And if not, this was surely an issue far beyond my level of expertise. Their earliest availability was the following Monday (4 days) later, which was sooner than I expected. They kept me on stand by for the following day (Friday), but no such luck. My service window was 9 AM - 12 PM and two technicians showed up directly to my door around 9:30. Also sooner than I expected. I was impressed not only by the timing but also their sense of direction. Getting to my condo unit can be confusing with the various gate entrances, but these guys clearly knew what they were doing. Most people get lost. Not these guys. This job required a water main shut off in my HOA and they knew exactly where to go. They were friendly and professional and in and out in under 1 hour 30 minutes. The only reason I am at 4 stars is because I was quoted $225 for the job, but was charged $325. That seems a bit off, but the job was done swiftly and so I didn't bother challenging them.

After a visit from Justin, I had to get a yelp account for the sole reason to leave a review. I live in a rental and the 6 year water heater exploded after a long productive 17 year run. I was able to get the old beast out and new one installed after cleanup, but the gate valve (life giver of water to the heater itself) was decroded and didn't want to release the sweet fluid of life into the new heating device. I called and spoke to Debbie at 4:55pm yesterday and was told that Justin had a full morning today, but could make it out at 2pm today. He showed up about 1:45 and after a brief chat and assessment, had a plan in place to get me some hot water. It was then I informed him that I had to walk across the street to retrieve my youngest small human from kindergarten, and when we returned less than 15 minutes later we found him waiting on the front porch notifying us of completion. He talked me through the process of how the ball valve was replaced, and during our conversation I learned about his family business and how he is carrying on a 30+ year tradition. To utilize the services of a local family owned business makes my heart happy, and I will definitely be calling them up after my next plumbing mishap. I was and am still blown away at how friendly he was and the utmost level of professionalism he carried. Annnnnd, the final price was less than the phone quote I received. So to make a short story long about how rad 5 Star Plumbing is, I would like for anyone seeking pluming services in the greater San Diego area to give these folks a call. read more

Call him. If you're in a pinch, don't read the full review, just call Justin and hope he can get you in. Prompt, honest and fair pricing. Those are the big bullet points. For those doing due diligence, see below: Had a broken pipe on my exterior spigot and only noticed after I saw water gushing out of a hole in my stucco wall. Immediately shut off the main valve and started making calls, Read all the reviews for his business (which the only ones that aren't 5 stars aren't credible). Justin was somehow able to fit me in after another appointment. He was fast in responding, diagnosed the issue, fixed it and gave me a fair price for the time/labor/expertise. If it was anyone else, I expected it to be 2-3x $$ and that I might be getting taken for a ride. The issue ended up being shoddy work by the last plumber before I bought the house (wrong type of pipe used for water). Justin then IDed another area that would eventually fail but didn't try to upsell me on it. Just said that if I wanted to fix it on my own, I could do it (showing me how) and he'd be around if I wanted to use him. Seriously, don't call anyone else in SD county. This is the best utility repair experience I've had in 15+ years and he has a repeat customer for life. read more

I cannot say enough good things about 5 Star Plumbing!! We are renovating our kitchen and needed some plumbing work done. We contacted at least 5 other plumbers for an estimate and got responses from a few but the majority ghosted us - even after coming over and talking to us about our project. I called Five Star Plumbing about a leak at my sister's house. She is disabled and lives in San Diego, and I live in Texas so obviously couldn't look at it. Debbie was so friendly and understanding and rearranged their schedule so Justin could go by and take a look right away. As it turned out, it was a dishwasher issue and didn't involve plumbing. First, they had an easy reservation system for online booking, I received a personal check in to confirm the appointment, they sent me a text to notify me when my technician Roby was on the way (and even included a photo so I knew who to expect at my door, which is much appreciated)! Just all around great communication and prompt responses from their office. Next, my technician Roby was so kind, knowledgeable and efficient. I appreciated that he was not only able to identify the problem quickly, but he explained what might have contributed to my garbage disposal needing replacement to avoid recurring issues in the future. While he was here, he also quickly fixed my toilet and even went above and beyond and helped me install my toilet seat when he saw that I had a new one sitting in the box in the corner of my bathroom! Two guys came from Paul's Plumbing to give me bid to install a Moen Flo leak detection device on my…read morewater supply pipe. Leak detection is a requirement by my insurance company Safeco because they want to leave California and they're coming up with all these obstacles to make me jump through in order for them not to renew me. They were already non-renewing me because I didn't have the Moen Flo installed. I would be providing the Moen Flo device which cost about $600 when I take it off another house where I'm not using it. Paws Plumbing noted that pressure regulator valve that I installed maybe 5 years ago was not working. So if I purchase the parts Paws Plumbing would install it for $800. The Moen Flo requires pipe modifications to be done at my house, because of the picture below, and extra parts. It is not a simple installation. I feel like the price is fair because another plumber, arrived at the same time as pause and he quoted $2,500 even if I provide the part and that is only for the installation of the Moen Flo alone not for the pressure regulator. The $2500 plumber waas the Owner of Core Plumbing in case you want to avoid paying more than you need to. The other plumbers didn't test the pressure regulator. Otherwise it could have made more money because it wasn't working right. And another plumber quoted $950 just for the labor alone to install the Moen Flo alone. So I'm giving Paws Plumbing five stars although I am not at the point to hire them for installation because I might get around it by changing my insurance. A solid 5 star plumber called Open Line, bid $350 to install the Moen Flo, if I provide the part, and later, I ALSO found that Moen has "bundle deal" with my insurance company (Safeco/Liberty Mutual) for $1000 including tax and the Moen Flo, which cost about $600, which means the installatio is aboaut $400. I learned, however, on my pipe configuration pictured below, modifications have to be made that would cost more.
