Half and half (chicken and beef) bowl with brown rice, veggies and green onions.
    Calvin N. H.

I've been coming to this place for so long... I was certain that I left a review. Flame Broiler is a fast food chain restaurant that serves up Korean inspired goods. I usually order chicken, beef or half and half, but I believe they have a tofu option as well. Ordering is simple. First decide what portion you want: mini bowl, bowl, or plate. Next decide protein: beef, chicken, or half and half... or tofu. Then the base brown or white rice. It can also come with veggies (broccoli, cabbage and carrots). And the last option green onions. I usually get a half and half bowl (beef and chicken) with brown rice, veggies, and green onions. It is a good portion and comes out pretty quickly. There is a sauce station where you can put their "Magic" sauce (it's like a teriyaki sauce) and they have a spicy sauce. I recommend trying some in a little sauce container before putting it all over your food, just in case it is not to your liking. The protein is tender and tasty, especially with the magic sauce. I get a side of spicy sauce for dipping. The meat is charbroiled, not fried. So it has a nice smokey char kind of taste. I'm unsure what some reviewers were saying about the meat being dry like "beef jerky." Looking at the pictures, it looks nothing like beef jerky. It's a fast food chain... they are cooking up huge quantities of protein in batches. It's not going to be perfectly cooked like a steak made to order. It's a fast food joint... not a steak house. Not sure if what people are expecting, but there's no pleasing everyone. Anyhow, this joint has healthier options, that is served up quick. Service is usually good and they rarely make a mistake on my order. I think once they gave me white rice instead of brown rice. It wasn't the end of the world. I just ate my bowl with white rice. I didn't want them to toss the food and waste it. I believe they just introduced wings on the menu but not every location sells them. I haven't tried ordering yet, but I've seen the little advertisement tent on the table. I think some locations also serve salads. Overall, I'm a fan. I've been coming here on and off for years and will continue to be a customer here. 4 / 5: Food 4 / 5: Cleanliness 4 / 5: Service 4 / 5: Overall

FLAME BROILER @ MISSION VALLEY Stumbled upon this place with my friends, parking was free and right out front. Walking in the place it a bit small, it does have a few tables, and you can order then choose a seat. This place was okay for what it was and the food, It was just $9 for a chicken and rice bowl, which was a good price. I felt that it was a bit dry especially biting into the chicken, it wasn't moist, it didn't feel fresh, it felt more "warm". Rice was mushy, not the best i've had. Overall, I don't think i'd come back to this spot, quality of the chicken could be improved. However, service was kind, parking was easy, and ambiance was welcoming,

I love Flame Broiler! it's kinda my go to right now:) healthier choices for fast food- with a lot of different combinations. Great service friendly and courteous. Super Reasonable prices -protein quality is there! Vegetarian choices too -Enjoy!

I ordered and asked for kimchi and they left it off. It's pretty careless to have someone pay an extra $3.59 and leave it off of this very simple and basic order.

I wish I had read the reviews before placing my Uber Eats pickup order. On the upside, there was plenty of parking, and my food was ready in under 10 minutes. It was waiting on the counter when I arrived, packaged with silverware and extra sauce. There was plenty of indoor as well as outdoor seating. Pros: I ordered the chicken rice bowl and added extra meat for $3.75, bringing my total to $15.95. It definitely came loaded with meat. Cons: The bowl was so full of meat that I couldn't really mix it with the rice underneath. I had requested half rice and half vegetables, but there were barely any veggies. On top of that, it was extremely salty and tasted more like fast food than something fresh or healthy. You get a generous portion for the price, but the quality just doesn't hold up.

Steak Bulgogi Bowl not worth it here
    Joshua D.

I ordered two steak Bulgogi bowls, one for myself and one for a coworker. It wasn't worth it. The meat was dry and flavorless and tough. It was worse than beef jerky. It had no flavor and very chewy and hard very dry. The veggies were nonexistent two pieces of broccoli sprinkle cabbage. I can't believe the rice was bad the white rice Which has no flavor, Usually it had a bad flavor when you open the bowl It just smelled bad. The lady behind the counter took my order and was screaming at me through a mask like I was deaf or hard of hearing and kept asking me the same question and I keep giving her the same answer. It was weird. The food didn't even come out fast, but the guy making it in the back seem to be over cooking everything I couldn't even eat my food and I was hungry so I drank water and called it a loss. I can never come back here again. I used to love the flame broiler. I would crave it. I guess Waba Grill has my business. I think that was my mistake. I thought I was gonna get Waba grill quality but ending ended up getting worse than beef jerky for 10 times more so I'm sorry, but this is not the place.

Tough meat, don't think I would get this again. The red sauce is spicy. I wish I could get a portion in between the bowl and the plate.

Aside from the food, the service was great from the busboy to our server, and to the lady (owner?) who wished us well as we left the restaurant. The ambiance was great. It felt like I was in a small Korean village restaurant enjoying local cuisine. While the food, service, and ambiance were great, the parking situation is brutal. It is a small lot shared with other businesses in the plaza and spaces can be tight for a truck or SUV. The key here is patience or arrive early. We made it before our reservation and I'm so glad we got a head start since I knew we would be on Convoy (iykyk). Overall, they really went the extra mile to accommodate a reservation for our large party and their service was above and beyond. Kudos to their team. And their dishes are worth coming back to. Here we go - so I paid full price for a combo meal, but several of the included items weren't available. They were out of my side dishes, out of rice for tomorrow, and ultimately had no rice at all--yet I was still charged full price. What's frustrating is that two different servers encouraged me to order the combo meal in the first place. I was dining in and also placing a takeout order, but I never received everything that was included in what I purchased. As someone who occasionally does paid collaborations with restaurants, I want to be clear that this was not a collaboration. It was simply a regular customer experience. It's eye-opening to see how some restaurants operate when you're just another paying customer. Experiences like this make you wonder whether the level of service changes when promotions or influencers are involved. Being in "ninja mode" definitely gives you a different perspective. At the end of the day, customers should receive what they're paying for--or be charged accordingly when key items are unavailable. Restaurants need to do better.

The seollongtang is also really solid, but my current favorite is the spicy buckwheat noodles. So good. Service has been great every time, everyone is really friendly and attentive. The service was solid, staff were friendly, attentive, and quick to clear empty plates. The quality of the meat was really good. I highly recommend the beef belly, and the corn cheese was a standout for me--I had like three plates of it because it was that good. Our group had a great time overall. They also offer free ice cream (chocolate, vanilla, and green tea) for all guests, which was a nice touch. The restaurant itself is clean, including the bathrooms, and the ambiance is great. Just be prepared, you will smell like Korean BBQ afterward. Overall, I'd definitely recommend stopping by!
