Let's start with the good: Nice view and atmosphere. Nice people working there. Good service. Huge portions. Now the not so good: The salmon salad was awful. The salmon was so overcooked it was hard. I was surprised the cooks would serve it, it was so hard. The dressing had no flavor. It was a bed of lettuce for $21. Hard pass. And the bathroom was filthy. This is where the employees wash their hands. So if they don't care about the bathroom, what does the kitchen look like? So I probably won't go there again for food but maybe for a beer at the bar. My family loved their burgers so maybe it was just my salad. Another Growler added to my collection, another stamp in our "Beer Passport Book" during our continuing tour of all the breweries in Montana. View is unbelievable from their lower deck with fire pits if needed to stay warm. We were in a hurry on our way to glacier so only stopped in for a beer and growler to go. The flight we had was amazing. Great variety of beers on tap. Didn't eat anything however, the food we saw look on par with top brewery restaurants we have visited in the past. Beer flights give you the ability to try many beers at once. Choose 5 to sample, and the pours are good size. Then order a pint of your favorite. Looks like growler fills are $10 which is a pretty decent price. We had the Bigfork Bay nachos, which had andouille sausage, shrimp and an awesome Cajun cheese sauce. We really enjoyed it and it tasted great with beer. The view is amazing, especially when they open up the doors. It's usually pretty busy, but the staff is well equipped and accomodating. read more

Went to lunch here with my sister and nephew. The jalapeño popper burger was really good. It came with the beer battered onion rings and they were great! My nephew had the cheeseburger sliders. That kid barely eats real food and he went to town on those! So good job! Another great thing is the beer mustard, outstanding! If you like cider and do not like hops do not get the cider on the menu. They need to offer just a regular cider. That is literally the only bad thing I would say. As I approached the new Flathead Lake Brewery I admit I really didn't know what the interior of a LEED certified craft brewery might look like.  Short of constructing this place out of dirt, this facility is about as green as you can get so there was a very good chance that I was going to walk into a place unappealing, understated, and underwhelming with walls made out of unpainted OSB.  Judging from the exterior of Flathead Lake Brewing's shiny new mothership facility in Bigfork, I had a pretty good idea that I was about to walk into something special.  Before I go any further, I think it's worth pointing out exactly what it means to be LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified, because it's really a commendable step that FLB has taken, not to mention very expensive and time consuming.   Developed by the U.S. Green Building Counsel, LEED is an ecology oriented building certification program that concentrates its efforts on improving 5 areas of environmental and human health: energy efficiency, indoor environmental quality, material selection, sustainable site development, and water savings.  What does this translate to, where you're concerned?   Well, let me tell you.  For starters, when you park in the parking lot (when the parking lot is finished) you will be parking on a lot designed to funnel away and collect the majority of that nasty, oily, runoff water and clean it before it makes its way into the aquifer and down the embankment into that jewel of a body of water, Flathead Lake, which sits directly below.  As you pass through the entryway, you will be passing under wood that was reclaimed from an historic bridge that once spanned the Swan River.  Speaking of wood, all the wood used to construct this building was sourced locally and what wasn't cut was pulled out of Montana rivers.  The brick you see on the exterior and interior were all salvaged from a building being demolished in Spokane.  The bar stools you will be sitting on are made from repurposed old wine barrel slats and tops made by Whitefish's Vinoture, the fan blades on the deck fans are made from old sail canvas, and even the menus are from recycled paper.  Solar panels on top of the building heat water for the brewery, and a high tech geothermal system uses recycled steam to heat the wort vs. using a gas flame.  A water furnace heat pump is also used for boiling as well as heating and cool the brewery.  As you can see, the focus on the design of this building is to conserve, repurpose, recycle, and reuse.  Even the spent grain is shipped out to local farms to feed livestock.  I mention all this because I want you to walk into this place and know that it's not just another pretty face that sells beer to be fussed over; it's an outstanding example of responsibility and stewardship of this rock that we all live on. OK, those were the technical bits and we all already know that they make great beer, but how does it look?  In a word, fantastic!  I'd put this inviting space up against any trendy brewery in craft beer crazy Seattle or Portland and defy you to say that it's lacking. The layout.  As you make that walk from the front door to the hostess' podium, you will have ample time to admire the beautiful wood floor they installed, but when you look back up you may have some confusion as to what's what and which way you should go.  To the right of the hostess you will find a tap room which is a low key, quieter space that my group of 15 had to use as a kind of waiting room while the main bar thinned out enough to accommodate my group.  The tap room is a nice intimate space that you and your brew-buddies can easily discuss the attributes, qualities, mouthfeel, front end, and finish of the craft beer that sits in front of you. The tap room is also where you get your 1st glimpse, through 3 large windows, of where "Montana's Liquid Treasure" is produced.  Looking like missile silos in a nuclear submarine, these 8 60 bbl tanks stand as a testament to how serious Flathead Lake Brewing is at being a major player in the Montana craft beer industry. There's one thing I haven't mentioned yet...the south facing deck. Oh the south facing deck!  With its panoramic views of its namesake, beautiful Flathead Lake, these are going to be the most popular seats in town come summer.  I just wish they had doubled the size of it as it's not going to accommodate all the people that are going to want to be out there when the weather turns warmer. That having been said, I'm just glad the place is finally open as this end of the Flathead Valley is teeming with craft beer aficionados.  This is just one more reason for us to get down on our knees and thank whatever deity we take comfort in for interceding on our behalf causing us to call this area home. read more

We ordered fish and chips and rabbit food pizza. Both were very good. The fish was a large piece of good cod, hand battered and cooked just right. I'm used to big chunks of the vegetables on the pizza, but these were more finely chopped, which I've decided I like better. There were also finely sliced tomatoes on top, which although full slices, were easy to bite into. We had a very nice table with a view of the lake and the service was great. read more

We just came to eat on a Saturday night, and had some of the rudest service I've ever experienced. We showed up at 7:45, and were told the kitchen closed at 9, so we couldn't be seated. There were at least 10 open tables, 4 of which were all right next to each other, obviously open. We were told there was a large party in front of us on the waiting list, which is why they couldn't seat us, but there was nobody in the lobby or outside, which is when we got the feeling they were obviously trying to leave and not seat any more tables. There were three hostesses at the front who were extremely rude, they wouldn't even look at me when I asked about taking one of the many empty tables. We ended up waiting in the lobby to see if we could get in at the bar for a while. Then, when I went back to the hostess and asked if we could instead put in an order to go she said "you could try at the bar, good luck" and laughed. So, we went to the bar and some people ended up leaving then, so we got a spot. While the bartender was very nice, the food was not good. I ordered a sandwich that was very soggy and the bread fell apart as soon as I picked it up. Ill be honest, the fries were good, but the rest wasn't really worth eating. Again, the bartender was nice throughout all of this, but the food and service of the hostesses were terrible. While we were waiting for our food, another customer showed up and waited 10 minutes to even catch the attention of someone to take his order. The servers, hostesses and bus boys started cleaning up the entire restaurant around all of us, even though it was only 8:30 at this point, and the kitchen closed at 9, and the bar at 10. Also, the "large party" never showed up. Will not go back to or recommend this place to anyone. You're better off going to Dairy Queen across the street. read more

We were able to sit inside although if you have the opportunity, sitting outside seems wonderful with the great view of the water. We had beer which I chose some lighter beer. What happened to this place? Super scaled back menu without a lot of variety. I had a burger and fries that were hot and tasty. The waitress shouldn't be in a people service job. We both got a burger with fries, we were craving it after hiking all day, and were super impressed! My friend and I were going to go to another restaurant around the block but the line was way to long and we just wanted to eat. We ended up coming back to Flathead Lake Brewing Co. and I am so glad we did. Big Fork is a fantastic place and the Flathead Lake is enormous and the views are just out of a photograph. The food and service at Flathead Lake Brewing were just phenomenal. Riley was our server and admitted he was new, but what a great server to have, he was honest about what was or wasn't spicy (I can't eat spicy) Told us what his favorites were and through it all my friend and I ordered to start Spinach Artichoke Dip with chips. We decided we were going to split the Grilled Black Forest Ham , Sharp Cheddar Cheese and a thin layer raspberry jelly sandwich with an order of Shrimp Tempura with a unbelievably fantastic Remoulade dipping sauce. Stopped in for lunch and cocktails the other day. Very busy with people lined up outside. I can't believe how well all the employees here handled their work load. We were offered cold beers while we waited for our table. Seated fairly quickly, drinks were always full, food came out quickly, tasted awesome super impressed with the entire staff.
