Rafi is a miracle worker. My '98 Camry has been a truly reliable car but decided to die on the hottest day of the year. Any attempt to restart it resulted in a sound I had never heard before. Called Rafi and described the sound. He said "Sounds like the timing belt broke." My heart sank. "But don't worry," Rafi said. "I know that engine well, and it's one of the rare ones that isn't destroyed if the timing belt breaks." Had it towed to Rafi, and withing minutes he called to confirm that yes, the timing belt was the problem. He called this morning to tell me the Camry with its new timing belt was running great. I always had trouble trusting mechanics and recently I went to a big name mechanic shop only for them to do a terrible job with my car. I decided to look around and I saw many shops that I wasn't too sure of. Last minute I decided to go to this mechanic, Rafi. I came in and thinking I came to the wrong place and then I met Rafi at the gate. He was a bit busy and asked if I can wait. I did and I felt reassured by his presence. He was a extremely nice and genuine person that wanted to help. He treated me as a person rather than a customer. I don't know a whole a lot about cars but I know enough on how to maintain and take care of it so it was refreshing hearing his process and his explanation of my vehicle. Rafi is one of the nicest, friendly and knowledgeable mechanic I have ever met or done business with. I took my father's car there to diagnose and repair an electrical issue. We had taken the vehicle to 2 other mechanics and they were unable to find the problem. Rafi not only took the time to find the problem, he fixed it in a timely fashion. My father being a senior citizen and on a fixed income the expense of the repair was a concern, but not with 5 Starz. The cost of the repairs was more than fair and less than we expected. This review is long overdue. I have a pathfinder that needed to pass smog but I had an odometer issue. I took it to a shop and told them of the problem and they informed me after running a diagnostic on it that the car needed a new part ( only remember it would have cost ~150) and the labor for the part would have been around 600+. I needed a 2nd opinion, and found Rafi. I told him the same, that I think it has electrical issues and he said he'd check it out. Most honest and thoughtful mechanic I've ever hired. He kept my car for 2 days, keeping me in the loop practically every step of the way. Anytime he wanted to try something on the car, he'd call before doing so and let me know of any alternatives to the process. Warning... be very cautious when working with Rafi and getting your vehicle repaired. I have encountered many problems while working with him and it has gotten me to the point where I need to make a yelp account and provide detailed information for people thinking of doing business with him. I would like to start off with the fact that Rafi helped me buy a car from his lot about two years ago and told me the car was in perfect condition. The car burns oil and I have to put a quart of synthetic oil in weekly or even quicker. He also managed to take a shift knob and headrests from the car and replace them with mediocre ones and told me he was going to order me original ones but never did. There were also missing sun visors. Be careful when getting your car fixed and make sure you pay with a card so you can get a receipt. I assert you use a card because you will get a receipt no matter what or have documents in your previous transactions for the future. I made a mistake and paid cash and trusted him. He has managed to change parts on my car, claim them as being new, not give a receipt for items or labor, and continuously have the same parts break. Two weeks after getting my spark plugs and front right shock changed with Rafi, the right side of the car was lower than the left and the engine was making ticking noises. I took it to two other mechanics without telling them the previous work done on it. They looked at me and told me the spark plugs and the front right shock need to be changed ASAP because the drooping shock might pop the tire and the spark plugs can cause the engine to give out. This is the technique employed by Rafi. He makes it seems like he changes part in order to have other parts break down or even the same parts so you come back in for repairs. It's a great manipulative technique to always have you coming back in for business. Don't be fooled by the personality and good customer service, the work is mediocre and he is a con artist. read more
