Ok, maybe I ate here before they really got their stuff down (it was about a month ago) but here is my honest review: The biggest thing that turned me off about this place is that after I gave my order, a girl came out of the house thing in the back with the ahi in a plastic gallon Zip-Loc bag. Fish really needs to be stored at the correct temperature to avoid any bacteria that can cause illness, and it just made me a little uncertain to see the fish like that. It was a really hot day and it made me question how sanitary this was (she wasn't wearing gloves or anything). But of course, the taste is the most important thing. I got the spicy ahi and the garlic shrimp with guac because I wanted to try everything (I live just 2 blocks away, I'd love to have a bomb sushi spot within walking distance) and it was so bad I threw the bowl away. The ahi was grainy, not buttery and the shrimp.... the sauce was just cream? It didn't have any flavor to it and the combination of the rubbery shrimp and the bland-liquid texture grossed me out. Guac also didn't seem like it was freshly made - it seemed like something bought in bulk. I don't recommend this place, brave the lines at Ono instead. read more

Would definitely come back again! I was looking on yelp for Poke places around waikiki beach and found this spot. I got a combo with seared garlic shoyu salmon (which was absolutely DELICIOUS), and spicy mayo salmon and she included something crispy on the top which was also great but I couldn't figure out what it was. It was a very hot day so I was slightly concerned about how the fish quality would be from a food truck, but it was extremely fresh and delicious, and the woman working was super sweet as well! read more

I might have had a too high of an expectation trying the place, or we may have irdered the wrong thing. My husband and i ordered the menu items Original Garlic... Tuna and the other Albacore (I think). We also had the ginger lemonade which was very good. The portion size for an order is enough, a small bowl. The poke comes with seaweed salad, which is always tasty. The best word that I can think of to describe what we felt after eating was, whelmed . It was ok, not bad, not spectacular. For what it's worth, I have not actually eaten a lot of poke in my life. I am a sushi lover and poke always sounds good but I hardly ever eat it. I was really craving it while visiting Hawaii though and we happened to pass this food truck. I had other more popular, well-rated poke restaurants on my Yelp "to-try" list in Waikiki, but after learning how busy restaurants can get there I decided to roll the trice on this little truck. Glad I did! I only had to wait a few minutes for my food, it was a good price, and the flavor was excellent! The fish was very fresh and had good texture too. I would highly recommend giving this place a chance if you're in Waikiki and you want to avoid some of the more crowded places. read more

Nice and quiet poke trailer in Waikiki. On the corner across the street from Blue Ocean is an unassuming trailer that serves some pretty good poke. The night we went, they ran out of salmon and tuna, so we tried the garlic shrimp and tako. Both were great. The shrimp were perfectly poached and the garlic was just right. The tako has ginger and sesame and it was good. Service was quick and friendly. read more

I knew I had to get poke whilst in Hawaii. It's a food truck, or food shack. Seating is picnic tables scattered around the area. I got the original garlic shoyu ahi - very very good. Perfect ratio of fish to rice too, and you also get a little scoop of seaweed salad. Also got a ginger lemonade, which was very tart, very gingery, and not very sweet (all good things). read more

This place is further south from all the big spots in Waikiki, so it's a bit quieter. There's also dressing shadings for you to enjoy your poke. I got the spicy ahi tuna and Wasabi salmon, which was quite tasty. However, the portions felt small relative to the price, and the seating area was invested with bids eyeing you as you eat. read more

This is a cute little poke food truck in Waikiki! They have some seating on the green turf right outside the truck, but I would usually get takeaway. Though my favorite poke place in Waikiki was maguro spot, I was in the mood to try an octopus poke one day! I found this little truck and saw that they had a miso tako bowl, and thought I'd try it. The poke was extremely flavorful and different than any other poke I've ever had! The portions are also surprisingly HUGE (something that isn't very common with poke). I was very happy to find this little spot. I've never tried any of the other bowls they've had here, but I recommend trying the miso tako bowl if you're a fan of octopus! read more

We went here on Sunday night, our second day on Oahu. Our hotel is close to this poke truck. And we also ordered from the shrimp truck that was in this food truck lot. My family was excited as it was our first time trying poke, and we were not disappointed. The lovely young man that took our order was very patient and guided us through the menu and also suggested the ginger drink. We had the spicy tuna and ginger salmon, and also the jalapeño salmon with guacamole and the ginger lemon drinks. Everything was delicious, and the drinks complimented the poke very well. Great recommendations! Wish we could give this place 6 stars, service with a smile, quick turnaround, and delicious food!! We will be back!! read more

Haven't rated a lot of places on yelp but this place doesn't have a ton of reviews and deserves 5 stars. Was looking for poke near our hotel in Waikiki and found this place on yelp. It is a small food truck with a couple other trucks nearby. Went into this place with no real expectations and was pleasantly surprised and impressed. Super fresh fish with good flavors (we got Garlic Shoyu Wasabi Salmon, Spicy Salmon, Garlic Shoyu Ahi, and Spicy Ahi) and rice was also very good. Not to mention they were extremely friendly! If you are staying in the Waikiki area and want a walkable poke place I would put this at the top of your list. Out of the places I have tried in Waikiki this is one of the best, very underrated. read more

The food was delicious and fresh. Definitely recommend the #8 which is the mayo shrimp. I asked for some chili paste in the side and it made it that much more delicious. The service was very good as well. The gentleman that took our food also prepares it so it may take a min for you to get it but they have signs saying it's fresh to order so it makes sense. The gentleman got our order wrong and we were given a #9 instead but he insisted we keep the wrong order and gave us the correct one. The ambiance is good as well. There are pigeons everywhere here on the benches that are here to eat in but if you shoosh them away they will leave you alone. Definitely recommend if this place is near you. read more

Found this cute little food truck area and decided to try the poke bowls. I had the ginger salmon and hubby tried the jalapeño salmon. They were so delicious, light to eat, perfect amount of flavour and a little bit of crunch. We stopped by a few more times and tried the seared salmon and spicy ahi which is so tasty!! Will be craving these poke bowls back home for sure. read more

Friendly inviting staff, nice area outside to eat. We got original garlic shoyu ahi and yuzu chili pepper ahi plate with guacamole topping. Poke plate 7/10, fish taste fresh, some white strings in pieces, felt not like the best cuts of tuna, rice wasn't the freshest. I definitely wanted to try some ahi while on vacation in Hawaii and I found this spot within walking distance of where I was staying and I was NOT disappointed. I loved the options available and the service was quick and friendly. I enjoyed a seat up at the bar seats overlooking the courtyard with picnic tables for the various food trucks. The albacore tuna and salmon poke here were both phenomenal. The price is reasonable, about $15 a bowl, and the fish is fresh and flavorful. This is a fantastic place to get a quick lunch or even better a takeout meal to have on the beach. read more

In Honolulu for holidays, I came here for the first time and I must admit that it has been a satisfying experience. The waiter was really cool, he gave us some good advices about what to pick and we felt really welcomed. When it comes to the food, the shrimp and salmon sounded fresh and tasty, and brown rice well cooked. Their guacamole is also really good. You'd think food truck food would be fairly fast...35 MINUTES for two of only nine choices on the menu! And there are only four choices of meat to choose from...all of which are RAW!! And there was only one person ahead of us in line, and he somehow got lucky and is gone already. How's the food? Don't know yet, don't care...we had plenty of time for a quick delicious lunch off the beaten path in Honolulu, but now we have to shovel it in or we will be late to an appointment! I will note, the HulaDog food truck in the same space had my other kids order made and out and he ate the whole delicious thing while we were STILL wondering how long it takes to put a scoop of rice and some ahi in a to-go container and squirt on some sauce?!?! Too many choices in the area to take this long...bad business! read more

Very fresh tasting poke, even ordered at 7 pm on a Saturday. They were out of rice due to an unexpected rush of customers, I was told, and I suppose this is not a bad problem to have. So, I ordered the poke a la carte. Great price compared with Maguro Spot, just down the street. Quality is just as good or even better. I ordered the 2-choice option. Had the spicy tuna. The sauce/mayo was tangy, which I liked, but I could have had a bit more spice. Also had the jalapeño salmon. The pepper is puréed and spread on top of the poke. It's a different method, but I also liked this change. They use fresh jalapeños, which is a must! (Picked jalapeños in any cuisine is anathema, in my opinion.) I also got a scoop of guacamole with my order (it's a small upcharge) and it was very good! Perfectly seasoned and fresh. I'm from Southern California, so I like to think I've been exposed to lots of guac in my day. This is some of the best I've had in a long time. The whole dish was covered with little crispy bits. I'm not sure what they were (I took my order to go, so I couldn't ask), but they were amazing! Really tied the whole thing together well and added a nice element of salt. I'm staying at a nearby condo for this month, and I can guarantee I'll be a repeat customer at this place! read more

Came here with a friend in the evening. It's a fun little are that has a few businesses to choose from so great for families!! The picnic tables were also so nice to sit and relax. The man that helped us was very nice and friendly. The poke was good, but not the best. For the amount of rice, I wish there was a little bit more, maybe. I've found better priced poke other places. The best part of the trip was the gelato. It's not theirs, they are vendors for Il Gelato. The dragonfruit and mango lilikoi combo made up for the mediocre poke. I would return for the gelato.

I ordered a regular bowl ($18) with the tako limu, spicy salmon, and shoyu tuna. The biggest thing to consider here is the value. At $18 for a regular bowl, I expected both exceptional quality and bold flavors. While the fish quality was excellent, the seasoning didn't quite match the price point for me. Shoyu Tuna - Unfortunately my least favorite of the three. It lacked seasoning and tasted fairly plain. They do provide soy sauce packets, but I personally don't expect to have to season poke myself at this price point. Madako Limu - Easily the standout. The octopus was cut into generous chunks, giving it a great texture, and it had the most balanced, flavorful seasoning of the three selections. Spicy Salmon - The salmon itself was fresh and buttery, and I liked that it included masago for added texture. However, despite the name, it wasn't spicy and the overall flavor was pretty mild. One thing I can't criticize is the quality of the fish. Everything tasted very fresh, with buttery texture and no sinew or chewy pieces, which speaks to the quality of the seafood. Overall, I can understand why people come here for the freshness of the fish. If you prefer lightly seasoned poke that lets the seafood shine, this may be your style. Personally, I was hoping for more flavor to justify the price, so while I'm glad I tried it, there are other poke spots I'd choose first.

For the poke bowls, we got the Spicy Shoyu Ahi, Furikake Salmon, and Ultimate. Overall, they were pretty good and decent bowls. I liked that there was a condiment bar at the end to add any toppings you wanted. The fish was fresh and well seasoned, with no fishiness at all. I just wished there was a bit more white onion for crunch, but it was good regardless. The Fish and Chips were really good. The fish was super crispy, the meat was firm, and the fries were nicely fried. The tartar sauce or maybe more of a lemony aioli, was the star. It wasn't your usual tartar sauce; it had a homemade lemony sweetness that made it delicious. My only complaint was that the batter came off the fish pretty easily, which made it a bit tricky to eat at times.

Now I've had a lot of these in my life, and I must say, Iyasume are easily the best. See musubi and onigiri have humble origins as a quickly made homespun snack or on the go lunch, and when you spot them in the convenience environment they're often a giant ball of rice with a tinge of protein or seasoning for flavor. At Iyasume, these are culinary adventures, stacked with ingredients, all in handheld form, and the variety they offer is IMPRESSIVE! Of course musubi starts with the classic, SPAM. I had to order the kimchi + spam, shiso + spam, and unagi + tamago + spam, all of which were awesome (even the next day!). Onigiri here are actually layered with ingredients, so you get them in every bite, unlike the convenience store versions! They have a HUGE menu, and I went with spicy mentaiko and salmon, spicy mentaiko and ikura, ikura and salmon, and tuna mayo curry, all of which were great. I LOVE that they make these to order. You can see the line in the back hard at work, and they're very fast. You're sure to encounter a line when you arrive, but don't be scared, it moves quickly. I only had to wait about 5 minutes for mine to come up! Well worth it. Reasonably priced. Very filling. A taste of Hawaii and Japan in one place that'll have everyone smiling!
