UPDATE: Just had another great service experience with AA Appliance Repair. I needed to have a dryer repaired so I called AA and Jay answered right away. Beyond the quick answer, he was quick to respond via phone and text. He also worked directly with our tenant on scheduling so I didn't have to play middleman. Jay made the experience seamless and even arrived a few minutes early to the appointment. While there, Jay was very professional, cleaned up after himself and I couldn't believe how little I was charged. Those prices just don't happen in Chicago anymore. AA is my absolute go-to for any and all appliance installations and repairs. Definitely hit these guys up! read more

I own a building in Chicago. One of my tenants had a gasket break on the dishwasher. My property management company call these guys. They did the repair and charged me $358 for a $13 dollar part and 5 minutes of labor. They didn't ring the doorbell and only called the tenant. He was on a teams meeting and he missed the call the repair person didn't even ring the doorbell. My tenant called them back in less than five minutes but the repair person didn't answer. They did come by in the end to fix the problem but they tried to charge my tenant $70 for missing the call. These guys are a joke. Don't ever use them. read more

The whole experience was exceptional from start to finish. Jay took my request and helped me book an appointment quickly to service my washer. It was easy and painless to book and confirm. We reached out to have our Sub Zero fridge repaired. we had frozen coils in the back which resulted in pooled water every morning from the fridge. Alex was very accommodating and was at our house on time and identified the problem right away. When Alex, the technician, arrived to diagnose an issue with my dishwasher, he pressed a few buttons and turned to me and said it is working. He claimed it was working before he reset it. He also claimed sometimes a piece of glass gets caught and maybe it was somehow dislodged. Shortly after leaving and charging me $100, I attempted to wash a load of dirty dishes. It was not working. I was disappointed that he did not complete a thorough checking of all of the components of the unit before assuming it was working fine. My husband and I decided to request a refund but when I spoke to Jay, he naturally defended Alex. I mentioned I would be leaving a negative review and he said go ahead. Professional, right? It gets better. Jay allowed Alex to listen to the recording of our conversation. Alex, being as professional as Jay, actually texted me a not so very polite message. The text said the following: Hey this is Alex from AA Appliance Repair Chicago. Listened to your call. Ustedes son unos "sin vergüenza" le decimos en buen dominicano. Definitely not getting a refund. You got your diagnostic and know full well I spent a considerable amount of time there confirming your machines operation. Leave all the bad reviews you want. We're the best and highest rated appliance repair co in chicago. The message above from Alex was a direct quote, copied and pasted off of my phone. The bottom line is I am out $100, no closer to having a working dishwasher. For those of you that do not read Spanish, he basically accused us of being immoral. All of this because we wanted a refund for not fixing/diagnosing something he was hired to do. How dare us. My husband and I do not recommend this company for any of your needs. Be aware, this business is a scam - they charge you $100 for a visit call and when they get to your place they spend less than 5 mins and quote you an outrageously high price for repairing your appliance so when you say no they make $100 for doing nothing -- in my case I needed it a dishwasher fixed. When the technicians got there, they said it will cost me $450 for a computer board and that it would take 60 days to get the item. Later i found the same item online for $105 and immediately available. When I requested a refund they said they were going to keep $100 for the visit which they kept (or in this case swindled me out of it) I have pictures proving the price that they quoted me and the cost to the items online - to give you an idea I just bought a new dishwasher (same model) foe $480 including installation - the short of the story is, run away as far a you can from this company - they are just a scam outfit read more

They sent a technician- twice- who did nothing but look at my control panel & did nothing to rectify the problem ! My freezer completely thawed out & I had to throw everything in my fridge & freezer away!!! After I complained again they said they'd send a better technician out! After I had to lose everything in my fridge & it thawed out all over my kitchen floor!! It took 4 tries & charged me close to $500 to fix what was the thermostat! If I could give this business a negative review, I absolutely would. My mother scheduled them for a stove repair and said they would arrive between 1 to 3 pm and were supposed to call when they were on the way. It was for one of her tenants in a building. After waiting there for 2 hours, they didn't show up, not even a call, so she left because she lives far from the building. The technician didn't arrive until 4:10 p.m. and she told him she was no longer interested because she thought it was very unprofessional that they were very late and didn't even call. He kept caling her repeatedly, demanding that she pay him a $100 fee just for showing up. Then it turns out the tenant let him and he proceeded to take the stove apart without authorization from my mother, the landlord, who would have been responsible for payment. He sent her a text threatening to leave the stove in pieces if she didn't pay. My mother showed me the text and I called the office but the person that answered the phone was just as unprofessional and rude as the technician was and tried to justify the technician's behavior. It was unreal. The tenant confirmed that the technician took the oven door off and left. I have never experienced such terrible and unprofessional service!! read more

I'm giving three stars for benefit of the doubt. The map indicates a Loop location which further implies that the City of Chicago is the service area. When I shared the South Shore address of my mother's home, the person said that they don't cover this area. I won't speculate as to why, but suffice to say, perhaps their listing could be clearer on their service area. Oh, BTW, water heaters are, evidently, not appliances because they don't do those either. read more
