    caviar and lemon tart (amazing)
    Diane C.

I was super excited to come here that I wanted to get here early for happy hour and then stay for my dinner resy but alas that didn't happen. Still had a 7pm resy but changes occurred less than 24 hours prior and I was able to push my resy back an hour. I emailed the restaurant and thankfully they were so accommodating! I received a response from the manager right away and luckily I was able to still request the table type I was hoping for (thank you Josh!). The semi-circular booths were super cozy and rounded out the entire dinner experience for me. Everything we ordered was exceptional! Some of my favorites were the uni lemon custard tartlet, the pork & pistachio terrine, and the pumpkin veloute soup. The walnut stuffed butternut squash entree was fantastic and a great option for non/meat eaters (vegans, vegetarians, etc). The leftovers of this reheats very well and tastes even better the next day! The steak frites was a slight miss for me in that the hangar steak was too salty. The service and kitchen were so accommodating when we brought this to their attention, that they were able to refire the hangar steak. It came out much better but this is definitely a very rich steak and deep with flavors. The steak might not be for all palates so be aware. All in all, an absolute stellar establishment and experience. I definitely can't wait to go back again for happy hour and desserts.

A new addition to the philly food scene! The inside is awesome with a classy vibe. The bar and seating on the first floor is comfortable and inviting and also seating on a wrap around balcony overlooking the first floor. Service is outstanding, alcant say enough about that. The food is delicious! Had to Google a few words from the menu lol, or you can just ask the server. The scallop appetizer and onion Tarte were delicious. The steak frites was great as was the fresh pasta with crab. Other great dishes in our group (with no complaints) the trout, the eggplant, shrimp and oyster apps. Desserts were delicate and delicious. The French vanilla custard and the fois white chocolate croissant with cherry compote. Definitely worth a try!

Excellent food, excellent service. I still dream about the onion tart. Highly recommend!

What a wonderful addition to the Philadelphia restaurant scene. Went for a birthday celebration and enjoyed being seated at the "hot tub table" which was an alcove into itself which I recommend for those who prefer a bit of a quieter vibe as the music can be adjusted (love this feature!). We absolutely adored the whitefish appetizer-light and fresh, the yellowfin aged tuna and both the hake and the sea trout mains were excellent as was the hanger steak.

Beautifully designed space, dreamy ambiance, excellent service, and most importantly and incredible menu. I've been back several times since the opening in September and am working my way through the menu! Every dish feels inspired and is uniquely creative and absolutely delicious. Current favorites in no particular order are smoked whitefish tartine, pork pistachio terrine, dry aged yellowfin, corn nage with lobster, cabbage a l'orange, and vanilla custard. The ingredients are all in season and sourced locally, which is incredible. The newly launched happy hour at the bar is awesome, too! Truly a gem of an addition to the Philly dining scene.

The Spritz drink from the happy hour menu was a delight (although still expensive at $9). We ordered the oysters, which were delicious and they came with 4 sauces (tomatillo, mignonette, cocktail, carrot habanero). The fries were delicious and we loved the aioli they were served with (bonus that they're $6 on the hh menu). The Birchrun Blue cheese was incredible and came with a generous portion of bread and a tasty horseradish jelly. The chicory salad and Caesar Brussels sprouts were both outstanding veg dishes. We finished our meal with the frozen yogurt. The flavor options weren't my favorite but I believe these are seasonal. To summarize, the prices are a bit steep here but the vibes, service, food and drinks are all fantastic!

Maybe it was because we thought the restaurant's culinary concept was somewhat mundane ("picnic"). Maybe it was the simplicity of the food or ingredients on the menu... BUT BOY WERE WE WRONG! THE FOOD WAS GREAT! Simple dishes, yes...but executed really well! We were surprised, but maybe we shouldn't have been. With the super-friendly service and unique open concept warehouse meets magic garden decor, we will definitely be back...at least for the prime rib special! And yes, it's "deep into Fishtown." So deep, in fact, that it's full on past Fishtown and actually in East Kensington. This swanky, hip place…read moreoffers up elevated tasty food and superb service in an exquisitely decorated, albeit small, cafe. We braved negative degree weather for the roughly 10 minute walk from our hotel. We walked in at a good time. This is the type of place where a reservation for breakfast would be required. We were sat immediately. The dining area is tight. A green velvet bench, marble tables, metal chairs, all packed into a small area. You could very well have your butt brush over the table of the patrons next to you if you have to get up for any reason. It's tight. Our server was around quickly. He was super friendly and kept things conversational, light and sophisticated. My wife ordered an iced latte, I had their hot drip coffee. For a starter, we had to try the cinnamon knot bread. While it wasn't what we were expecting, it was good. Although, we wouldn't order again. The bread is presented as a small loaf, room temperature with a cold cream cheese icing drizzled over top. The bread had a mild cinnamon flavor and was dry. It lacked the sweet, moist dough you expect from a cinnamon bread. My wife ordered the French style omelet. This had gruyere cheese and chives. Beautifully plated, perfectly cooked and the taste was spot on. It was good enough to forget that she paid $21 for just an omelet, no meat, no sides. I ordered the Eggs Benedict. Pretty standard here. The eggs had bright orange yolks which is common for farm fresh eggs. The "coffee" hollandaise didn't come across with a coffee flavor but it was rich and went well with the ham and English muffins. One thing that stuck with me was their drip coffee. Not sure if it has been a while since I had a light roast but the Rival Bros. Revolver coffee was so good, I got a bag of whole beans to bring back home with me. I may even order it again online. Enswell succeeded on all fronts. The ambiance and service was great. The decor, impeccable. The food, thoughtful and tasty. The details from the silverware to the plates added to the experience. We would come back.

Our waitress actually let us sample a few of the wines, since we couldn't decide! This was awesome and so rare these days, but a definite plus for any "wine bar". That being said, the food was really underwhelming. The highlight for me was the tuna crudo, which was so flavorful, creative, and absolutely melted in my mouth. The carrots were also really good. The pastas, however, which the place is known for, lacked flavor. The menu descriptions seemed super unique and innovative, but when the dishes arrived, they were seriously lacking. I really did come here for the pasta, and since the meal wasn't exactly cheap, I don't think I'll be rushing back.

We did the tasting menu for $55 a person which is a really good deal considering it consists of two appetizers, three pastas and two desserts, which basically means you're getting an additional pasta (and maybe app) for the $$ you were going to pay anyways. Service was impeccable and I loved that changed out the plates and silverware for every course, especially because some of the sauces were thick.

Huge bar, giant wall of liquor bottles, dim lighting, and a cool old-school vibe. I told the bartender that ordering a beer in a place like this felt like I was insulting him. He laughed and told me not to worry about it. The drink special was called "Naked and Famous," which honestly sounded like the perfect cocktail to order in honor of Jen. But then I spotted a dark beer on the menu that sounded too good to pass up. If you follow me, you know I'm slowly becoming a dark beer guy. I liked it a lot. The sandwich special was a cheesesteak. Sorry, I should've taken a picture of the menu. But I really enjoyed it, and for $18 it came with a mountain of seasoned fries, which feels like a bargain these days. Bomb Shell: the two people working absolutely crushed it. I don't know if they were understaffed or if Monday night got busier than expected, but they were working their tails off the entire time.
