The condos in my Aliso Viejo complex have hydronic heating systems--water goes back and forth between the water heater and the plenum space where a fan blows the air, now warmed by the water, into the unit. I had never heard of this type of system before and other homeowners spoke about it in hushed tones that are typically associated with something mysterious and costly. In November, I had a water leak in my ceiling which was found in the copper plumbing of my heating system. Subsequent to that repair, the heating system did not work effectively. After some research, I found that was due to the air now in the system. With no air bleeder value obvious to me so that I could even attempt a fix on my own, I braced myself for another costly repair. Not so. Fix My AC states specifically that they understand hydronic systems, and with the good reviews on Yelp, I gave them a call. They showed up on time, were friendly, and took care to keep my place clean. As there was indeed no air bleeder valve, Avi was still able to remove the air by using the system's drain and cycling the main water shut-off. In less than an hour and for about $100, they had it working like new. My relief was immense. (Apparently, they are simple systems--or so says Avi!) I will be definitely calling Fix My AC first should I ever have any type of HVAC ailment in the future. read more

Fix My AC is one of the most friendly, professional contractors that I have worked with. I called them in the morning during the heat wave here in SoCal in June. They were at my house by the afternoon and located & fixed the problem within 30 minutes! They were very helpful & friendly and even wore coverings over their shoes to avoid tracking dirt into my home. The problem turned out to be a burned out starter for the motor in our attic fan. Fix My AC was very honest to let me know it was only this small part and not the entire, expensive motor. Avi and Cecilia are the best HVAC people I have ever come across! Genuinely honest and caring, and really accommodating. They came after hours and on a weekend during a heatwave. I called several companies and none were available for days. They did not charge a higher service fee and came a few hours after I called. They easily diagnosed my problem. It was a two part issue, one they could take care of right away and another that required special ordering a component. They were very patient and professional, taking the time to explain to me the technical side of things and also my available options. They educated me on what could be done and what was their recommendation, but ultimately left it up to me to decide. They didn't say, well all this has to be unnecessarily replaced and it will cost an outrageous amount. (Which happened to me with another company I had come by before for the same issue.) Because of my work schedule and young toddler son, I had only small windows of time open. They kept in touch with me over texting for the few days the component was on order and arranged an appointment after hours on a weekday. They even switched around appointments with another customer to accommodate me. Having a young toddler in a heat wave, they understood this was an important matter to me that would preferably be addressed as soon as possible. The installation went quickly and without a hitch. They tested everything thoroughly, even measuring temperatures from several vents on two floors of my home to ensure everything was functioning at optimum level. The whole time they were educating me on AC systems. Strangely enough it seemed as I was taking AC 101, which was very welcomed and appreciated. When it came time for them to bill me, I was informed that they gave me the wrong estimate for this service. At this point, what do you usually think? You usually think, oh here it comes, they are going to charge me more and rip me off right? But they told me they estimated too low for the part (it cost more), but would honor that estimate they originally gave me and eat the cost! How's that for honesty and integrity? I also asked them to check on another component of my AC system that was installed by someone else previously. I felt there maybe an issue with that part and for them to check and test it. They were very concerned that I was concerned about this part and recommended changing it because it was not within spec and they could not warranty it along with their installed component. THEY CHARGED ME NOTHING FOR THIS. Nothing for the labor and nothing for the part! Who does that? Well they did, and this part cost me a few hundred dollars previously! I'm extremely impressed with this company. They are a family run business with good morals and values, rare these days. They had lots of opportunity to nickel and dime me, overcharge me. But they didn't. They treated me like a good friend. Someone who takes the time to make you comfortable and relaxed, genuinely. They weren't doing that to set me up for a pitch or something dirty like that. Even after I paid them, they continued to follow up with me to ensure I was a happy and satisfied customer. They encouraged me to contact them for any reason at all. I've already referred them to co-workers and friends. The weekend of sept 12-14 will forever remain seared in our household as one of the hottest weekends everrrrrr....I called fix my ac after calling about 5 other highly rated places on yelp. They were the only ones that actually picked up the phone and we were able to get an appt the next day. We already had another company come in that thought they could fix our issue but couldn't. Avi and cc came us a team and listened to my husbands concerns. Turned out they needed to order a part but in the interim gave us a short term solution to deal w the crazy heat ( I was 8 months preggo and we had a 2 year old basting in 95 deg indoor heat). Absolutely amazing is all I can say. We had another company come out and they said we were going to have to replace our entire outside unit which would be $7k-$8k. I called Fix My AC in the morning to come and see about a leak in my A/C pipes. They were at my house in about 2 hours and checked out the whole system. (I live in a 3 story house with the A/C unit in the attic and got no complaints about all the up and down trips!!). After checking and running some tests, they determined that I actually would need a plumber to fix the problem. They got one arranged for me and were on their way. They were there about an hour start to finish and would not let me pay a penny even for the service call since they didn't actually repair anything! My air conditioning stopped working in 2009. They repair guy that came quoted $1800 to replace the blower - too much $ at the time so I lived with fans until I refi'd for home improvements and decided to try again this year. After a frustrating and expensive encounter with 2 different A/C technicians, I called FixMyAC. Avi, the owner and a graduate mechanical engineer, knows how to solve a problem. Where the other technicians refilled my compressor with the very expensive Freon to no avail, Avi used to his tools, knowledge and experience to diagnose a leak in the system and then proceeded to set up a test to determine the LOCATION of the leak. Wonderful experience with Fix My AC. AC had been in declining health and finally quit during a hot spell, of course. Fix My AC was able to come out within 48 hours. They diagnosed problem as needed a condenser. The unit was old, and they were able to get one of the few remaining replacements that could be installed without upgrading the entire system, which would have been over $10k. I really appreciated the total absence of "up sell." When it arrived the owner, Avi (who is a dead ringer for the singer of AC/DC) and his wife called immediately, and all of their guys were out that day, so they came out personally on a Friday evening and stayed until 9:00 pm to install it so I wouldn't have to go all weekend without AC. Good luck getting anyone else to do that without charging you triple! Don't bother calling anyone else, Fix My AC goes the extra mile. read more

In my experience Cecilia and Avi are a phenomenal team, extremely pleasant, professional, honest, expert at what they do, and with unbelievable customer service. Cecilia handles the office side, including appointments and billing, and Avi does the AC repair. Avi is the real deal and obviously knows what he's doing. Cecilia also acts as his helper. We have a 10 year old dual zone AC system for upstairs and downstairs with 2 compressors outside. Upstairs stopped blowing cold air and the unit outside also stopped working. This happened once before years ago when the motor outside failed and was replaced under warranty. The symptoms were the same so I assumed another electric motor went, but this time we would have to pay $1-2k. Found excellent reviews on Yelp for Fix My AC, so thought I'd give them a try, half expecting I'd have to contact 4 or 5 companies during the folllowing week to get a reply. By the time I got around to emailing them describing the problem it was 8:30pm on a Sunday night. Within minutes Cecilia emailed me back, very professionally, and offered an appointment Monday afternoon (wow, next day!), but I was working at home late and didn't see her email until 1:30am. We've bought 3 houses in Irvine in the last 25 years so have extensive experience with contractors, handyman and customer service. I've never had anyone reply on a Sunday night! So I email her back at 1:30am, and lo and behold Cecilia emails me back within minutes with details of the appointment and their quite reasonable service fee! This is about 1:30 in the morning! At 8:30am I email Cecilia about a special requirement we have for access to our house, and she says no problem, and then calls before they arrive at the house. I don't know how she manages all this as they are obviously extremely busy and she always seems so cheerful and friendly. Within minutes Avi diagnoses the problem and it's not the motor but a stuck switch, which he thinks he can make operational again so I don't need to buy a new one! I decide on the new switch anyway, which is a fraction of the cost of the new motor I thought we'd need originally. They also show me developing issues with both motors that might lead to future failure, but recommend waiting. I trust Avi's judgement completely, and now wouldn't consider calling anyone else for our AC. read more
