Came here for breakfast with my family and the food was really good! The severs were friendly and attentive. I really appreciate that the plate portions were not overly huge like a lot of places now a days. I was able to finish my entire plate and was full and didn't waste anything! They were out of a few things we wanted, but is understandable since it's a small restaurant and we came pretty late in the day for breakfast (about 11:00am.) I got ham instead of bacon (out of bacon) and it was a great choice! Nice thick slice and so tasty! Ordered my eggs over medium and they were perfect. Honestly, the worst corned beef hash I've ever had. I can't believe I paid extra for it. More closely resembled a potato pancake. A greasy, bland, mushy potato pancake. The service was fine and the manager asked how everything was, but I didn't have the heart to have this conversation in front of other patrons. read more

It may look small and unappealing at first but this restaurant is truly great! Very nice waiter and chef - cute place. The food was great - loved the pancakes! Humiliating. Unless you are a regular (which I had hoped to be) don't come in. Waitress likes to know you want your regular. Née customer rushed; asked about avocado special and ordered without salad as I do not like salad dressing. She assumed I did not want the spinach as she did not take time to ask. When food came it was avocado toast with tomato onion egg and salad dressing. I ate one bite removed egg to eat. When she came to ask how food was I advised her I had not wanted salad as it was dressing I did not want. Loudly she announced so everyone could hear that I mind you I should have been more specific. How would I even think there would be dressing. I was not even offered a piece of toast. Tea pot bone dry so I paid $10 for one egg and pot of hot water abd tea bag. My wife ordered a traditional breakfast with pancakes, eggs and bacon plus a side of grits. All were delicious. My meal was the sunrise skillet. I had heard Flapjacks did a full English breakfast so we had to try it out. It was a bit disappointing. No grilled mushrooms, no fried slice. The tomatoes were not grilled. Warm mushy sliced tomatoes are not great. The Monte Cristo was also not what I expected. I received a cold deli sandwich. In fact I'm still wondering what connection it had to a Monte Cristo. I guess I just had something else in mind with that name. The service was fine - and attentive. For me the dealbreaker was the atmosphere. We went on a weekend morning and it was a rather somber affair with hardly anyone talking in the very tiny place. We have kids, and were the youngest by a long shot. Great breakfast and wonderful service. I am very happy that it is near my Venice home. As an aside I left my credit card at Flapjacks but could not go back to get it because I had an early morning flight and didn't realize it was missing until after they closed. I called them after my flight and they wrapped my card in paper, put it in an envelope and mailed it to me in NY, at their cost and time going to the post office. Staff is friendly. Food is good. Service is fast bordering on hovering depending on whom is working. Recent ownership change so fresh paint, tables, long time staff missing and decor changes. Mistakes are made, but watch your bill and look the menu over. Been charged for coffee when just had water. Been charged individual prices for standard combo plates, $13 for 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, 2 sausage patties. We have eaten here multiple times over the last few years. This café has changed hands a few times previously, and we decided to stop in for a late breakfast on Saturday. (In August, the current owners will have Flapjacks Café for 1 year.) The menu has a nice selection with several specials for both breakfast and lunch. We ordered traditional breakfast of eggs over easy, home fries, tomato slices, toast and coffee all of which was good. The staff was friendly and service prompt. Cafe is small with limited seating but clean and neat. Adequate parking; no view as café is located in a strip plaza. We plan on returning as breakfast was enjoyable. read more

Love this place for breakfast or brunch. Great service, great food. I'd also love to leave it at that, but yelp only allows long reviews, which kinda seems to be their MO. Anyone reviewing on yelp, should always give a biz 5 stars and then work out any issue they have in the comments bc anything less than a 5 star hurts the biz that owner work so hard to make possible. Yelp is a bully company that forces small biz to have a listing and you can't delete it, so you don't have a choice but to be on their app. read more

Went in, sat, got two coffees. While looking at menus the cook in black attire comes out of the kitchen and goes into the bathroom. Pretty soon strange noises start emanating from the mens room. Was he passing a stone? Giving birth? Doing a plumbing renovation? The waitress tried to cover up his exertions and blame the place next door (which was closed). She turned up the music. The cook came out, wasn't wiping his hands as if he'd washed then picked at his nose and went back into the kitchen, with a pained smile. Total slob. No way we were going to enjoy that breakfast! Sat outside. Small family owned coffee shop serving breakfast n lunch. Waited 15 mins for coffee thrn another 15 mins to order breakfast. Breakfast was very good but it also took a long while and I got white toast when I asked for WWT if sub English was more than $1. It was .50. Coffee and food itself was good..actually coffee was excellent and homefries were tasty and seasoned which in my Fl expirience is a rarity. We were dissaponted in service and time issues but would try again too see if it was a fluke or the norm. Prices are good. Location is convienient. read more
