give you so many, it's hard to finish all of them by yourself....and I'm talking about the small!!! My only complaint is the lack of combo meals. They are kind of expensive, so it is not a once a day or week spot (unless you got it like that). Slightly over-rated. My husband and I went this past Sunday for lunch due to a colleague's suggestion. We knew it was a burger joint - plain and simple and did not expect anything fantastic. We didn't get anything overly fantastic either. It was very average and costly. Most fast food burgers aren't that great, but I honestly could not tell the difference between Five Guys' Burgers and a Wendy's burger... seriously. My husband and I each got regular size burgers, 2 regular sized drinks and a larger size fry (the one that feeds 3 people) and it cost us just under $16. I also thought my eardrums were going to pop by the volume of the music in the place. While the choice of music was fun and upbeat, the volume made my head spin. Both my husband and I were not overly impressed... I know that these burgers are "never frozen", but you know what? Neither are Wendy's burgers and they taste exactly the same. Their fries were very average too. Fun place to hang out if you're a teenager or bored... Honestly though, the burger's I've tried from TGIF, Max & Erma's and Uno's are much better albiet a bit more expensive. I'd rather pay a bit more for better tasting and better atmosphere. read more

We enjoy going to all five guys restaurants in Virginia beach and the one in nags head, NC. They never fail to be awesome. The burgers are great and the fries are awesome. I walked in, saw the price for a "little cheeseburger" and walked out. Would you pay almost $9.00 for a burger only? I imagine the price increases have been caused by the pandemic. As much as I wanted a good burger and their burgers have always been good, I could not spend as much as the asking price for a cheeseburger.
