This was the first place I had gone to try on dresses. I was not entirely sure what I wanted, but they helped me so much. They took my interest board and some general questions and were able to find me the dress of my dreams. My mom, sister, and I all had the best experience. It was calm and the perfect atmosphere. I went to Flair to shop with my bridesmaids for their dresses. I wanted unique dresses for everyone, in different shades of green with different textures. I had tried figuring it out on my own but failed so I made an appointment at Flair. Best decision ever. We worked with Kaitie Silk and she is WONDERFUL. She was prepared for the appointment with dress options and price points that were exactly what I had envisioned. The appointment went so smoothly! Within a week, dresses were ordered for my entire bridal party. It was so efficient, I still can't believe it is done and off my mind. Will never recommend this place!! I went to Flair because well it was on Newbury and I figured it would be "high quality". I brought all of my bridesmaids (who were each measured by the girl at the shop). They did not get fat. Most of them are under a size 4! We were told to order one size up for each girl. One of my bridesmaids was even going to be possibly pregnant. All was good! Flash forward a few months later. All dresses don't fit, all are too small!! Shop girl tried to be somewhat helpful I will give her that. She then told me that "she thought" the designer was closing shop. I tried calling the designer and the phone was off the hook. I ended up contacting the designer by Facebook and she was extremely helpful saying she wasn't closing and was going to send me the extra fabric and tell me how to let the dresses out. These are $300+ dresses btw! Shopgirl then sent me an email and was like oh I am happy you and designer are working together! Um yeah I would think this was your job since this was your fault! It was not like I measured all my girls and told you numbers on the phone! She also said I had a choice of her charging me for extra fabric or them paying toward the alterations. Um I got the extra fabric for free from the designer thank you! We didn't even turn in our receipts to get this so called "alteration credit" because frankly I was not ever going to step foot in there again! Plus, I ended up with a $75 ticket for parking for 5 minutes to pick up the ill-fitting dresses! As someone who worked in retail for years and also a frustrated bride who tried to do everything right. This experience made me sick to my stomach and had me checking with JCrew last minute to see if they could ship 5 new dresses just in case! read more

I was sent to this place for a bridal gown because I was told they have simple, elegant dresses. Well, let's stop right there... The bridal gowns in flair are few in number, and drab in look. There were only two racks of gowns, and I could only find 3 to try on. The first two were so small that I couldn't fit them over my hips to even try on!!! (a problem that I really haven't had at other stores...). The dress that did sort of fit was plain, no detail, and no fun, much like all of the other gowns. I will say that it was a nice cut, and did have some quality (material, etc.) to it, but it was not what I was looking for at all. The whole store was a huge disappointment! I had the BEST experience at Flair! This was my first bridal dress appointment and Flair and Kaitie Silk knocked it out of the park! The entire experience was top notch. I showed Kaitie a handful of pictures with what I was looking for, and within minutes, she pulled about 10 dresses that all fit the bill. (I have no idea how she did that so quickly). I had a very positive experience here twice - the first time for a MOTB who wanted something that was more bridesmaid-y and less matronly, and the second time for my own wedding dress. Stacey helped us both times and was so friendly and helpful. I told her what I was looking for (short bridesmaid dresses that come in white for a city hall wedding), and she immediately had some great selections to show me. She listened well to my feedback, and really helped me imagine the whole ensemble. She also listened to me when my (wonderful, but very vocal) friends had ideas for me that I really didn't like. For most women growing up you have your dream wedding planned out. She was charming, organized, clear and direct. There was no BS. She didn't tell you what you wanted to hear she told you what you needed to hear. If we found something that wasn't in our price range she would find us something just as beautiful in a price range we could afford. I can't say enough positive comments about our experience yesterday, especially with Katie our consultant. My daughters appointment with Flair was set for 4:30 but unfortunately our appointment at a different shop ran a little longer which caused us to be around 20 minutes late. We were warmly welcome into their unique city salon on the second floor on Newbury Street. I wonder if other shops would have been so welcoming late in the day. Katie asked the bride a plethora of questions, including "have you tried other dresses before." The bride was completely open and honest with Katie and let her know that she had found a strong contender at another salon. Katie was very professional and transparent and respected the honesty. We showed Katie a picture of the competition and she proceeded to pull many out many beautiful dresses. She did mention she had one last one which was over budget and would not bring it out until the moms said they would cover the difference. So far, I've had a wonderful experience with Flair for my bridesmaids dresses! I was really uncertain and frustrated with choosing colors and dresses online before my appointment, but I was able to go a few weeks early (by myself) and they were such a big help. I booked an appointment knowing I really liked a dress at another store, but wanted to go to one more place before I made a final decision. Kaitie Silk was by far the best sales person I had at any wedding dress store I had been to. Since this was probably the last place I was going to go, she wanted me to be open/honest about my past experiences and even went as far as wanting to see the other dress I liked to get the best idea of what I was looking for. I had been to another store which was a warehouse and it was completely overwhelming. After that experience I was nervous that I wouldn't find a dress I liked at all. Until I came to flair. Let me be very clear that I am being generous with my three star review which is only for their location, adorable shop and wide selection of wedding dresses. I have been to this shop twice, once to shop with the bride for her dress and once to shop with the bride for my MOH dress. Making the appointment the first time, which was for a brides dress appt., was a breeze online and I received a prompt reply. Making the appointment for the second time for a bridesmaid dress was less impressive. I had to email the company 4 times just to get a response, and instead of emailing me back they called me. Lesson of communication - the way a customer contacts you is probably how they prefer to be replied to. If I call you don't email me a reply and just as equally if I email you don't call me with a reply. Maybe that's just me - but this is my review so I make the rules. Now, on to the main reason for docking this shop. For our bridal appointment we were running about 30 minutes late (combination of other appts running late & lack of parking) for our 1 hour appointment. When we came in we were welcomed and explained to that they have a strict 1 hour appointment for each bride and that given how late we were we would have time to try on only 2-3 dresses which we COMPLETELY agreed with and understood. We were late and it was totally our fault so we owned it and enjoyed the time that they did give us. On this appointment the gal was kind, helpful and conversational. For the second appointment for the bridesmaid dress fitting much different story. You read above about the issue in making the appointment and by the time they replied to me the only time they had left was not ideal, but we took it anyway. On the day of the appointment, mid morning they called to try and cancel our appointment because they had an employee call out sick. Now keep in mind my girlfriend and I had each driven 2 hours to get to Boston so coming another day was not an option. When I explained this to the woman on the phone she sounded annoyed and then said that if we could come in an hour later she could still squeeze us in. Really?! You can squeeze uuuussss in when it's you that's trying to cancel the appointment on us? On top of this the gal on this appointment day, which was the same as when we came in for a wedding dress fitting, was far less interested, looking at her watch and barely showing any interest. In this instance they need to take a page from their own book - minimum 24 hour cancellation notice, not the day of, and appointments are booked for one hour, if you need to change that on the day of you are shit outta luck. Practice what you preach to your customers and your customers will have a lot more respect for you. Although we found the bridesmaid dress here, I definitely will not be purchasing it from them. The dress is a better price and doesn't have any shipping charges at Nordstrom so that's who will be getting my order. read more

My consultant was very pushy about making a sale, and strangely seemed compelled to have me disregard my family's opinions about the dresses I was trying on. My folks were perusing the racks while I was getting dressed, and they unknowingly pulled a dress way out of my budget, to which my consultant loudly exclaimed in front of everyone, "oh no no, you shouldn't be anywhere near that rack. That's not for you!" She knew nothing about my relationship with my family, but she felt the need to diss them anyway. The second I tried on the expensive gown and told my folks I really liked it, the consultant could sniff out a potential big sale like a bloodhound and started fast-talking about how the dress would be gone in a few days (only to call me a few days later and tell me I could still order it through her???). Flair made me feel like a walking dollar sign rather than a bride-to-be. Good luck with that. Despite it being COVID times, Zoe made the experience as fun and seamless as possible.
