Slowest fast food place ever. The poor guy who is both selling at front desk and cooking in the back. I came here 4:23, left at 4:48....order 1 chicken plate, he has to cook all the 4 orders ordered after me and pack to me. Knowing that this is the most cost efficient way, but fast food needs to be fast, I don't want to wait 20 mins at any fast food place. read more

Looking for a healthy lunch? Flame Broiler is your place. As a guy that is super particular about my food, I was pleased by the healthy options here. I opted for the chicken, with white rice and a salad. The portion sizes were pretty good, and the food was not overly salted or too dry (as is the problem with a lot of places). To drink, I had the iced tea. The price is not too bad, it fall just shy of $10. The portion size is enough to keep me full for a few hours. This is great, as I have a habit of eating every 4 hours. I would call this place a good value. I will be back here periodical. I recommend it. read more

Located in the backside of the Vons parking lot, with limited parking due to other businesses. Great healthy fast food! They have great teriyaki sauce or if like it spicy they offer their own hot sauce. They give you plenty of food from chicken, veggies to a Korean bbq meat. For people with food allergies, this a place that is among the best to go to. My favorite is the steak and veggie over brown rice. Their soda machine needs some cleaning, was bit sticky. read more

In my opinion, Flame Broiler is the better quality version of Yoshinoya. The menu is pretty similar with only two options being beef or chicken. Typically, I like getting the half chicken and half beef plate with a salad and oranges. Most people have the assumption that Flame Broiler is "healthy". Yeah it doesn't have much saturated fat and it's high in protein and carbs for those who workout, but a half and half plate still has 850 calories, 820 mg of sodium, and 185 mg of cholesterol. To put that in perspective... If you are going off of a 2,000 daily calorie diet then that's around 40% of your daily calories, 35% of your daily sodium and 60% of your daily cholesterol. So it's far from "healthy", but like I said, it's high in protein and carbs for those who workout a lot. Anyway, Flame Broiler is a decent meal that is filling and tastes pretty good. I like mines with teriyaki and hot sauce. It makes it taste a lot better! read more

Recently stopped by this brand new location to see how it is. The first time I ever had Flame Broiler I had it in SD, and probably the tiniest location ever. The last time I had it was at the Hacienda Heights location, and it was just horrible... the brown rice was still hard and the chicken just did not have the right flavor, so I stopped going to Flame Broiler in LA, but decided to check the new spot out. It is a good way to eat somewhat healthy, especially in Gardena, where there's so many delicious eateries around, but not necessarily healthy. I went for the Chicken bowl with extra chicken and brown rice. The chicken is in small circular chunks, which is a little different from the SD location, which is with chopped up pieces. MUCH better than the Hacienda location though since the brown rice was cooked right and when the extra teriyaki sauce pours down to the rice, it is just so easy to scarf it up. The teriyaki sauce is still the best at Flame Broiler. For some reason I just can't get enough of the sauce. My chicken bowl with extra meat turned out to be around $8.50. Very pricey, especially for a chicken bowl, and in a city where you can get a nice lunch for the same price at other Japanese/Hawaiian eateries, but it does come with a drink so I guess the price covered that. The place is new, so it is very clean and comfortable for a quick lunch. Seems like the owners are Korean and they are very nice! Never thought that it would eventually grow to a fairly big chain, but I liked Flame Broiler in college and it was almost ruined by the Hacienda Heights location. Wouldn't mind coming back to Flame Broiler, but not quite yet part of my lunch rotation! read more

Never tried this fast food chain out. Glad I finally did at one of the newest locations. It's clean, speedy, and the cashier was friendly. So much better than Yoshinoya and those gross teriyaki joints in malls. And yeah better than Rascal's too; it never won me over in all my years in the G! A much needed break from sandwiches and fast food burgers when I'm making an auto parts run. Get the green onion topping. And the mini-bowl is great for a light snack / meal. read more

I'm very disappointed in this location's Covid and cleanliness practice. The young lady that took my payment, also went in the easily viewed area where the kitchen is and helped plate up my order with with her bare hands after handling money/ credit cards. She didn't wash them. Also the cook wore no mask..... during these Covid times . When I asked her to give me another lid and container because she didn't wash her hands, she got an attitude as if SHE was offended. Very disappointed . I won't be back! read more

In conjunction with my last review, today I came in and the prices have been raised a bunch (I know they can't really control that with taxes increasing). But the point of this update is to highlight that the cook never wears a uniform, a hair net, or anything. Picture below to proof it. I enjoy eating Flame Broiler, But the pregnant woman with the red colored eyebrows is really rude and she doesn't greet any customers. I just heard one customer greet her with a smile just so she can respond with a "Hi." She is even rude to the new trainee at the register. I may just travel to the F.B in Torrance because she is a mess. On a brighter note, food is well done and there is parking. No minimum on condiments. Prices have went up in the last year though. $6.25 for a mini chicken bowl. The 2 stars is just for the bowl. read more

I had heard about this chain for a while now but never went to one because I didn't have one near by. This specific one is fairly new and I can tell you I'm thankful for it opening in my city. The food is good and is a healthy option instead of a greasy plate or a burger. The service is good as well. Their friendly and have your order ready in no time. My fav item to order is the works bowl which consist of beef and chicken on top of a bed of steamed vegetables and your choice of brown or white rice. There's also this sauce they call Magic Sauce and I must say it's very tasty and goes perfectly with your rice. In all this is a good place to grab a good and tasty lunch. read more

I like this location because it's next to a jamba juice so it's easy for me to come into this wonderful restaurant and eat "healthy" only to exit and drink sugars in an abundant amount. This location was clean when I visited it, the woman behind the cash register was extremely delightful and the bathroom was behind a locked door which meant it was clean. Don't blow it up though because it's right in front of the kitchen and you'll have to walk the gauntlet through the droves of seating to get back to the front door. All in all the food was good, the drinks were choice and i enjoyed myself. read more

My first two experiences here at flame broiler were not great. The first time, I did not really like how the food tasted. The second time, I got a very bad stomach ache from the food. I decided three strikes and I'm done! The third time was SOOO good. I guess I just got very unlucky the previous times. I'm glad I gave this place a second chance because it has become one of my go-to spots for lunch/dinner. What I love about this place is the white or brown rice option. And no extra charge if you want either or. Also, I always get extra green onions and there is no extra charge on that either. Can't get better than that!! I wish they would add avocado but that's okay lol. Highly recommend it! Healthy and delicious read more

This one is way better than the one on Artesia. If you can, come to this one instead. When you call in an order, they get it right and don't act like you're inconveniencing them. Also the bowl is much fuller than the other location. Seems like they skimp out at the other place and the meal isn't as good. read more

I am a fan of Rascal's Teriyaki, but since this place is closer to my work, I go here. It's a chain, there for the food is what someone would expect every time the eat there. I've ordered the chicken bowls, mixxed plates, and short ribs, all are good. Service is fast, place is clean, and if you want to sit outside, there is a patio right next door in the shade. read more

I don't normally think to write a review on a franchise restaurant unless the place is particularly good or particularly awful. Fortunately, this place is consistently awesome! I've been to other flame broilers, some good, some meh. This one, every time, is consistent. They pack on the portions, the food is fresh, the seasoning is just right, and the people working there are really nice! Even with all the teriyaki bowl options that gardena has, this is actually my go to! read more

Please do not compare flame broiler to Waba Grill......They are not even in the same league as Flame Broiler is muchhhh better. Flame broiler is a healthy choice and this location is always a joy. The cashier (same guy every time, who I assume is the owner) is so nice and always gets my order right. Sometimes there is a bit of a line and a subsequent wait but things move pretty quickly. This location is clean and they have plenty of tables inside should you choose to dine in. read more

I never really crave flame broiler, but whenever I do I gotta have it! So glad I have one this close to home. I always get a chicken bowl with brown rice & extra green onions. The chicken is so perfectly grilled and juicy, no pink slime here. Throw some jalapeños and magic sauce in there and you're golden!! Good food that's good for you. Cons: -Poor attention to details. The wife got a fork with a piece of food stuck to it, which means it wasn't washed properly. We also only got one knife between the two of us. We ended up sharing the knife rather than asking for a second one. -Once the food was served to us, the server did not come around to check up on us. -Maybe it was meant to be served this way, but the scrambled eggs were overcooked. Despite some flaws, I would still recommend this place. Not going to penalize a place for mistakes that most customers probably wouldn't even notice or experience themselves. For the price point and quality of the food, this place is damn good.

The Mac salad was great, stick to your ribs kinda good Now I ordered several other plates for my friend, including the teriyaki chicken, and the fak'ed up fries with shrimp and karaage chicken. He said the fak'ed up fries were fire, so good, he didn't even know that's exactly what he wanted. I have to come back to try them - I didn't know they were a thing bc they're not on the menu. After my previous review, the owner actually reached out and offered to have me come back and try the food again, which I genuinely appreciated. I never took them up on the free food offer because I prefer to keep reviews honest, but the gesture still stood out to me. This time I ordered the 2-item combo with the honey sesame chicken karaage and kalua pork. The karaage was easily my favorite part of the meal. It was crispy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. I asked for all the sauces on the side and the green sauce paired really well with it. The kalua pork was tender, but a little sweeter than I personally prefer for traditional kalua pork, so I'd probably try a different protein next time instead. I also grabbed a spam musubi, but the portions were so generous that I didn't even get around to eating it until I got home later. While I still miss the old chicken katsu, I get that menus evolve, and overall this visit was a much better experience than my previous one.
