Food is fine but the front lady at the register is awful! She is the rudest and now I understand why it's always empty. She scares everyone away. I love waba grill but won't be coming to this location that's for sure. On top of which when we got our food, they totally skimped us on chicken. The food was good, no issues there. But man, does it feel like pulling teeth just to get some sauces. I understand they have limits per meal, but like even after paying for sauces at the register, I have to beg for them after. I feel like it's a burden for them to give sauces. I was very disappointed today. I ordered a tofu bowl online. When I got there to pick it up, I noticed it was wedged on the grill with other meats. I watched the cook pick it up and put it on the chopping block with several meat particles and then cut with the same knife. I asked the cashier why there wasn't a non-meat board being used for vegetarians. She rudely said to read the sign outside, they don't treat it differently. This sign says nothing about that. The food is good but the service is horrible the 12pm cashier on a Monday 3-25-2024 is rude and displays disgusting behavior! This one star is solely for the cashier yesterday that was working around 5:30-6 9/20/24. She was extremely rude. I first called to see if she could help with a problem I was having putting in a big order online, she was impatient and clearly annoyed. We figured it out about 2 minutes into the call and she hung up. She was so deeply unprofessional and did nothing to help once we arrived to pick up the 30 items for the team. She kept asking us to move the orders aside even though the order was not even halfway complete. There were no people waiting. The establishment was empty besides our order and about five minutes in a family walked in. It showed she has the capacity to be friendly and somewhat helpful. However from the phone to the in person pick up we were extremely unhappy with her lack of professionalism and courtesy. I love waba and usually never have issues ANYWHERE I go with receiving more hot sauce. The owner or idk who it was was really charging me for extra sauce and Strickly told me it was one sauce per bowl. I never had to pay anywhere I eat for an extra sauce for my meal. The last few times I've came the kind lady who's helped me before was super sweet and always gives me more then 1 sauce. I thoroughly enjoyed my Waba bowl. I got the veggie/rice bowl - half veg, half rice with meat on top. The server was really friendly and explained the difference between plates (bigger) and bowls (smaller) My husband got the salmon plate. He was a bit disappointed at the amount of salmon. We both agreed that the Waba sauce was really good. Toilets were clean, and even had a hook on the door to hang your bag. They have highchairs, but no changing facility. Searching for a quick carryout lunch on my lunch break, I stumbled across WaBa Grill off Portola. Apparently it's a chain, however I'd never seen one. Yelp reviewers seemed relatively happy with the food, and since Yelp has been my food benchmark since moving to a new locale, I decided to give it a whirl. It's an "order at the counter and your food is up in a about five minutes" kinda place. Not sure why other reviewers complain about service, the girl at the register was friendly, efficient and took it upon herself to pack up my container with the additional sauces I'd poured for myself. (They offer sriracha, teriyaki and other condiments at the counter with to-go ramekins) I ordered the teriyaki salmon over steamed white rice. Avocado is offered for an extra $1.50 (half an avocado, sliced) which I ordered. It complimented the salmon nicely. The container also comes with a little salad and half an orange (odd). The salad had an unoriginal Italian-type dressing, which was disappointing considering WaBa bills itself Asian. A ginger dressing would have been more appropriate. That being said, I was DELIGHTED that I found a replacement for the teriyaki salmon lunch I used to go get from Whole Foods around the corner from my workplace in Illinois. It was just as satisfying. Great portion size, too! WaBa offered different options, steak, chicken, shrimp, salmon -- some with rice, some with just veggies. I noticed while I was waiting that they offer kids portions of teriyaki chicken or beef. Seeing as I was unable to finish the "big kid" portion, I'm tempted to see if they'll sell me a kid lunch next time I visit them. I'll keep you updated, Yelpers ;) read more

I really think that this Waba grill is more of a 3.5 five stars I wish I could add another half. I actually think that this waba has good service. I have been to some waba girls and the service has been whatever. But this one was on point and has been the couple times I have grabbed some quick dinners. My meat always taste like it is freshly grilled and not just sitting and thrown on top of some rice. I usually go with angus beef with white rice bowl. This always does the trick and never really let's me down. I really enjoy their garlic spicy sauce that they added to their menu it's really good pairing with the grilled steak. I Always get lemon on the side to throw on top of my meats adds that zest. It's just a standard meal not going to blow you away but will always be solid has never let me down! I ordered the #2 Steak Combo Plate: The steak was cut into small pieces with barbeque sauce and it was very tasty, it was placed on top of a bed of steam rice with cut up green onions; there was an orange that was cut into four slices, and also a small salad; with green lettuce, purple lettuce, sliced carrots with vinegarette dressing on top. Great customer service! The staff here has always been really friendly every time I dine here. They greet you with a big smile and a friendly "hello". They're quick, attentive, and good people. The food is pretty good too. I think it's way better than Flame Broiler. The chicken is fresh and cooked perfectly. The veggies are also good - not too soggy, and not under steamed.
