The food here is truly amazing. I am very impressed. The service was speedy and attentive and the portions are huge. We ordered the carne asada super nachos and the portion was massive. It was delicious and flavorful. The chili verde was also mouthwatering. It was on the saltier side but not unpleasantly so because it went well with the rice. The green salsa was perfect and so flavorful. We ordered a horchata which came in a GIANT beer mug and they are so generous that even thiugh we asked for no ice, that didn't stop her from filling it up to the top. Its authentic, delicious, and at a great value. Highly suggest you try it out. We will definitely be back. read more

Okay, so I still really like this place, and I came a few more times before deciding to decrease my star rating by one star. I ordered the fish taco, and it was very salty. I mean, I can do salty, for example Mc Donald's French fries salty, but for some reason the fish tasted like it was marinated in salt. I have to admit my taste buds are super sensitive, and it must have something to do with the fact I don't eat meat. Anyhow, we went back again and this time I decided to stay safe and just ate a cheese quesadilla, and you can't go wrong with that. My husband on the other hand ordered a super burrito with carna sada. I watched as he dissected his burrito into pieces. I asked him what was wrong and he said the meat tasted bad. I can't speak for my husband, but I'm sure if he would have written this review he might have given this place less stars. We never had this problem when we ordered the tacos, so we will try again soon. My husband still loves their oversized Horchata! read more

First time at flamingos Taqueria. They have great authentic ambience . They have awesome fresh ingredients. Their food tastes amazing the only thing I didn't like as much was the guacamole. But that's how it's made from the state of Mexico where they're from. Overall it was an excellent experience and I would definitely come back for seconds. Walked in and immediately saw raw meat turned brown on the bar area. Then I placed my order for 6 tacos total and a drink, it's was repeated back to me at least 20x then I go to pay and the machine clearly states American Express is accepted. All of a sudden my card was thrown around between two people and in general I didn't get my tacos or a matter a fact that money was not taken off my card. read more

Flamingos should be renamed Flamin-no go. I was 1 of the only 2 people there, it took them 35 minutes to make my little al pastor burrito and everyone else that came in after me got their burritos before I did. Not sure if they had to run to the Asian grocery store next door, because the pork tasted more Asian than Mexican. If you want good Mexican food walk across the parking lot to Iguanas or go down the street to the Shell gas station's taco truck to save yourself from puking like I did when I got home. read more

Nice sit-down atmosphere for a taqueria. Asada taco had great flavor and pastor was also very good. Chips and salsa were good, but salsa could use some more spice in my opinion. This rating has a star only because I can't give it 0 stars. We ordered 3 asada tacos and half the meat in the tacos was fat & nerve! We also ordered a super burrito wet with green sauce which they said okay too but when we got it it was red sauce. When we told them they then told us they didn't have green sauce. Aside from that, the burrito wasn't super either. Even the horchata was terrible. Don't waste your money or your time. read more

Amazing! Finally found a place that sells tortas Hawaiianas that are made freshly where the bun isn't soggy and messed up. I'm also picky when it comes to horchata. I hate the kind of horchata that is powdery and fake. I'm pretty sure this is fresh homemade horchata and the cinnamon isn't too over powering and it's not too sweet. Really great, traditional Mexican food, made fresh, served hot. Tacos are as you would get in Mexico utilizing two very fresh corn tortillas. My fish tacos were brilliant; lots of fish, spiced perfectly. Shrimp sopas were not on the menu, but were unhesitatingly made up for us. Service was friendly and efficient. This was the second time for us here. I neglected to review at that first time. Probably would have given five stars in the Spring. I'm giving four stars now (July) because at lunch time anyway, it was pretty hot in the restaurant. No A/C or broken? I don't know. Fix that and I'll revise review to five stars! read more

This was delicious, my new favorite taqueria in San Jose. I had the super carne asada burrito and my wife had a chicken quesadilla. My burrito was delicious, it had a lot of meat where as a lot of places put a lot of rice and beans and little meat this was mostly meat and the other ingredients just complimented the flavor of the (delicious) meat. The quesadilla was delicious as well, gooey cheese and just the right ratio of meat to cheese. Not just that, but their fresh chips were delicious and the salsa had great flavor of only a little spicy for a wimp like me, but it was so delicious it didn't stop me. The wife and I stopped in on a Saturday while car shopping, and were pleasantly surprised. To start the chips and salsa were perfect, just the right amount of spice on the salsa for both of us, I like mine on the spicy side and Karen likes hers on the mild side, this was right in between. Second plus side was the kids menu that fit our son's appetite perfectly. Karen went with the enchiladas, I opted for the tacos (2 asada, 1 Pastor). Unimpressed. I had tacos. Waiter told me best carnitas in town. They were fatty and I bit into a piece of grissel. Upon further inspection, it also had bone. Beef was similar minus the bone. Chicken was also similar and did have a piece of bone. Bottom line, they do not trim their meat well at all. Worst taco experience in years. I showed the waiter and he just said sorry about that. It happens. No discount on food offered. I paid the bill without further comment. I hope for all the high reviews that I had a one off experience. Either way, I won't be back. read more

I can't understand the favorable ratings of this place. When we walked in at 7:00pm, we were the only customers in the place. This should have been a sign. The two workers were standing on a ladder screwing in a filthy vent. I noticed a pile of meat sitting in one corner of the cooktop. With trepidation, we ordered the nachos with carne asada. The server told us they had only been open two weeks (apparently new owners) and they didn't have beer or wine as they had no liquor license - even though it was on the menu. I dug into the nachos, but the meat on the nachos tasted grisly and over cooked, or maybe recooked. After my dining companion returned from the restroom, I noticed his reluctance to eat; he suggested I visit the restroom too and have a look around. Disgustingly filthy is an understatement. Not the restrooms so much, but the adjoining area to the kitchen. Dirt, empty bottles, and unidentifiable debris on the floors; this would definitely not pass any inspection. Then I noticed the pile of meat on the cooktop was gone - apparently now on our nachos. How long had that meat been sitting there? That and the lack of hand washing after handling the filthy vent was starting to make my stomach turn. We requested the remaining food to go and threw it in the trash on the way to the car. Gross!
