Great service, first time I have been here. I almost got stuck on 55 and was afraid my car would stall. Lights were all flashing and everything... I got really worried got of the freeway quick and came here. Then I got worried how much they would charge. They said they were not sure until they looked to see what the problem was.. and then I got more worried. So I waited about 30 min and called a bunch my friends that know about cars, not sure if that helped or worried me more :) After talking on the phone forever about what to do one of the workers came out and told me that something was loose with my water pump and they fixed it and I should not have any more problems. I wouldn't even give Fix and Smog one star if possible because I just had the worst experience I have ever had when taking my vehicle in for service. I took my vehicle into to the above mentioned shop when hearing a foreign noise under my hood. Little did I know that I would experience the utmost in incompetence and inconsideration by everyone on staff. Incompetent 1. Misdiagnosing the noise coming from under my hood as being from the water pump. 2. When they replaced a hose, coolant spilled all over my driveway leaving an unsightly puddle. 3. The owner telling me the foreign noise was gone after my first visit when in fact he never checked it. Inconsideration 1. On 2 occasions the business never called me to tell me that my car was fixed. I had to call them. I have one car only and this is a major inconvenience. 2. Not offering to clean my driveway or saying they were sorry for inconveniencing me or misdiagnosing my problem. Finally, after a second trip and $800 spent the coolant leak was fixed, and the necessary repair of my alternator was completed. However, this was after arguing with owner who tried to lie to me by saying that there was a second noise coming from under my hood on my return visit. I don't understand how this business keeps its doors open when getting the kind of incompetence, lack of integrity and a disregard for my considerration shown by the staff at Fix and Smog. read more

I first went to Fix-N-Smog on 09/05/2017 to have my 2007 Ford Mustang smog checked. I decided to go there because it was local and because I found an Internet coupon (primarily because of the coupon). On my first visit the owner stated that it was going to take 20-minutes. It took way more than that, which was horrible because their waiting room/office had no air condition running, so I kept having to step outside. Oh and looking at my car took more than 20-minutes. Scott (Caucasian male with facial hair) the smog checker approaches me and tells me that he needs to show me something. He proceeds to try and lecture me about how my cold-air-intake is a modification. I told him I knew that it's a mod and that I had the C.A.R.B. EO sticker/decal in the glove compartment. He then gives me attitude, and tries to lecture me on how the sticker is supposed to be inside the engine bay. Told him I kept the sticker in the glove box so it doesn't get damaged (I clean my engine bay quite often). He then tells me that I have to comeback some other day to get retested because they were closed. He didn't actually test the car, he just visually inspected it and then stopped because of the sticker/decal. Scott proceeded to FAIL my car and charge me $29.75 except for the SMOG certificate. Scott also said, "You baby your car don't you?" When I got home I noticed a grease palm print on the driver's side near the hood. So he or someone else there left the print mark. I came back on 09/07/2017 and had to deal with Scott again. He had me pull up my car into their engine bay, which seemed rather dangerous because of the car lift inside. Another employee even told me to watch my step after I was exiting my car. I gave Scott the C.A.R.B. EO sticker/decal. He then proceeded to go on his cell phone to look up the C.A.R.B. EO number but instead of just verifying the code etc. he proceeded to nitpick the description of the cold air intake. Basically he would have had to have taken the whole thing apart. Then he asked me for the tuning device. I told him what's the problem? He basically rambled on about how he was just checking the description on the C.A.R.B. website and that there was supposed to be a tuning device. I told him that he didn't need the physical tuner because the car has already been tuned. Scott actually thought that the tuner went inside the engine bay and was looking for it. I told Scott that he had been giving me attitude since Tuesday. He threw a hissy fit and told me to take my car elsewhere. I told him that I was getting a refund. The owner Alex was sitting in the engine bay. I told him that Scott had been giving me attitude since Tuesday when he tried to lecture me about the mod in my car because I put him in his place after telling him I knew what it was and that I had the sticker for it etc. Scott proceeded to call me a "FAG" In front of Alex. I told the owner that I would be writing negative reviews online because of this incident. I made sure that Scott knew that I would remember his name by pointing at the embroidered name Scott on his work shirt and stating his name multiple times. Alex did NOT chastise or fire Scott in my presence about calling me a "FAG." The owner gave me a refund, and mumbled a halfhearted apology as he was issuing the refund back on to my card. I told him that he needed to fire Scott, and that he the owner knew that I would have to write a review about this. The previous place that I had my car smog checked at did not give me the kind of attitude over my cold-air-intake that Scott did. Again, I only went to Fix-N-Smog because of a coupon and proximity to me. I later went to a STAR certified and ASE Certified smog check center in Santa Ana, and they gave me NO ATTITUDE about my cold-air-intake, and verified the C.A.R.B. EO number etc. (I placed the decal/sticker on the unit) matched what I had installed in my engine etc. AVOID this place if you have mods/modifications on your car and because of an apparent homophobic employee who called a paying customer a "FAG" in front of the OWNER without any immediate consequences. read more

Had my car fixed at this location. Alex the manager was friendly and got me going right away since I was on a tight schedule. He provided donuts and coffee at no charge and made sure that I understood what needed to be fixed. I never felt being pushed and rushed to agree on fixes that I didn't felt comfortable. Owner and technicians are rude, went in to do a smog. They tried telling me my air intake wasn't stock when I've never replaced it or removed the air intake, it's been stock since i bought it 9 years ago. The intake was missing a part so i did not pass smog which made sense i double checked with Toyota of Orange to confirm this. Very unpleasant and rude tho both owner and technician. Makes you wonder if they claim to say "that intake isn't stock i see these cars every day " when it was actually stock if they really know what they are doing. Seemed like they just wanted to make quick money and if i did order the part with them and had it replaced I'm sure they would've ripped me off. When i tried asking the technician how much the part would be he snarked at me saying the owner would tell me all about it when i asked the owner he wasn't helpful just said idk i have to look it up. And didn't even do it. Waste of thirty bucks but seemed like they needed it more than i do the way they're running their business and treating their customers. Don't come here read more

I took car for smog check on 10/27/17. I was told the dipstick tube had tape at the bottom (which it did, to hold the tube down to the engine) and couldn't pass without a new tube. This still cost me $29.75. I immediately bought one, installed it and took the car back. They couldn't do it because it was late in the day. I brought it back 10/30/17 for a re-inspection. The mechanic accused me of cleaning the old tube and refused to pass it. He said the tube still slips in and out of the engine port (bad design from VW). I explained it was new, but he insisted on a receipt and walked off. Basically, he called me a liar. I went home to get the old tube and receipt and come back a 4th time. I wasn't very happy when I came back. I showed the manager and the mechanic the old tube and my receipt. I explained the dipstick tubes slip because it's a bad design from VW and that's why I needed the tape to hold it down. The mechanic said "You need to leave!" They refused to smog my car. The next mechanic simply pushed the dipstick tube into the engine port. Problem solved and passed smog check. read more

I called around to see what places could accomodate a smog check within a lunch hour. Several places were respectful enough of my time to tell me they couldn't garantee that. These guys told me to come on down and they would get me taken care of on my lunch hour. I show up and I'm told I have to wait 20 minutes for the smog guy to get there. Not an apology or anything. This place doesn't respect your time or you. Drove up the street to Valero and they took me right in and even honored the coupon I had printed for fix n smog. Don't waste your time here unless you have time to waste. read more

In June I took my car to this facility to have it smog tested. Two months later the DMV informed me they had not received any information from this facility. I went back to the facility and told them that the DMV had not received proof of the smog check at the DMV. To my dismay the owner told me that my car had never been there had never been smogged by them that it must've been a different car. I was upset about his attitude and their lack of professionalism when I only drive one car and they did in fact do the smog check. I didn't have my receipt so he accused me of a never having my car there at their facility at any time. I did furnish my bank statement with their name on it and the $38 fee. I told him I recommended my brother my son actually came in and did his inspection there and that I was please with them initially and now I can't believe you're telling me this never existed. The owner got in my face told me that he has a $60,000 car that will piss on me and treated me like garbage this place is a joke and I will never recommend anyone going near it read more

Don't know why all the negative comments. Alex and his lead tech bent over backwards to get my old car running again. They graciously took my distributor out and gave it to me so I could rebuilt because it was a specialty item, then they waited for me to return with the part and get me going again. Once again got great service from Alex today, he made suggestions to save me money instead of trying to get me on parts and labor he advised me to get the part and he would install it and when another issue was found he took care of it no problem and got me in and out of there in record time! I told him I didn't have the time to drop the car off and he bumped me up in line and got me out of there in about 35 minute's! Every one needs to have a mechanic they can trust to take care of them, give them honest answers , do perfect work and get their car back on the road as quickly and as inexpensively as possible. It's really hard to find an auto repair shop you can trust when you're a woman. I've been on this planet for enough decades and have been burned a few times. Funny thing, though, I'm not clueless and I know what I need and what is necessary. I went to this place today asking for a smog check and new brakes. That's exactly what I needed and what I could afford. Barely 5 minutes after leaving, I got a call from the shop and there was a long, long list of things that needed to be done. The cost of all those repairs would have been more than my old car is worth. And more than I could afford all at once. If you want repeat customers, don't be a jerk. Be kind and understanding. And don't use scare tactics! And I think he was a bit ticked that my old car passed the smog check. Almost home and realized that he didn't give me my DMV renewal form back. Buyer beware! If you don't pass smog you will not get a second test UNLESS you get it fixed there! They are in the business to make money off of your problems. All other smog places we've been to give you a second smog check included in your price. You walk out of there paying $29.95 for absolutely nothing. And then you have to pay again at another shop for the second test. I surely wouldn't bring it back there for the retest or ever again. They just lost a loyal customer. I wouldn't even give it one star if I had the option. The worst and I mean worst customer service I have ever experienced. I called and said I had an older model truck that needed to be smogged. Whoever answered the phone said bring it in we will see what we can do. I brought it over and he seemed annoyed when I told him who I was and said he wasn't sure if he could get to it that day although it was 330 and I didn't see very much else going on. He said maybe tomorrow. I could take it and bring it back or leave it. I left it. At 830 in the morning I get a call ,We cant do it. I asked why and he said something I couldn't understand then when I asked what he said and what do you mean he hung up on me. When I went to pick up the truck I asked for me keys he gave me a dirty look and waved his hand towards where the truck was parked. I asked if that meant the keys were in it he just waved his hand again. So I get to my truck parked where you couldn't see it from the office and its got the keys in the ignition just sitting there and it could be driven right out the back. I have never been treated so poorly. Super rude and unprofessional. I would never take another vehicle there or recommend them to my worst enemy. I since have made an appointment with a competent nice place and am having it taken care of properly. Obviously these people have no clue how to work on things . They should touch anyones car. I don't normally write bad reviews but I was so unhappy with Fix-N-Smog. In April, they changed my brakes and rotors. Last month, I knew there was something wrong with my brakes because I kept hearing a repetitive thud (as if something was loose) about 75% of the times I stepped on the brakes. I called Fix-N-Smog and they told me to come in but since it was already 5pm, they could only take a look at my car. When I got there, the man working took my car out for a test drive and almost got us rear-ended because he kept stepping on the brakes to listen for the sounds. He didn't hear anything so he REFUSED to help me even though I told him I only hear the sounds 75% of the time. He told me to come back in the morning and they would take a look at it, IF they heard anything. I came back two mornings later, the owner Alex, refused to help me as well. He said I could either wait 5 hours before they take my car back or I can come back the next morning but he wouldn't guarantee to take care of my car. He told me to make an appointment for the next week but even with an appointment he couldn't guarantee that I would be seen. I told him I didn't feel safe driving my car, but he said he couldn't help out. I felt as if they were avoiding to help me out because they knew this was a problem caused by them, since they changed my brakes. I went to another shop called Vodie's in Garden Grove, and they immediately took my car back. Turns out one of the screws fell off from the brakes because Fix-N-Smog tightened it too tight and it was just floating in my car. I am so unhappy with Fix-N-Smog, they put my life in danger and didn't care at all. read more
