Food is just okay but service is extremely slow. Two people in the kitchen, 1 guy running around and a dozen people confused and just waiting for food. It took 30 minutes to get a bean burrito. The service was fast. I ordered a super veggie burrito to-go and was handed my order under 10 minutes! The ambience is nice and unique - it is a good place to dine in. The burrito was "stout" - short but really had a lot of stuffing in it! For the price, it is a decently sized burrito and filling. 3 stars because unfortunately the burrito lacked flavor - it felt cheesy and didn't have any sauce inside of the burrito or the sauce was bland. We go to Freedom Burrito when we want comfort food. Chile Verde is my go to, though the pastor, carnitas, barbacoa, and carne asada are always good. Their meats are cooked well- moist and flavorful. Rice and beans are decent. Their chili is a bit on the hot side (both red and green), so we stick with whatever is on our food. My mom gets red enchiladas, usually beef and leaves happy. I've only ever ordered on DoorDash. One time I ordered and they didn't have the meat I wanted so they replaced it with something else without calling me. The problem with that is that it was so tender and delicious except I don't know which one it is. I thought it was pork (Al pastor) but when I tried ordering that at a later date, it wasn't the same. It tasted tough and hard. Looked different too. So still on the hunt for which protein they replaced my original order with. Wish I took a picture of it. Had a chance to try Freedom Burrito and this was great! I had some leftover Grubhub credit left and we decided to try this spot out. This is located in a lot with lots of stores and lots of parking. The ambiance is pretty casual and a great spot for a quick lunch. I ordered before going and once I got here my order was ready and packed up to take away which was great! It was fast and efficient. I ended up ordering and trying the al pastor burrito - the size was big and I enjoyed every bite of it! The meat was well seasoned and I would order this again! I prefer to get takeout since it's a little odd for seating. The service has always been warm and nice. We love their food although we usually get their burritos. Sorry, I liked FreedomBurrito before ( I only tried it one time) & prices were more reasonable. The first time I gave it 4 or 5 stars ( the Chicken was good but just too much...I wanted more bean but they gave me alot Chicken). I really like Beans. I guess this time, they are pretty Cheap on the Beans. Even tho they gave me alot of Rice, I really wanted more Beans. I guess dont come here if you like Beans, as they dont give you much ( if you order Chicken, they give alot but just not much bean....i have no idea why as i thought beans are cheap...one day i will open my own burrito place & just give people more bean as I love Mexican bean) So yeah, I was disappoint because even tho the Rice was very good, just hardly any Beans again. I did tell the Cashier guy. Maybe he had accent & cook did not understand. I did ask for more beans, but did not get hardly any...just rice. It was delicious just lack protein. I guess i have to go back to Taco Mania near airport. The TacoMania near Coleman Rd & airport always gave me massive Extra Bean & has the best Bean burrito, plus the Airport/ Coleman taco trucks burrito are bigger than here. The people running the place were calm and polite, they greeted with a nod and some friendly words. The environment had a chill feel to it, not too bright or loud. The food took a bit but it was hot and tasted fresh. I liked that they werent trying too hard to impress, just making food that tasted right. The flavors were clean and honest, and even the sides were done well. Nothing on the plate felt like an afterthought. The staff even asked how everything was going without making it feel forced. There are way too many great Mexican spots in San Jose for this one to be able to be in business. I feel bad for the people that gave this place good reviews. This is a hidden gem in my neighborhood and definitely a place I return to for great Mexican food. My husband and I dined in this time and he ordered two of the barbacoa and al pastor tacos and made it a platter and I ordered the potato tacos dinner plate. We both enjoyed our plates! I highly recommend checking out this unassuming tacqueria for some delightful bites. All the food is great here and the menu is very large with many favorite options available. I had a carne asada Super burrito platter. How the f@)&;$ do Spanish people f&:$/$ up Mexican food so badly. It was one of the worst burritos I've had in my entire life. The carne asada was less than half cooked and most of the meat was chewy like beef tendon. The Spanish rice was dry and just not good. The refried beans were just as bad. The entire plate was borderline not edible and ranged from barely cooked long enough to not edible. Here's some advise. Hire some people that enjoy cooking. Whoever was cooking obviously doesn't enjoy doing it, it's like they are being forced to cook and it shows. If this continues this place needs to go out of business.... read more

Horchata: vanilla, sugar, and ground cinnamon. This was decent. Hawaiian Breeze: Coconut, strawberries, bananas, pineapples, Non-Fat yogurt, blended together with Apple Juice. You could really taste the strawberries and the soft coconut meat. Mango Passion: strawberries, peaches, mango, Non-Fat yogurt, blended together with mango juice. Creamy and delicious. I live out of the area, but go to Santa Clara to visit family a few times a year. Discovered Freedom Burrito last summer. WOW !! What a great taqueria. The Burritos are awesome ! The chicken was in huge 1" chunks in the verde sauce with good flavor, beans, and melted chips. Huge quantity too for under $13. I will definitely keep this in mind for another time. I've been craving quesabirrias for ages. I saw that freedom burrito had them from Yelp, but didn't see it on the menu inhouse. I guess you can order it online and pick up or get it delivered. Anyhow, I set my eyes on the al pastor super burrito next. This is a GIANT burrito. Lots of yummy ingredients inside as well. They loaded it up with guac, sour cream, cheese, beans, and rice. Plenty of meat as well. The hot sauce they offered was REALLY good and also pretty hot. I'm a spice lord so it was amazing. If you're a bit wimpier, maybe taste a bit before incorporating it in your burrito. Would definitely return! I'll get the quesabirria tacos next time! Used to come here daily when I lived in San Jose, I still often DoorDash my clients some soup when they are sick. I was in the area and craved the albóndiga soup but was sadly disappointed. The broth seemed to be more of a menudo broth and the meat balls were chewy, I got two carrots, two meat balls and two zucchini with a small amount of cabbage. Customer service was good, staff was friendly. Tortillas were hand made and delicious, probably won't be stopping by here again, place was empty and hasn't changed a bit. read more

I asked what was the most popular meat thinking it would be carne asade or pork, but no it was the chicken which was shredded and falling apart. So tender and juicy.
