Located across the street from the breakers, since they valet you don't need to worry about finding parking. You walk in and will head upstairs. You can either sit inside or outside (beautiful view). Waiter was knowledge and efficient. Started with the beet salad and had the filet and a side of sweet potato for dinner. Steak was cooked to perfection, delicious. Can I give this a 5+ here? OMGOODNESS! My husband and I were here last night for our 8th Wedding Anniversary! We were seated promptly which was much appreciated in consideration of having a reservation made ahead of time. Drinks were fast to the table. Sarah was exceptional. Polite, friendly, and attentive. We had raw oysters to start. They were reasonably priced. My husband had a blackened ribeye. He said it was so tender, it melted in his mouth. And he had special requests the chef was happy to fulfill. I had the petite filet with raspberry glaze & blue cheese...so tasty! Our night was completed with a piece of Key Lime pie. Great service and good food! If you dine here, I would recommend the patio. I had dinner on the patio as the sun was setting. It was absolutely beautiful, overlooking the golf course and seeing the sunset in downtown palm beach. I ordered the sweet corn and lobster chowder for a starter. Just a headsup it's not a regular cup of soup- it is in a very large bowl. I could've had that as my meal. Lots of lobster chunks; they were not cheap with this soup. For my main course I ordered the petite filet mignon with parmesan steak fries. The steak was a little too well for me but it was still great! And the steak fries were the biggest steak fries I've had! The bread that they bring out is amazing! Warm and fresh out of the oven. The butter that accompanies the bread was a sweet butter with Hawaiian sea salt. I could have just the bread all night! From the hostess stand, the bartenders, waiters and managers had excellent service. Magnificent service and food! We went there for birthday dinner and I had the petite filet and my friend had the Tomahawk steak which was dry aged. Absolutely delicious. However the beet salad had way more in it than mentioned on the menu- asparagus, peas and peppers to name a few. I can't eat peppers so had to send it back. Wish they would disclose on menu. Anyway the chocolate cake for dessert was out of this world. Not too sweet as it had chocolate mouse like filling and the cake was very moist. Beautiful location as well. Bleh. For a 700 dollar dinner for four I expected above exceptional service. That was definitely not received. We had to ask for someone to clear our appetizer plates twice before it was finally done. Wine glasses sat empty for long periods of time. Maybe if the automatic 20 percent tip wasn't included service would be better.... Stone crab and oysters were good. My filet was nothing special, I've had better and worse. Everyone's dinner entrees were just "average"... The real icing on our lack luster night was something that should have never happened. My girlfriend and I went to the restroom before we were leaving. Apparently the hostess that was in there was changing out the toilet paper and restocking and never stopped either of us before we went in. She just walked out.. neither bathroom stall had toilet paper. I had to literally waddle out and grab tissue paper and quick hand some to my other friend. We had, and always have but this night was extra special, an amazing time. Georgia, our waitress, was on top of literally everything. We had to cancel our bachelorette and bachelor parties, my fiancé's bridal shower, and eventually our wedding (scheduled for November up north) in July. So when my fiancé's birthday came around, I wanted to absolutely spoil her, because nothing and nobody can cancel your birthday. Naturally I wanted the very best for her, so we stayed the night at The Breakers, and had dinner at Flaglers. The birthday was a complete success when Georgia pulled a cake out of seemingly thin air, and since we basically had the bridal party with us, and the right amount of top shelf alcohol, we took it a step further and held a makeshift wedding reception right there at the table. Georgia was right there with us, and acted as the photographer! She was all over it with multiple cameras, standing on chairs, demanding smiles from the unsmilibles! The manager even came over to offer her congratulations and assistance should we need any. Nope, didn't need any, Georgia was all over if. The food was amazing, the chef having beeN on point. The entire experience was first class, and should I ever need to get married during a pandemic again, I'll be headed right back that way!! read more

After a long hiatus, I dined with seven other people at the Flagler Steakhouse this past Saturday and must say that while the food was good on the whole, the service was poor for the amount one pays to dine here. The restaurant, part of the Breakers Hotel, is located across the street from the main hotel in the golf clubhouse on the second floor. The indoor dining area itself is rather small, although very attractive with warm beige colors dominating. An impressive chandelier hangs from the cathedral like ceiling and wooden chairs that are quite comfortable with striped upholstery surround the tightly packed tables. Outdoor seating is also available on a terrace overlooking the golf course and downtown West Palm Beach. We had an 8:00 p.m. reservation and arrived on time. The restaurant was not ready for us so we waited about 20-25 minutes for our table. This however was only the beginning of our waiting on this night. The host comped us a round of drinks to make up for the delay in our reservation. We were then seated and waited a while before the waiter took our order. The menu consisted of the usual steakhouse fair along with seafood dishes. After placing our orders we once again waited...and waited...and waited some more. The appetizers came out, and at that time, my father was told that they were out of the chicken he ordered. OK, they were out of chicken-weird. My father looked at the menu again and ordered sole. Five minutes later, the host came over. They were also out of sole. This is strange. I have never been to a restaurant, especially one of this caliber, that has run out of two basic dishes such as chicken and sole. I understand a lack of prime rib, but chicken? I mean come on they are joking right? Nope, out of chicken and sole. Order again. So my Dad finally ordered a steak. Moving on, for my appetizer I had the escargot served in a garlic butter sauce with puffed pastries. They were very good, but not great. Other diners had the clams and salads. One diner I was with needed to return the clams as they were not served hot but warm and did not have the crispness you hope for. It took a while to return the clams. My grandmother said her clams were particularly sandy. After finishing the appetizers, once again we waited...and waited for our dishes to be removed. Sensing a theme? Entrees were served. At Flagler Steakhouse there must be at least three waiters delivering entrees simultaneously which is pretty cool, but then this process keeps the waiters from their other tables, so the coolness is outweighed by the logistical nightmare it creates. I had a fillet mignon which in all honesty was delicious. It was cooked to perfection, a nice medium rare, that was buttery soft and juicy, although it could have been served a bit hotter. I also sampled the chicken which was salty and juicy with wonderful flavor. The sweet potato accompanying my steak was great as were the sides of onion strings and corn off the cob. The creamed spinach was nothing special and was not exactly creamed. After eating, once again we had to wait and wait for our dishes to be cleared. It was closing in on two and a half hours for appetizers and entrees. As it was my family birthday dinner, my parents arranged a cake for me provided by the restaurant. It was a chocolate on chocolate layer cake and the layered chocolate tasted like pudding - simply delicious. However, the cake was served a good ten minutes before the beverages we ordered with dessert came out. At this point the restaurant was nearly empty and the lack of coordination was inexcusable. The cappuccino I ordered however, was rich and tasty. My father told me that they did take some charges off the bill, but the service was so slow they damn well should have. For a highly rated hotel and its affiliated steakhouse, the service should be nearly perfect. The service here though was not. I enjoyed my food, and the good company I was with took it all in stride, but this was a seriously long dining experience for a pretty straightforward three course meal. Saturday afternoon, my cousin, sister and I are determined to make our dinner reservations at The Flagler Steakhouse even under horrible weather. What should have been a 30 - 45 mins drive took us close about an hour and a half, which is no problem for 3 girls we always have something to talk about but, we were a bit worried about losing our reservation. Called the restaurant to notify we were going to be late "no problem, see you soon" they said. The Flagler is part of The Breakers Hotel but not inside it, it's right across their main entrance, and it's right in front of the Golf Course. Complementary valet parking, waiting area downstairs, restaurant is up the stairs, second floor. You can get there by elevator too. Even though we were late, the hostesses were very friendly and accommodating, even apologizing for making us wait for a table. Just 15 minutes after we're seated and William, our server, introduced us to his assistant (sorry, don't remember name) and our wonderful dinner started. At this time they're offering the Pre-Fixed dinner menu for $35.00 so we took advantage of that. There were 4 items to chose from as appetizer, 3 choices for Main Course, and 3 choices for dessert. Also, for $9.00 extra you could include a glass of a preselected wine. One of the appetizer items was French Onion soup, asked our server if we could have the Corn Chowder instead, as part of the special and they did (I know for a fact some other restaurants stick to that menu no changes). The Corn Chowder is delicious! My sister had the onion soup and loved it too. The 3 Main Course items were at our table since we all ordered something different. I had the Filet Mignon (Medium Well). I know, you're thinking OMG that's drying the meat, well not here. The knife went through it like butter, perfectly cooked, juicy and full of flavor. Side was a loaded mashed potato (too salty for my taste) but tasted really good, and asparagus. For dessert we all ordered the Key Lime Pie. I'm not a fan, but this was really good. Served with Blackberries, a bit of whipped cream and a very think sugar waffle crisp on top, it's a simple but beautiful presentation. Servers were more than excellent, they were happy to answer any question we had, accommodate any request, making sure everything was to our satisfaction, and always with a sincere smile. To say even more, we were the last ones there, and one more person. They're getting ready to close but we wanted to take a look at the outside seating, they waited patiently while we all talked, enjoyed the outside view, and wished us a very sincere good night and thank you for coming when we left. This was an amazing experience. As a New Yorker who is informally testing steakhouses in New York, I wanted to see if this was a great vacation alternative. IT IS! My boyfriend and I were sat in a small table which was uncomfortable, but management noticed this immediately and asked to move us to a booth where we saw the whole dining area (this was just the beginning of the amazing service that we experienced). Such a beautiful dining area and ambience. We had no kids with us but very kid-friendly, as well. So our favorite part was the food. We both had a tomahawk and lobster - ITS WAS DELICIOUS! The tomahawk is dramatically presented with bone hanging off the plate and the lobster tail placed right next to your choice of side. We had a side order of creamed spinach that was more spinach than cream (AMAZING) - large enough to share! Went to Flaglers with a party of 12 from out of town . Set up reservation weeks in advance and called to confirm the day before.  When we arrived we are told it was canceled.   It reminded me of the Seinfeld episode where Jerry's reservation  is taken but not kept... oh well what to do next.  We get sent to the bar.  Fortunately the bar has some room and they get us drinks rapidly.  They go into scramble mode and get us a table in about 10 minutes.   Problem is that the table is really for 8 people.  We squish in. Service from that point improved.  My Appetizer was lobster corn soup...4 star.... I ordered bone in NY strip steak which was 5 star plus in taste and had samples of other entrees that were also 5 star.  Over all it was a 3 star experience with 5 star food. Be prepared to over pay. This is not great value especially by the way it went for us. Nothing compt. Here is the menu for you to decide if the prices are what you want to pay.  We spent about 400 dollars a  couple after wine, sides, and desert.  Bring your pocketbook. Wow. Hard to know where to begin on this great and memorable meal. I was taken here as a surprise for my birthday. We were promptly greeted, brought to a lovely table on the balcony, and immediately approached by our waitress who was friendly, helpful, and very attentive. Cocktails were excellent (I highly recommend the Loaded Martini). Wedge Salad and Heirloom Tomato Salad were both tasty and good portions. Bread was fresh and warm. Water was regularly refilled and the check-ins were well paced and non-intrusive to our conversation. We were served our Porterhouse for 2, and after 3 bites the power went out and fire alarm was triggered shortly thereafter. Due to Palm Beach laws, we had to evacuate the building but were told to take our wine (excellent suggestion) while we waited outside. Some of the outrage expressed by a few guests was nothing short of embarrassing and a number of them skipped the bills and left. We enjoyed the time having wine and chatting with our waitress and a few other servers/managers who were outside making sure people were comfortable. When the power was restored, they immediately took our steak back, re-cooked another one (which was equally delicious), treated us to a FABULOUS bottle of wine, threw in dessert/coffee, and gave a generous discount on the remaining bill. I've always been a believer that the quality of a restaurant is as much in how they handle problems as it is in the food and general service. Well, suffice to say that this crew outdid themselves. We felt extremely well cared-for and realize that some issues simply happen and should be accepted as a matter of course knowing that it will be rectified. Flagler Steakhouse did not disappoint. As for the remainder of the food, the Porterhouse was delicious and perfectly cooked. The Banana Bread Pudding was delectable and we opted for the vanilla ice cream instead of rum raisin at the suggestion of our waitress. The atmosphere was perfect for Palm Beach (snobbish, pretentious and uber hoity toity). But the food was just not that good. I had the crab and corn chowder. It was awful. My salad was good but so is the salad bar at Golden Corral. My stuffed shrimp was awful. And the chocolate cake, while big enough to tip over an ocean liner, was just okay. It is a beautiful setting and the staff is very well trained The food was just not that interesting or worthy of the price. Wine list is3x retail or more and a mediocre by the glass offering. The crab dumpling appetizer was wonderful and would be worthy of a return visit. Caesar salad and apple Gorgonzola salad were not that good. Filet was good and cooked as requested. Tomahawk ribeye dry aged was oaky but we had a more flavorful and tender ribeye at Morton's the night before. A $12 key lime resulted in one taste and then set it aside. The was no lime flavor, just a bland sweet concotion. We mentioned it to the server but he already had the check in hand and made no adjustments. Same for a peach crostini which was a good idea but the peaches were green with no taste. I wanted to like this place and I did, but not the food.... This restaurant is getting four stars on the steak alone. I had the dry-aged rib chop and it was awesome. Lena C. had the bone in filet and she said it was the best steak she had ever had. I could agree. Now why four stars and not five? The service wasn't great. Lena C. ordered the cream corn soup and all of the potatoes were hard. Did the chef not taste his food? After this discovery it took me 15 minutes to flag down the waitress who then brought out the French onion soup which was over reduced. The Wedge Salad had a strange japanese steakhouse type dressing on it a little strange with blue cheese. The dessert was not memorable and we were brought the tab before I was asked if I wanted an after dinner drink. If you decide to go here stick with the steak and potatoes.
