I decided to check this place out again and brought a friend who had just moved to the Davie area. The one thing I will say about this place is that the parking lot always seems to be crowded regardless of how crowded it is inside. We came around 11:45-12 on a Monday and the place was moderately full. The menu is pretty expansive and they have added more options since the last I was here (they now have hashes which I was very tempted to try). Food prices are pretty average for a diner style restaurant and I chose to get the Floridian Omelet with homefries. Their homefries were decently portioned and seasoned well. I have only ever had food from their breakfast menu here, but all the food I've had has been pretty decent. Service was decent, and our waitress was attentive and friendly. This place is good to check out if you're in the area and is on an interesting strip of Davie Rd, but can get very crowded during peak times and parking can be a hassle. read more

She was very friendly and was able to make some great suggestions for the menu. Sorry your loosing a star. It seems like it's two different restaurants. If you go there during the day the service is wonderful. If you go there in evening the service is losey.. I find the service in this restaurant to be very inconsistent from the day shift to the night shift. We were here Tuesday night around 9pm, the place was relatively empty. They sat us immediately. We sat there for about 15 minutes , no server! Our server walked past us about ten times totally ignoring us. My wife final had enough and said some thing to the manager. Apparently he as new and did know we were his table. (the manager on duty should have been paying more attention to whats going on in his restaurant). It turned our server was not that bad. Always wanted to try this place and it wasn't that great of an experience. My brothers and I ordered the country fried steak and eggs, the original classic burger which comes with fries and lastly the diners speciality which comes with eggs, choice of meat and and French toast. First off, the service was very off. The guy that took our order said he'd come back with our waters but we saw him chit chatting with some "regulars" whom came like 10 minutes after us. Secondly, he came over and apologized and told us we were going to get a different server. In which she didn't come until a little after so he ended up taking our orders. I just want to say even though it was thanksgiving, it wasn't that busy that we could've gotten our waters first. Also, when the food came out, our waiter obviously forgot some of the stuff but by the time they came back we already finished our food. They forget the bread (even though the server asked us what bread we wanted).... and I substituted for a baked potato and my brother substituted for Mac and cheese and they obviously put that as a side dish instead on the meals substitution, so we basically got over charged.. FOOD- I would've given this place a 1 STAR but the food was fairly decent. The French toast was good and everything else was lacking flavor. I was impressed on how large the carrot cake was. Decided to come for breakfast while in town for a wedding--it was great! I got the cannoli pancakes (amazing, but filling), my husband got the power omelet. But the service was what we loved. We had Anna, and when we asked about gluten free options to take back for my mother in law she gave us great suggestions to make sure she would enjoy her food without issues. Being from NYC, I love a good diner (or coffee shops as we usually call them) & Flashback fits the bill. I also appreciate that it is open 24 hours and on all holidays, even though I frequent for breakfast or lunch. The breakfast is standard diner fare but I prefer lunch or even dinner on occasion. Soups are homemade and tasty. They always have chicken noodle & matzoh ball & different ones each day. Today was split pea, my fave-thick, tasty, & delicious. Along with that I had a Caesar with salmon. The salmon was surprisingly well prepared-medium rare, just the way I like it. The portion was so big I had to take half home. Husband had a burger - always a good choice there. In the past I have had tuna salad. Usually a little dry so I would ask for a side of mayo unless you like dry tuna salad. We were seated right away to be greeted by the most fabulous waiter, Mark. He definitely made this experience once to remember. He is funny, attentive and just charming. Make sure to ask for his special 24k Gold butter. I ordered the Dipping Bacon Pancakes, that's right Bacon Pancakes!. There were about 5 pancakes with powdered sugar and a little plate filled with syrup. I wish the syrup would have been hot. I like the diner concept of this establishment. It reminds me of IHOP and Denny's. This location is large and clean with an outdoor patio. They have a big parking lot and it's usually always busy when I go. The menu is huge! They have tons of entrees, desserts, and drinks. When I have family and friends in town, I like to take them here at least once because it's affordable and has a wide array of options, especially for the picky people. My usual dinner options are: Country fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and mac and cheese. The chicken batter is so delicious and crisp. I like to dip the pieces of chicken into the mashed potato and gravy. The mac and cheese is good but not the best I've had. Chili and cheese on top of mac and cheese. Yes it sounds weird but it's amazing! The cheese and tomato sauce balances each other out perfectly. This dish also comes with fries also. Dessert: this item is not on the menu but you could order it. It's a chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and chocolate syrup. Yum! Drink: surprisingly, their house margarita is not bad. Most places make it too tart, I just had one the other day from here and it was perfect! I ordered the shrimp and grits was not satisfied, asked to speak to the manager however he was 'not' available. Was not trying to get out of paying but wanted to let the manager know the quality was not up to the usual level of quality. Here's the review of the shrimp and grits. The grits were lumpy with no flavor, the sauce was just oily not creamy and made oilier because cheese was added to the grits, the shrimp, however, were well seasoned and the garlic bread was excellent. TLDR: Good for a late night bite - possibly after some adult beverages. ___ Came in here at around midnight, hungry for some breakfast food. They have huge servings - but they could use a little better seasoning. Most of the things lacked flavor. I got bacon and hashbrowns. Bacon was cooked well and the hasbrowns were large - but lacked flavor. I drenched it in ketchup to make it salvageable. Pumpkin Pie - this was good. I love pumpkin pie and it was a generous slice. I also got the pancake bacon. Meh. What a gimmick. It's a piece of pancake sloppily blanketed by a pancake. Nothing like the photo. I love Flashback... They have a great kid's menu and I love that they give the kids sticker sheets to keep them occupied while they wait for the food...I love that if it's not on the menu, they will make it for you...my go to breakfast is an egg white veggie omelet with feta...YUM. One of the things I like is that we can bring the whole family (which means we can bring our dog and eat on the outside patio). They even have pet menu...we have gone there with our German Shephard and our friends' great dane & boxer (by the way they were better behaved than another table's little dog). My daughter is a bacon fanatic...and it is always perfectly cooked for her...crisp but not burned. We love the smiley face cookies & we have never had bad service (we love Mark and his sense of humor). So if I love it, why only 4 stars? The food at Flashback is worthy of 3 stars, but frankly, everything is just too expensive for what it is. When your lunch bill exceeds $20 for a grilled chicken sandwich and an iced tea, you think twice about returning. That said, I really like the Ollieburger (a hamburger covered with a blend of spices and mozzarella cheese - a "flashback" to the menu of the old Lums diner previously at this location). My second favorite, the Elton John, is no longer on the menu, but I can still order a grilled chicken sandwich with cheese and bacon (and sometimes avocado) through other menu choices. Flashback earns extra points for their side choices for their meals. I like that you can get a small salad, mixed fruit salad, macaroni salad or other choices instead of French fries. Flashback has a great breakfast menu served all day too. Their eggs, pancakes, omelets and French toast are all good, but again, it's all overpriced for a diner breakfast. Be sure to out the dessert cases when you enter. Their cakes are impressive. On a nice day, the outside patio is a very pleasant place to enjoy your meal. read more

Today I thought I'd get some lunch from Flashback. Called and ordered the meatloaf dinner with French fries and spinach. I asked for extra gravy for my fries (it's a Jersey thing). I arrive a few minutes before it was ready and told a very young girl working the register that I'd wait outside. No idea when my food showed up. I decide to check on my order. Oh yeah, it's ready. I wonder how long it sat there! I look in the bag and I'm shocked. First I had to remind her about the extra gravy and the brioche bread wasn't in the bag either. She comes back with a very small portion of gravy and the brioche bread? No more. I got a semi warm baguette. My spinach was smothered with partially cooked garlic. For some reason, their food is just never quite HOT enough, even when you dine in. Not sure why. I pay my almost $20 bill for my food and come home. I open up the container and NO GRAVY AT ALL on the meatloaf. The "extra" gravy I had was hardly enough. And all this food for almost $20? Before I decided to write this review, I looked up their menu to make sure it had the brioche bread and that's when I see the price of my food was $15. $5 in taxes? I don't think so. $5 for that "extra" gravy? I would hope not. I definitely am disappointed and will never go back. Such a shame, I literally can walk there. Two years ago I wrote a very nice review.
