While the server was very kind and prompt, the food was lacking. The couple at the table next to us had to ask for their toast to be toasted because it wasn't even toasted. My daughter was given a bowl of fruit that consisted of molded strawberries. I have included a picture of the second bowl, that had obviously old strawberries in a bowl that had not been washed. I rarely write reviews, but Flapjacks is a gem. Spent the weekend nearby and just found this spot by luck. Small, but comforting. Greeted as we opened the door. The friendliest staff ever. Four of us all ordered different items for breakfast, and each was excellent. Abundant coffee refills. Amazing service. Every employee had a smile on their face and a nice thing to say. Owner came by and checked on us before we left. Wish it was closer, but I will always go back when we are in the area. Great, great spot. read more

No big deal. We sat for 15 min and was never approached by a waitress to have our orders taken. We paid for our drinks and left. 3 drinks and a water for $6.92. My family and I went to this restaurant and had a terrible experience. First when we walked in we asked for a 7 person table. The most people they could seat at a table was 4. It took them quite a long time to adjust to tables to our convenience and even then, they only had a 6 person table ready for us. 5 of us sat together and the other 2 sat by themselves. After this our waitress came over and took our drink order but when she brought our drinks, there was lipstick on one of the cups. We let her know and she brought us a new one and we then decided what we wanted. We began ordering and were told they were out of bacon. After then deciding against bacon and on something else we were told they were out of strawberries which is what 2 of us wanted on our pancakes. We then decided on blueberries as a topping to which our waitress said were tart and said we wouldn't want them. The food was ok but the inconveniences made our visit not enjoyable. read more

While the namesake flapjacks with eggs over medium were good, service was fine, I had to minus three stars for the dirty floors and bathroom filth in floor, which led me to look long behind the counter after leaving restroom, which was also quite dirty. Had super lunch there this week! I enjoyed the Cobb salad. It was fresh and delicious with grilled chicken. My husband liked the chicken salad sandwich with fried sweet potatoes. The fried sweet potatoes were the best we ever had. My husband was impressed with both the flavor and texture(soft). He is retired from a career in food business, so he had to compliment the chef. Hubby and I's first try of this place while on our annual vacation to Venice. It was a compfy/cozy family friendly establishment. Friendly faces greet you as you walk in. Great menu with lots of option. We visited on a Sunday before leaving to go home so on Sunday's they serve breakfast only. Lots of wonderful options to choose from. I've lived in Venice for almost 7 years and have been to plenty of restaurants. Breakfast is probably my favorite meal of the day, so to find a restaurant that's quality, i'm very picky about when it comes to restaurants, you rarely have a place that you can go to that has the perfect combination of wonderful service, excellent food and a great owner. Flap Jack's is that place, and THE place to go to for Breakfast and Lunch. The only issue I have is that they're not open for dinner. I know they would do a phenomenal dinner business as well, breakfast and lunch items have already proved that! I had the Elvis Sandwich today, which is Peanut Butter, Fried Bananas and Bacon on Rye bread. This is a testament to the creativity of the owner, Jeff. Before Jeff took over, the menu was quite limited. However, after Jeff took over, the menu has greatly expanded. Usually knowing what I want when I go to a restaurant, I'm taking a while longer at Flap Jack's. The reason, you ask? Everything sounds delicious and is on the menu! It's hard for me to pick two menu items (I go to the gym and therefore, require my proteins after a good workout), but I certainly am able to find out good menu items. The question isn't which one, but, what out of everything, do I want? Jeff also offers seasonal menu items, like The Jersey, which is a Taylor Ham, Egg and Cheese on the menu. Being a Jersey guy myself, I was happy to finally find one on the menu. Not only did I find one, but that it's that delicious, it would make New Jersey proud! Flap Jack's has a weekly menu and daily specials which will leave you quite fulfilled, the portion sizes are more than adequate and the prices for your value are exceptionally well done! Jeff has great waitresses at his restaurant, waitresses who will remember their patrons, know what they would like and their orders. That kind of remembrance is rare to find, but Jeff has ensured that his wait staff is top notch and they definitely are. You feel not just like you're coming to eat at their establishment, you feel like you've been invited into the home of a good friend. The waitresses remember who you are, and greet you with the warmest of smiles every time. They also don't rush the check out to you, like some restaurants may (Peaches in Venice). Flap Jack's allows you to enjoy your meal to the fullest, you never feel rushed and you can sit, relax and have a wonderful meal. The food? Where to begin? The Pancakes are the best in Venice, but you would be selling yourself short if you just went for the Pancakes alone. You should be adventurous and try other menu items as well. The Breakfast and Lunch menu is quite expansive. It's a welcomed change from what it was, to what it is now. Now, is the restaurant that Venice has wanted from Flap Jack's all along. We finally have that. We finally have the most reputable restaurant in our community, Jeff accomplished that for us. Did I mention how delicious the Pancakes are?? What else does that leave? We've covered the excellent prices, we've covered the wonderful food and amazing wait-staff and owner, the restaurant is very clean and tidy. You feel that you're in the right place when at Flap Jack's. If you know me, you may recognize me as the guy who orders two plates of food when I go out to eat and have probably seen me around before. I write the review to extol the wonderful atmosphere and environment for our Venice residents and our Seasonal residents. I will be the first to admit that before Jeff came as the owner, I wasn't too thrilled with Flap Jack's. The menu was small, the food was mediocre at best and the care wasn't there. However, knowing that a lot of our residents are seasonal, I write to our Seasonal people as well. The Flap Jack's you knew a year ago is no more. What we have now is a restaurant that is leaps and bounds above what it was a year ago! No longer should you be bound to the stigma of what Flap Jack's used to be. You should go back now that Jeff is in charge. The old adage of: one person can make a difference is definitely in play here, the new owner has made the necessity of changes to ensure the long term success of Flap Jack's. The food quality, menu, wait-staff has all drastically improved under Jeff's leadership! If you want a restaurant that provides an exceptional time, with food that is the best Venice has to offer, very polite wait-staff and an owner who is actually out there to greet his patrons, make sure you make your ONE and ONLY stop to Flap Jack's. Take it from a guy who has lived here for almost 7 years, who has searched out countless restaurants, and finally found the restaurant that he can call his favorite. Ate breakfast there last Saturday. Just had a large order of pancakes since it was national pancake day. They were huge and cooked to perfection. We we told that that breakfast ends at 11:30 and that they had already put away all of the breakfast food because they were expecting a large lunch crowd that day. We were very disappointed. A restaurant with the name Flapjacks Cafe should have breakfast all day, so the name is very deceiving. We were in a rush so we ordered blt sandwiches, they took 15 minutes for 2 sandwiches and when they came out they were average and identical, they counted out the exact amount of french fries that each plate gets. It wasn't worth the money. The service was friendly and that is the only reason they get 2 stars, rather than 1 star from us. They never got the "large" lunch crowd they said they were were expecting. I will never return to this restaurant. read more

After reading reviews we were looking forward to eating here. The restaurant was full at lunch time and meals were coming out at a snails pace. We waited 50 minutes for our food. The grilled roast beef was greasy, the French fries tasted like they'd been cooked in days old oil, and the salad was ordinary. Very disappointing. read more
