I woke up at 5:00am to an exterior spigot which busted due to the cold weather. Wouldn't you know it, it was on the morning before flying out for a long weekend get away. Left a message for Five Plumbing LLC around 6:20am, and Noel got back to me in a jiff. Maybe 30 minutes later at most, what a relief! I shut the water to the house, scheduled an appoint with Noel for 8:00am on the first morning upon my return. Noel texted me the day before to confirm his visit. Taught me a few things about how my dishwasher and garbage disposal interact which will be helpful if it stops working again. I had a toilet issue and only have 1 bathroom so it was rather urgent that it needed to be fixed. He asked me to text him a picture of the issue so he knew exactly what the problem was and what needed to be done, what he needed to bring, was able to work me in within a few hours, gave an estimate up front - no surprises, text me when he was on the way, clearly knew what he was doing and on top of all of that is just a SUPER nice guy. I am so excited to finally have a plumber I trust in Chicago. I was having drainage issues in a bathroom: toilet flushed fine, but the other pipes in the bathroom were gurgling every time I flushed. And there was an awful sewer smell coming in. After researching on my own, it appeared there could be a major issue with the plumbing vents. I called a few places who were going to charge 300+ to come out and look at it. After calling Noel, he immediately asked: how often do you use the shower in there? I said never. He said the u pipe under the shower drain likely dried out which was why the water swishing sound was happening in the drain. He had me run the shower for 30 seconds. It was a miracle - that simple suggestion fixed it! No more smell, no more gurgling. He also took time over the phone to explain the plumbing setup to me (I like learning these things). I am happy i finally "gotta guy" for my future plumbing issues in Chicago as Noel was a good samaritan today and fixed a problem over the phone others were going to charge out the ass for.
