We both settled on the cheeseburger ($18 each) that came with a side of fries, a ramekin of ketchup, and a wee pickle slice. The burger arrived on a decent-sized bun and the meat was cooked fine, yet no condiments came with it. We asked for onions and tomatoes along with the cheese; however, two small pieces of onion and two small tomatoes dressed the burger. We used our small ramekin of ketchup not only for our French fries but also to add moisture to the burger. No mayo, no mustard in sight. Fries tasted good but just lukewarm and not sizzling hot. Guess I shouldn't complain about airport food, yet with the upped prices, many eateries could do a little better in providing a better quality experience.

When we arrived, I immediately noticed the restaurant had been rebranded from Pappas Seafood House to Pappadeaux. Once inside, I was surprised when the hostess informed me the wait was actually closer to two hours. I explained that I'd just spoken with someone on the phone who quoted a much shorter wait time. Thankfully, another hostess, Ellen, stepped in and worked some magic, offering us an available table almost immediately. That completely changed the trajectory of our evening. I summoned the kiddo from the car, who was fully prepared for a long wait, and we were escorted to a comfortable booth tucked away in the back corner of the bar area. Lesli was our server, and she did a solid job despite the Father's Day crowd. We both ordered the Shrimp & Chicken Tenderloins platter--he went with the medium ($21.95) and I opted for the large ($28.95), both served with French fries. I also added a side of dirty rice ($5.95). The restaurant was packed, so the complimentary bread arrived at the same time as our meals, but that's easy to overlook on a busy holiday. What matters is that the food delivered exactly what we've come to expect from Pappadeaux. The shrimp was perfectly fried--crispy on the outside and tender inside. The chicken tenderloins were thick, juicy, and flavorful, not the dry, overcooked strips you get at lesser establishments. The dirty rice was a great addition and rounded out the meal nicely. We've never been disappointed by the shrimp and chicken at Pappadeaux, and this visit was no exception. Great flavor of citrus, seared tuna, and the right ratio of crudo to wonton chips. My lunch guest got the crawfish hush puppies which weren't as great as the crudo- dry but came with an amazing gravy so definitely soak them up in that, but was lacking crawfish- had to search for them in each hush puppy- trust me, get the crudo. The catfish dish- wow- large serving I had to take home the leftovers. The crispy cornmeal was perfect, the sweet chili glaze wasn't spicy but more like a sweet and sour sauce which sounds odd with catfish but it works! So delicious. And that bed of mushroom risotto- creamy, and with plenty of mushroom pieces, no skimping there and we're not taking about teeny pieces and sparse mushroom in this risotto, good size pieces and plenty! Although it was lunch we also added dessert- the banana foster egg roll, crispy on the outside, great cinnamon flavor, a delicious buttery sauce, so you can pour on top as much to as you like and a soft, sweet, delicious banana filling.
