I was there with some friends last Friday night after dinner. Sitting there having a great time, playing some jams on the jukebox while drinking drinks. An hour into the night, a DJ showed up, overriding the Jukebox. I went up to the bartender, told him I had just put 10 bucks into the machine. He turned around without hesitation, grabbed the money out of the register and gave me a refund. That is how your run a business! The staff here has a really bad vibe. Bartender was rude and negative when I first walked in. An hour later - without any basis whatsoever - he escalated an argument, unnecessarily came around the bar, put his hands on me, and kicked me out for basically no reason whatsoever (other than he seemed to know another patron who blew his cool when we asked if a stool was available). Totally unnecessary and unprofessional. I think that the bartender may be having a sexual relationship with that other patron. Whole scene at that bar is very odd. Sad! read more

Well, ended up here with a bunch of people and overall had a great time. Irish bartender dudes were a bit surly, but with $4 Landshark pints, darts, and tons of space to hang out, what's not to like? The crowd ranged from random very old people to college kids, and the DJ ranged from decent jams to "I can hear the fact that this guy has walked away from his dj stand over there." As a heads up, the menu on their plastic table stand is from the place next door. I ordered the Mac and cheese which was delicious but overpriced. Very spacious bar, close to the subway. Pretty good deal for happy hour ($10 pitchers). I was here only briefly around 7-8pm, and so there were not too many customers. Unfortunately, there is no food served, but they have no problem with guests bringing in outside food. The bartender was also pretty nice. I ordered a Sam Adams, but it was coming out foamy, so he apologized for it-- I'm always a fan of nice bartenders! I have been to Flannery's many times, I have even celebrated New Years Eve there. It is a good place if you are a big group. However, last time I was there , May 2nd , made me not want to go there ever again. I showed up there waiting for 10 friends. We were going to watch a game together. I ordered a beer from the chubby grey haired bartender. I got the beer and the bartender started cleaning the bar from dirty glasses and went on to put them right under my nose. I asked him kindly if he could move it somewhere else. His response: "This is how we do it here, If you don't like it, you can leave". I left after I finished my beer. Needless to say, I will never go back. The bartender was obviously not the sharpest tool in the shed, since he lost business from 10 guys, as well as losing a regular customer. read more

I have no idea how he's still employed in the service industry. And on top that, the bar is total dump. Flat beer, watered down booze, no food. I asked for a drink and it took no less than 20 minutes for him to finish pouring it. Also because I used his outlet to charge my transportation, he kicked me out like I was a terrorist. I don't understand why someone would treat someone like crap for coming to their bar and spending $25 on one drink. It's a shame. Some of these recent poor reviews of Flannery's Bar seem to reflect more on the reviewer than the bar. Walking in at closing near 4am when the staff is trying to close, order water and act offended and cry "racism" when you get eye-rolled; the dollar tip isn't worth it when the bar is trying to close. I've been coming to Flannery's off and on for years and the staff has been nothing but gracious from day one. I guarantee if you experience an attitude, you brought it with you. Long story Short : Great bar if your expectations of it are realistic. It's a dive bar for sure. Kinda dirty, loud, drunk people being kind of douchy, but it makes it awesome. Ok..... so I give it to my friend. There goes this night.... couple of beers in, we switch to liquor. I order my bf a jack & coke. Dude hands me the whole bottle, says pour it myself. LOL ok....I do, but I don't over do the pour, and he's like, really? I would have taken the whole bottle , and doesn't charge me. I'm not one to come in and use someone's restroom for free without tipping or at the very least having a beer (I work in service and understand how annoying this can be) I proceed to use the restroom before buying a beer which didn't seem like a big deal to me but apparently the bartender assumed I was being rude/offensive for saying give me a minute (so I can use the rest room & then come back to get my beer) a fellow patron of the place decided to come deescalate the flustered man who reassured me I will not be using his restroom and asked me if "I want to mess with him" needless to say I ended up giving him $6 for the beer I was originally going to buy. I'm not sure about these negative reviews - I had a blast when I went there this past weekend for the game. The crowd is friendly as are the bartenders. One of the bartenders even bought me a beer. It does get crowded for the games so if you want a seat I would suggest going there about 30mins early. read more

after my grad school orientation, some people came over for a few cocktails. it was...basic. the drinks were pretty cheap. it's a pretty standard irish bar type of place. one interesting note, on wednesdays they have a hasher meet up. so, if you are into that, take note. i think that i'd come here after class or something like that, but i wouldn't make it a destination. read more

I came in here with 4 other friends and the bar tender was SUPER rude! My phone had died and I was charging it and was approached by the bouncer who aggressively asked me if I was going to order anything or just charge my phone! I was unaware that I had broken their rules, I didn't ask permission so I was unwelcome. I then ordered a drink and the bar tender seemed nice at first, but then I realized it was all fake. I have never met such a NASTY Irishman, I actually didn't think they existed, until then. He was rude to my friends and when I asked him about my phone he screamed at me and told me I walked in there and didn't ask permission! I asked if I needed to pay him to charge my phone and he scoffed at me. It's nice to know that he cares about the safety of women in NYC, what an asshole. I would NOT recommend this bar to ANYONE. read more

Classic divey Irish place! Pretty dark inside. Honestly, I feel like with divey and Irish, I could go two ways: I like super Irish places like Percy's and Moran's Chelsea, OR I like super divey places like Raccoon Lodge and White Horse Tavern. This place was kind of in-between... which confuses me because I am not sure how to classify! But to take it as it is: a nice, cheap spot, a good Irish bartender, and friendly patrons. Had the most unpleasant experience here... if I could give it a "0" I would. Came here to meet some friends who were out for Santa Con on 12/9/2017. We ordered a few rounds of drinks for a bunch of people so we've spent plenty of cash! There's was some dart tournament going on ... so as we were standing we had our coats on a chair ... the bar attendant rudely ordered us to move our stuff as this seat was reserved for the people playing a tournament and that their stuff was on the chair ... ummm clearly the chair was empty otherwise I would have never left my coat there. As I tried to explain this to the bar attender he blatantly said "if you don't like it get the fuck out of here" ... he then continued raising his voice, yelling and cursing at us. I work in the customer service industry, I have worked in plenty of bars and restaurants all through college and I have never encountered such disrespect in my life. You never, ever raise your voice at a customer and use foul language ... this man by the name of "Jay" is a horrible representation of this establishment and should be reprimanded as an employee and clearly needs anger management treatment. read more

Real divey. I like divey though. Darts, beer, stuff is relatively affordable for someone without much desire to spend too much. The booths are big and there's usually people coming in and out in large groups. Didn't spend too much time here but I had a good time for the most part. read more

This is the perfect laid back Irish pub. Its basically Cheers if you go in regularly you quickly get to know the very friendly bar tenders. Always generous with a buy back after a few drinks. On Fri and Sat they have a DJ. Which can be fun if you are with a group who enjoys dancing. My favorites are quiet week nights with a local crowd. read more
