One of our go to pizza places. They have good thin crust and ample toppings. Sauce is one of the best in the area.

Our server at Gilligan's last night recommended we order our pizza for the IU vs OSU game from Five Star Pizza. I read the reviews and they were not the most favorable. Sadly, I am not sure what pizza standards they live by, but our party of 4 thought the pizza was fantastic. I would compare it to pizza I make in my OONI pizza oven. The pizza arrived as promised, was piping hot, and our delivery gent was polite and very personable. I would rate this experience as a 10 if that was possible! Go HOOSIERS!!! read more

Early in December of 2024, I received a coupon for $12.00 gift card for an order (attached). It states, "NO STRINGS ATTACHED." I went to make an order for delivery and was told that even though I had the gift card and the discount, I had to order at least $25 and pay for a delivery fee. i.e. I had to order food that I did not want if I wanted to use the gist card. The last review It's not goodbye forever, we will see you again at a different location. I stopped in today for a pizza and learned they are just days from closing. Five Star has already opened a larger place on Bee Ridge Rd where they also offer dining in. This Stickney Point location is takeout or delivery only. I believe delivery will shift to that Bee Ridge store, which is where Dino's Pizza was for so long. My visit today was fine. I ordered at the counter and just hung around for under 10 minutes until my 12" All Meat pizza was ready. After getting it home I enjoyed most of it, saving some to show my wife I didn't eat an entire pizza by myself this time. Per a managers admittance, the online ordering does not always come across right. They brought me a new Pizza, (Tipped the driver 5.00 for redelivery), and seems he was confused when I offered him the other Pizza. He made out plus an extra 5.00 tip, and the customer ate both tips, and had to deal with John, the manager that hung up on me.. This restaurant is a nice place to visit when you are in Sarasota. I have had their pizzas from their Gainesville location.we had to try this one while we are here. The outside looks like it is kept in good condition. The inside is clean with little wear and tear. The service is fast here. Everyone you talk to is eager to help. The manager gave us a two dollar hotel discount after we ordered. We did not know about that discount until after we ordered. The food was amazing. It is in the top three pizzas I ever had and I have had pizza in many countries and states across the u.s. you will not find a better pizza. The cost is relatively low also. Receive a coupon set in the mail a few months ago, finally decided to try to use it. Ordered pizza online @ regular price, and entered the coupon, which didn't reflect on the pricing - so I made extensive notes in both the special instructions and the delivery notes section to please ensure that they correctly adjusted the price for the specific coupon I had (which is still valid). Pizza was delivered on time, but the non-coupon price was requested. When I questioned it, the driver told me he mentioned the coupon notes to the store when he picked up, and the store told him that the website states for me to call them if the coupon doesn't work online and I didn't call, so they aren't honoring it. I ordered ONLINE as I was busy @ work on calls and could NOT call... so they send out coupons to solicit new business, and then despite knowing there are coupon use issues (as was openly stated to me by the delivery driver), do nothing to take care of the customer. Nice scam. While the pizza wasn't bad (wasn't Extra Cheese as was ordered) - it's certainly not good enough to negate honorable customer service. There are LOTS of better places that respect their customers. Won't be ordering from them again. *** UPDATE - 08/20/2020 - Review posted on 08/13 and as you can see, the owner replied to the review within a few hours - requesting I contact her directly via her email. 08/14/2020 @ 5pm emailed her at the provided email address...and to date, there has NOT been any reply. My new favorite pizza place. Pizza was very good. Delivered early which is why i am commenting. When i ordered i didn't expect it to come early so i went up to pick up my children from school. Pizza delivery guy calls and i explain what has happened and apologized for his inconvenience. To my astonishment he suggested he would bring it up (about a mile away) to me in my vehicle. I was shocked he was very nice and accommodating and i received it on the side of the road versus how this would have went if it was dominoes ( been there). I'm a loyal customer at Five Star. It's been my favorite pizza restaurant for the last 6 years. But since the new ownership, the quality has went way down. The pizzas are substantially thinner, many times over cooked, once way undercooked, recently a long brown hair, I called to let them know and they just said "ok thanks" no apology, no refund. We had a BOGO coupon, so thought we would try this and save money. Expectations were low for pizza. When I walked in, two employees behind glass didn't have masks on but put them on as I walked up. The pizzas were ready and the employees could not have been nicer. They were not wearing gloves as I remember. The pizza was about what I expected. Not the worst. I think it could have been better if it wasn't cooked as long. The crust gets chewy when cooked to a light brown. The cheese quality is not great. There wasn't a lot of sauce so tough to judge sauce. It wouldn't take much to improve but it was about what I expected going in. $14 for two large one topping pizzas is definitely a good deal and worth a star. read more

I've lived near 5 Star Pizza for a while bet never noticed it. The other day I received a coupon in the mail for a free small cheese pizza, so I looked it up and decided to check it out. I'm very glad I did because the pizza was delicious. The cheese has a rich flavor, unlike many of their competitors pies do, so good that I didn't even regret not adding toppings. We're staying near the Stickney Point Bridge location, on Siesta Key. Being from western NY, we are what you might call pizza snobs. It's not easy to find a good pie in FL, but I'd recommend five star. Flavor is good, and the pepperoni is plentiful. Not sure what to say about the wings. We ordered them hot, and they were. Funny thing is we ordered them crispy, thinking they were deep fried, like back home. You know, Buffalo Wings, right? But they didn't come out crispy- more like they were cooked in a broiler. Some were dark, maybe in an attempt to make them crispy like we wanted. They tasted ok, but still wondering how they're cooked. But it's a very good New York style. It is very, very reasonably priced. Not yet ready for prime time! I've bought pizza from their Stickney Point location which is carry out $ delivery only so I heard they took over the Dino's store which is closer to home. It's quite obvious that they are still renovating this location and it's not yet desirable for an eat in experience. The pizza was great but not the best in the area. The A/C is so overwhelming that I struggled to consume my food before it cooled down due to the draft. They offer some special deals including salad bar....but the salad bar was not stocked...totally empty. Throughout my meal I was subject to sawing and hacking noise from obvious work being done getting the store ready. If I ran this place I would have completed this before inviting guests to eat in. Only half the dining area was stocked with tables. I suggest letting these guys get completely ready before paying them a visit to have a pleasant dining experience! Super fast. Like i think i got it in like 15 minute from ordering online. They had a deal for 2 large one topping pizzas and they let extra cheese be a topping! How awesome is that. The delivery dude was very cool. Honestly at the time i wasnt sure about their times then after ordering i realized i ordered like right before they were closing. But they still baked my pizza properly and didnt like you know retaliate for being a bit of a you know for ordering so close to closing time. smells really great and lots of cheese.
