When I got my order I asked "is the side of bacon in there?" The guy/kid checked and said yes. Went home to have my breakfast before work and when I got home and opened it, I didn't get what I asked for. I was one of the first people to discover this place in my friend group when it initially opened. It was amazing we were so frequent we had our favorite server frank he knew us. Then something happened the last time I went wait staff was different food prices drastically increased and food was lack lister not like it used to be. We have been regular customers at the Davie and Hallandale restaurants for ten years. I have nearly always come after 2:00 pm with my wife and had fair food, but something has happened. The restaurant tried to cheat us on the bill, the service was unbearably slow, and the manager was rude. They have raised the prices on only mediocre food as well. Vegetarians beware . Ordered a omelette with spinach, onion, and feta. The server brought me that -- but added chunks of HAM. If I hadn't noticed before taking a bite, I'd be sick right now. I showed the server. She seemed angry (at me) about the error. She NEVER even apologized. She quickly brought me a new omelette, but it was much smaller, and the feta was just cold chunks dumped on top. As best I can recall, I have never asked to speak to a manager, but today I did. Our server replied, "He's the one who made your new omelette." The manager never came out. Of course mistakes can happen, but the server or manager should have at least apologized. And I would've rather waited a few more minutes for a good omelette rather than the skimpy thing they threw together. The restaurant is cute and clean, but overpriced. You can get better breakfast food at lower prices at many other local diners (for example, Tower Deli or the Plantation Diner). Good grief! I had the most atrocious service (which says a lot when talking about South Florida) I've had in a very long time, I think Shrek the ogre would have been more pleasant. The french toast was good but not fluffy and hashbrowns were not crispy or anything to rave about; certainly not worth $12 total. I want to start off by saying how empathic I am for the restaurant business,the hard work and stress involved in being a waitress. I was one in the past so I know. With that said, I don't take it too personal when I see a miserable waitress, in which is exactly who I had, her name being Kim. And I started off not taking it personal at all. But even my boyfriend who is the most laid back, hard-to-annoy person I know made a comment on her terrible attitude. I said "ehh its late, she is probably just over it, don't take it personal".... She purposely ignored my boyfriend when he politely tried to get her attention in regards to his drink order....whatever. She "threw" the straws on the table...whatever. But I took it personal once she did not check up on us ONCE! And what infuriated me more was observing her demeanor towards her other tables, she was smiling, somewhat engaging, checking up on them periodically. Again, it was not busy at all. Age profiling is a thing, and we get it a lot because we look so much younger then our age. That typical judgment that we might not tip well or tip at all, or that because they are 24/7 diner they get a lot of intoxicated young patrons. The fear of us maybe not tipping well came true for miss Kim because a messily dollar is all she received. Visited here on a Saturday night with some close friends and our children. We were a big party of 9 and the lovely staff accommodated us with seating all together so that we could talk. Danielle was a great server and attentive to our needs especially the children that were there. She gave great recommendations of the menu and kept a smile on her face the whole time she came to our table. This place is so good. This morning my boyfriend took me here on his way to work we will have some things to do today. We stopped here for breakfast. I had an omelette with cheese and spinach and onions and green peppers I had decided tomatoes and some toast and coffee and juice and it was so good. The vibe at this place at least at this time of the morning was great. We got there around 8:30 in the morning. It was so chill and calm and restful. They have inside seating outside seating. It's Thanksgiving Day and I was pretty thankful that some restaurants decided to stay open.. however, I was not very fond of this place although we were greeted nicely, sat quickly and got our drink orders in quickly... we didn't receive our drinks for the longest time though... As soon as we go our drinks, it took us forever to get an order in... he came over and apologized saying "I'm sorry I just have regulars over there that are very needy..." as that was a good excuse. When it came time to take our order, he didn't even read it back. Knowing that, we knew mistakes were going to come of it just because how things were going so far... which I was right. As soon as the food came out... two of the three orders came out while the last order came out lagging a few minutes too long behind. I never even got my toast for my country fried steak and eggs. The Mac n cheese was never rung up when it was ordered and everything was lacking flavor. Steak was cold... just overall a horrible experience. The Flashback menu is loaded with diner-favorite comfort foods: burgers, salads, sandwiches, Greek specialties, dinner plates, breakfast specials and extravagant desserts, including a giant blackout-style chocolate cake (with a ginormous scoop of ice cream that can choke one of the horses that ride by the restaurant!!) and a tempting array of pies, pastries, puddings, ice cream and more. We had the Spinakopita (spinach pie); even if I spelled it wrong, it tasted so right. Great blend of flavor on a perfectly flaky crust. I love Flashback Diner. When I lived in Aventura I used to frequent the one in Hallandale, I was sad and depressed thinking that it would be weeks or months between joyous visits to FD. Alas, the hubs told me that there was another location close to where we were moving, and not to despair- but you never know one location is not an indication of the quality of another -even if it is the same owner so I was worried and anxious about our first meal at the 'new' location. Would there be flat screen televisions on the tables? Would they have EXTRA large delicious deserts? Would the food be fantastic? Would the servers be friendly??? The anticipation, the stress! Parking: When we walked in, there was one major difference between the two locations, and that is the availability of parking!! You might not be able to park directly in the front, but there is parking in the back of the restaurant. Pets: Another major difference is the outdoor seating. Whether you agree with bringing Fido to lunch or not, he is welcome to join you and your family in the outdoor area. It is completely covered, and equipped with both fans, and space heaters to accommodate all weather conditions, and is nice to sit there during a nice day outside- The one downside for new mommies is that there is smoking allowed in this outdoor section- Food: I ordered my usual french toast with a side of eggs and a bagel (The Flashback Special)- and it was amazing!! Completely on par with the other location and I was elated. The hubs had an egg-white omelette with oatmeal and a bagel. If you love oatmeal or grits, be sure to get there before 12 as they run out, and do not make any more for the remainder of the day. You can still order breakfast, but those items are gone! Since that first experience we have been back many many many times, and all times have been pretty great! One time we had an issue with the food coming out slow- but I'm sure that happens everywhere from time to time, and it did not ruin my fabulous brunch. This is my local favorite diner to visit on weekend mornings as the service is usually fast, we genuinely like the service, and the food is better then your typical IHop. As many people will tell you, many people come to sit in Mark's section as he is probably the best waiter here. He keeps you entertained and laughing throughout your sitting. Mark's section isn't always available because he will have people waiting to sit just with him. Besides him, the other waiters are a hit or a miss. I have had bad experiences here and good. If on the weekend mornings it is packed, sit at the bar as it is seat yourself and you will get to eat much faster then waiting for a table as well as listen into all the drama going on with different tables lol! The food is slightly better than ihop and Dennys combined. The belgian waffle with strawberries is delicious. Eggs/bacon/sausage/toast is another morning usual. Home fries are great and not overly seasoned. Hamburgers are good. Desserts, as you will see when you walk, are huge but I have never tried them. They must be good at that size. When you are finished with your meal, take your check to the register to pay- the waiter only drops off your check. I don't think they tell a lot of people this and people wait around to pay. There is a lot of parking as well. Only thing that's slightly annoying is the entrance. There is only one, in and out, and this rode is kind of busy. I have seen many accidents on this one street because everyone trying to merge on one side and entering/leaving the little shops around. FYI- If you are a coffee lover like me, they do not bring flavored creamers to the table. (trying to keep the good stuff!) To me this is an added bonus to the experience even if I am not watching anything at all, knowing that I could makes me happy. The coffee is very good. In general this is not a truism for all breakfast places which I think is ridiculous. Good coffee is a monumental part of the entire dining experience, and Flashback is spot on! The egg white omelets are light and fluffy- they are made-to-order and you can add or subtract things at will. Veggies? Cheese? Meats? YES! My wife usually orders chocolate chip pancakes or french toast. Both selections are extremely delicious. I prefer the choco chips, but since I am not ordering it, I never know what I'm getting. I think I ordered the wrong thing, but I wasn't prepared when I came. Plan A was closed inexplicably and I was off my game. So I drove to Plan B, Flashback Diner. I have to say this was my first visit, and what did I do? I did something I never do, which is order Italian pasta from a diner. It was probably because I was overwhelmed at the menu. The menu was vast, and I had no idea what I wanted. So, the server came by to get my order, but when she read the specials, I opened my mouth before I realized it was a bad idea. I should have kept looking. I was not too worried after she brought the pasta out to the table. It actually looked good. I even commented on it. However, after I took my first bite, my initial fear was realized. It was awful. The garlic toast was okay. My server didn't come back to check on me, and I am not sure I would have said anything if she had. I didn't want to send it back, as I didn't have a lot of time. I may try them again if the circumstances present themselves. They were nice there, and they have WiFi.
