I personally love Chinese buffets. They always have okay versions of dozens of various Asian and American dishes all ready for sampling and all-you-can-eating. Flaming Grill is on par with my expectations of a buffet place. A lot of other reviewers seem to expect a 5-star cloth napkin kind of place. Those people need a reality check. I'm thankful that buffets are back because at one point last year, I was sure that buffets would become obsolete. Buffets are my go-to for lazy days and/or when no one can decide what they want to eat. Despite prices increasing everywhere, Chinese buffets will always be a bargain when you consider the selection and abundance of food. I went back to Flaming Grill for Saturday dinner for the first time since covid, and there was a noticeable improvement. The place was super clean, all the buffet trays had heaps of freshly cooked food, and even the sushi section was appealing (I had always avoided it before). It was like a grand re-opening, and I hope they keep it up like this. Flaming Grill is priced higher than other Chinese buffets, but it is priced appropriately. Been quite awhile since I've had buffet and I know why. I may have came on a bad day or a late day for lunch (1:30pm). Food was very mediocre. Lots of chicken dishes (chicken with broccoli, chicken tenders, chicken wings, beef was overcooked and tough. The guy at the hibachi tries his best but he really overcooked the dish making it very tough and unappealing. My mom had the sushi rolls and said those were good. Even though it was only $8.99 i felt I didn't get my money's worth (yes alot of food but they all look so drab). Best was the ice cream fridge where you can get individual types of ice cream bars and ice cream. Service was prompt and water filled up quickly. If variety is what you're looking for, this is the place for you. Had no problem with the food, it is a buffet after all so there are things you should expect, it is not your high end fancy restaurant lol. But I had no complaints, food was great, you could see they changed the batches pretty often, the sushi was okay too. I didn't try the hibachi side but it looked pretty good. I had picked the garlic bread, crab rangoon, pizza, fried dough, and sushi. the garlic bread was as hard as a rock, i smacked it against the table and it sounded like a brick. the second i bit into the crab rangoon i spit it out, it was so sweet and disgusting. the pizza was doughy and didn't taste good at all. the fried dough was also as hard as a rock, burnt, and didn't have the normal amount of powdered sugar. and i was scared to even eat the sushi, i only had the rolls with cucumber and avocado, even then the rice was hard and crusty. the service was okay, i think that may have been the best part. the place is so big, which isn't a bad thing if it's utilized properly, but it's so big it feels empty. overall, i wasn't very pleased with my experience. read more

Live near here for years but have never gone. Decided to try it last weekend. Went on a Saturday night. Quickly filled up as we were there. There are plenty of stations including hibachi and sushi. We tried a little bit of everything. The hibachi was decent. However the filet we got was just one big piece of steak not cut up. And they don't give you a knife. The sushi was just okay. There was lots of variety. A lot of the stations didn't match up to what was on the card. You definitely get a lot of food. But nothing really stood out. I've gone to other Chinese buffets where there has been some really great food. But this was more of if you just want to load up on different things. Their dessert area was okay. They had a freezer case with different types of ice cream pops. I'd have to say the best thing was the banana pudding. When we were leaving we realized we didn't even get to the salad bar. This place has a huge selection and you get a lot of bang for your buck! There were rows upon rows of food and a whole section of them featured seafood. I was surprised because many other buffets only serve good seafood on the weekends and we went on a Wednesday night. They had a ton of crab, which weren't super fresh but were acceptable. Their crawfish and shrimp though were delicious and fresh. Flaming Grill also has a large selection of sushi, mostly with imitation crab meat but they were all very good. They also had a variety of fruits and I was surprised that they even offered dragonfruit, one of my favorites but hard to find. My wife and I had lunch here for the first time today. It was $11.99 per person, no drinks. Based on the cost per person, we were happy with the quality of the food. There was a large selection of all sorts of things, from soups to appetizers, main courses and desserts. They did have multiple varieties of basic types of fresh sushi, as well as hibachi. If you placed all the small Chinese takeout places in Central Jersey end to end and back to back, you would have one supersized restaurant the size of Flaming Grill. The place is a warehouse of Asian (mainly Chinese) delights. As with most buffets, it is impossible to taste everything they spread out on the half dozen steam tables under heat lamps, and the carving stations, sushi on ice, and dessert options in one seating. That is part of the attraction, and also part of the weight problem that is gaining in size in this country. The temptation to overeat is almost insurmountable. This place has a host who places you strategically around the room, and a harem of young lovelies who take care of your every edible need. They are bright, friendly and charming. It is good to see so many college students with jobs, although the wonder here is whether they would have them at $15. per hour, because tipping at buffets is not a given. The diversity of offerings is huge. They advertise that there are at least 250 different choices every day. That is probably true, but I didn't want to count them. I focused on the Chinese section of the house, which was the largest. Just in chicken, they had: Sesame, Salt & Pepper, Broccoli, Mixed Veggies, General Tso, Bourbon, Orange, Fried and Hibachi alternatives; plus 4 kinds of rice. A small sampling of those, with the accompanying Dumplings, Egg Roll, Summer Roll, and String Beans, and this boy was stuffed. Well, almost. I had to cave for the Peanut Butter Pie before checking out. Everything I tried was okay, but nothing special. It was about the same quality as the better takeout joints, and far better than the bottom rung of that species; yet far from the better in house dining establishments. The problem was that nothing was quite hot enough, and some were already almost room temperature. For the most part, the kitchen turned out typical Chinese American fare. That is not a major complaint, because it would be foolish to think that a buffet, AYCE house, would attempt to reach a higher plateau than is available elsewhere. As long as it is decent on average, it can be successful with the large customer base it seeks. There will likely be an economic cost to this newest generation of the Asian buffet concept. Many of the small mom & pop stands around the area will lose business to Flaming Grill because it is a "One Stop Shop." It competes on merchandise and on price. My platter, complete with a slice of Peanut Butter Pie (pretty good), came to $9, plus tax. I could have gorged until the cows came home for the same price. The little mama and papa-sans will fall by the wayside as their customers realize that they eat in or take out from this Super Store and save money. Walmart of the Chinese American market. Heard some buzz that this place is hot. I came but found nothing special. Typical Chinese Buffet. Yes they have so many varieties of food: prime ribs, crabs, mussels, oyster, crawfish, fried fish, many varieties of chicken, sushi, hibachi, and everything that a Chinese Buffets offer. They have everything but nothing special that make me wants to come back. I honestly didn't try the sushi nor the fresh mussels, it just felt to sketchy for me considering how low their price is. My friend really enjoyed it tho' ... he had at least 3 full plates of fresh oysters, 3 large crabs ... and many many more plates of other stuff. The only difference compared to other Chinese buffets is that they have individually wrapped ice creams, not that regular big bulk ice cream that you have to scoop out yourself. If you happen to find yourself at the Kuser Road K-Mart plaza and you see a parking lot full of cars, there's a good chance they're not there for Planet Fitness nor for K-Mart. They're probably at the Flaming Grill & Buffet. I was totally surprised not just by the volume of customers there for lunch, but at the number of steam tables and variety of food they have. They advertised for a $6.29 lunch or $9.59 dinner with a Clipper coupon (normally $8.69 and $10.99 except Sunday). As far as Asian Buffet restaurants go, you can't beat the price, quality and service. There were at least 8 serving areas grouped by salads, dessert, protein, pasta, fried, etc. They also include the Hibachi as well as Sushi (sushi chef on premises). The wait staff keeps you plates fresh and refills the food stations as fast the the hungry customers can devour. My typical criteria are the peel & eat shrimp, seafood, lo mein and egg rolls. All were great. The shrimp were extra large. They had clams, mussels, blue claw crab, cooked pepper shrimp, calamari and a wide variety of American style foods such as pizza, stuffed potatoes, chicken wings, prime rib and spare ribs (probably boiled & sauced, but still pretty good). Service was excellent. My drink was refilled when the glass was only half way down. The place is pretty big with many tables & booths. I hope to be back to try the dinner. read more

Although they did have turkey, ham and roast beef. I did enjoy the turkey, mainly because it wasn't the dry garbage everyone else cooks. Came for the Grand Opening night and they really went all out to impress us. A raw bar full of shrimp, mussels, clams, and oysters. All the hot Chinese and American food you come to expect at a buffet. A habachi grill with a cook to fry up your custom orders. And a great variety of sushi, sashimi, and rolls. The staff was very eager to serve us and the owner was running all over the place to make sure opening night ran smoothly.
