Stopped by Flat River Grill for a Friday night dinner and drinks. We were sat immediately and had drinks swiftly after. Dinner was good per usual, but the service was amazing. Special shout out to Avery for making our date night perfect. Thankful to have Flat River Grill in our neighborhood as it always hits the spot.

Brisket was very good. Nice portion and great flavor

Good food and great service. Brisket was tasty and good portions. Meat loaf was good as well. Happy hour is 3-6.

One of the BEST restaurants in Michigan, hands down. As a Chicagoan visiting Grand Rapids for the very first time alongside my family, I am delighted to have been able to try the Flat River Grill in Lowell. While it is a bit of a drive away from Grand Rapids itself, it could not have been more well worth the trek. Where do I even begin? The food was excellent and the service even more so-not to mention we went on a 90-degree, muggy summer day. You'd think that given the weather conditions, the staff would be worn out and not performing at their best-however-you could not be more wrong! Every staff member was seen working hard with pure intention, despite the added pressure from the blazing heat. That takes dedication, commitment, and more importantly, love. Love and passion for the work that fills stomachs and puts smiles on so many faces. One staff member in particular that I'd like to mention is Jacob, our server. He gets a special shout out as he was absolutely on his A-game. He frequently checked in on us and made sure our experience was as best as it could be, and he did it happily. Jacob has everything you could want in a server, and if I am fortunate enough to come back to the restaurant, I will make sure to request him. Those who live close to the Flat River Grill should thank their lucky stars for having such a fantastic restaurant at their fingertips. The pricing was fair, the food was superb, the environment was stunning (especially the scenic outdoor seating), and of course the staff was excellent in every way. I have little to no downsides to even mention about this restaurant. Overall, as far as a number rating goes, I give the Flat River Grill a 9.5/10, me and my family all had a great time and I pray we will be back here very soon. For a more in depth look at my reviews of the individual menu items I tried personally, they are featured below: Cooked Brussels Sprouts (Appetizer): 7.8/10. Cooked to absolute perfection, the crisp factor was most definitely there. The flavor was great too although a minor gripe would be that they were slightly too salty tasting. If you love Brussels sprouts, definitely order these. Sweet Potato Fries (Side): 7.9/10. A very flavorful and crowd pleasing side dish. The only thing I'd change for the future would be to request for the fries to be cooked slightly longer. While they were cooked well and felt quite warm, I tend to favor more crispy fries personally. Overall though, I imagine if I were to try the other sides, the sweet potato fries would be in my top two alongside the French fries, as I do happen to be a fry lover. Honey Peppercorn Beef Brisket (Entrée): 9.2/10. This entrée is extremely well crafted, it completely earns its spot as a Flat River Grill staple on the menu. The brisket itself was perfectly cooked and it totally melts in your mouth. The potatoes were crispy and flavorful, while nice and fluffy on the inside. Not to mention, the sauce (or glaze if you will) completely ties the entire meal together. Overall, an absolutely fantastic menu item that everyone must try. Key Lime Pie (Dessert): 8.9/10. This key lime pie is to die for. It was smooth, sweet, and it went down so easily. I imagine it was so delicious because the majority of the desserts at the Flat River Grill are made fresh in house-which was told to me by our very pleasant and wonderful server, Jacob. Everyone in my family ordered a different dessert and we were all very satisfied with our experience. Once again, I cannot express just how fantastic of a time I had dining here. I highly recommend the Flat River Grill to anyone who loves great food, great people, and great vibes all around!

This restaurant had an impressive menu with lots of good options. I ordered the maple bourbon glazed salmon and it was not as good as I was expecting, it a little dry so I wish that there was some extra sauce on it. It came with sweet potatoes, chard, wild rice and walnuts. I also ordered the blueberry flatbread and that was amazing, goat cheese, blackberries, blueberries and honey. I was able to find street parking fairly easy outside of this restaurant. The service was pretty slow on a Saturday night but I think they were just really busy.

My sister and I hit up this place for our sister date and I am glad we did! We both had the spinach and artichoke dip which was very good but nothing off from what you'd normally get with this. The salmon dish was flavorful but not cooked to my preferred temperature. I was told it was sushi grade so I wanted a medium rare cook on it. It was most definitely medium well and verging closer to well. The mango salsa always the most exciting part of the dish and the rice was seriously just plain white rice. Want to find a way to really full out the flavor of a dish? Serve plain white rice! I would have loved to see some of the flavors pulled through in the rice. Maybe a pineapple fried rice? My sister ordered the mushroom pizza with gluten free crust for my sake. It was PHENOMENAL!! Full of flavor and I can't wait to eat my left overs!! Food quality receives 3/5 stars. The service was EXCELLENT!! 5 stars!! Cleanliness 5 stars! Food freshness 5 stars!! Ambiance 5 stars!! No explanation needed for the rest because seriously it's just that in point!! So, with this the average is rounded up to 5 stars! I'd love to see some changes with that salmon though.

I was surprised at how long it took for the 2 hosts to greet us - as we were standing directly in front of them. They were talking to one another, and it was probably work related, but to just stand there staring at them for a couple minutes while they ignored us was awkward. When they finally talked to us they weren't very friendly. Anyway, we made our way to the bar and it was full except for 3 seats. I think the bartender waiting on us was new. He seemed like he was pretty overwhelmed/in the weeds. He greeted us quickly and brought us waters when he did, which I appreciated. I ordered a Blackeberry Bourbon Sour and my Mr had Paloma Nuestra. We both enjoyed our drinks they were refreshing and well crafted. For dinner I had a really hard time deciding! I wanted to try so many things! Our bartender said his favorite thing in the menu is the chicken and rice bowl. That was something I was considering and decided to go with that. Excellent recommendation! The chicken was flavorful and so tender. The hot peppers were a nice touch. There was a lot of food too! I couldn't finish it all. Mr had the hanger steak that was served with mushroom and asparagus risotto. He said the risotto was the best he's ever had, and I agree. The asparagus was perfectly cooked and so was the steak. The space is really nice, felt intimate without being overcrowded. We are looking forward to coming back!

What a disappointment, but not nearly as much as our experience at 123 Tavern. We came in at 4:15PM before the Brandi Carlile show needing a table for a party of 8-10. The place was fully booked (but only half full at that time) except the bar (first-come, first-served). Fair enough -- but from the moment we walked up, the manager at the host stand couldn't have cared less. She quoted a two-hour wait, shut down my question about sitting outside with a flat no, and pointed us toward the bar. No sense of customer service at all. Like zero. The three of us who were there took the last open seats at the bar. Then came the real show: one bartender for the entire restaurant AND bar. He ignored us for ten minutes. My wife and friend got their beers quickly -- but my bourbon sat finished at the service station for another seven minutes while I watched the large ice cube melting as it marinated there. When I finally asked where my drink was, I got "I'm working on it." When he did finally bring it, he pushed it across the bar at me -- no apology, no eye contact, his attention on anything but me. I'll be honest about what I can't prove: I've worked in this industry a long time, and the whole thing read like my service got intentionally slow-walked. My drink held back while everyone around me was taken care of. Maybe the front manager said something after our rocky start at the host stand. Maybe they're just all bad at their jobs. I can't tell you which. I can only tell you how obvious it felt from the barstool. Everything after was the same; menus, ordering, closing out, all a slog. I had to hunt down that same manager for our check so we could get to the show, and she was all attitude, zero help. We only escaped because my wife flagged a server who found a another manager. His response to hearing all this? "I'm sorry." Nothing else. No attempt to make it right. For the first time in my life, I left $0 on a $100 tab. I'm a 25%+ tipper. That's how badly this went. Here's the thing, 123 Tavern: if you're going to bill yourself as a place to gather before events, staff the place and train your managers to act like they want customers there. Until then, I'll spend my money somewhere that values it.

Burrito is packed full of hash browns, crispy bacon, sausage, egg, and cheese. The only downside to the Kevin Malone is that they use spinach instead of like a chopped lettuce for the burrito and the texture is a little overpowering. Plus, they don't chop the stems off the spinach, so I'd either order it without or pick some pieces out. I feel like the Brunchwrap has a thicker layer of it and as much as mixing in a green is smart, it has to be prepped properly in my opinion. Patatas bravas as a side were fire. The potatoes were roasted and seasoned well. It advertised a garlic aioli, but we did not get that. As with San Chez's patatas bravas, ask for the sauce on the side. It is a very good side of potatoes compared to the thinly, oddly sliced potato slices that came with the breakfast sandwich. They looked like apple slices and were sort of wet and soggy like them too. Nitpicking their spinach prep and refining their side dish of potatoes are really the only notes if someone from Mudpenny is actually reading this and got this far. Great breakfast spot and service was spot on.

They were good, but cold. I'm sorry, but no one's deviled egg recipe compares to Low Country Carolina Restaurant in my opinion. Plus at $5 for their happy hour special as opposed to $12 at this establishment... it kinda felt pricey and lacking. Originally, we ordered the brisket sandwich to split. There was another big table of people the waitress was also serving. Turns out 20 minutes or so later she went to put in our order and they were out of brisket! She was apologetic and offered to buy us dinner. We split the chicken sandwich instead and got some onion rings with it. The chicken sandwich was really good; juicy, crispy, no complaints.
