I eat... And this is maybe the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. If you like serious HEAT with real, actual flavor, the Angry Bird is what you've been searching for. The slaw adds crunch and some brighter flavor from the veggies and dressing; and since the breading and slaw provide the heat it's not just a regular sandwich with hot sauce on it or whatever, it's an actual spicy sandwich. That sentence might sound dumb to some, but you either get it or you don't. The Nashville Hot is a step down heat-wise from the Angry Bird -but still a punch in the mouth- and tasty as hell. I haven't tried a ton of the other stuff here -the fries are good and the slaws are awesome. Haven't had the biscuits, waffles or ribs. No reason to doubt any of it though. Saw the reviews and decided to drop by and place an order. MY Mistake. Never go to this place without ordering online. I placed an order for a Nashville Hot sandwich and coleslaw. I was notified it would take 25 minutes to be ready. Rude staff who are suffering from a horrible ordering system that treats online and walk-in orders equally. Yeah. This place is friggin amazing. Simple small menu for a good reason. The food is truly 5 stars. I've had several of the sandwiches, all perfectly balanced fried chicken. Perfect crunch, fat, season, moisture ratio. Magic, really. You can literally feel dopamine and endorphins release as you eat. One star deduction: the awful, awful, AWFUL country music radio they play. It sucks. So much. I ordered from this location last Sunday 8/29. Never ate at any of the Flip the Bird locations so this was my first experience and I have to say I was thoroughly disappointed. I ordered the Nashville Hot and fries for my wife and the Early Bird and fries for myself. My wife's sandwich was great. It tasted like chicken and even had signs that there was actual CHICKEN. My sandwich on the other hand was very much just deep fried bread coating with little traces of chicken. I emailed the location and they gave me a full refund for the order. My husband and I accidentally ended up ordering to go on their opening night! It was super amazing although they were out of a bunch of stuff (which I can't wait to go back and try and I don't fault them for) we got the pch and the Nashville hot sandwich. Both were delicious and super crunchy and just perfect. The fries were great with salt and pepper. We also got the watermelon and cucumber salad and the coleslaw both were super good and refreshing next to the fried chicken. The sweet tea is straight up from the south and just perfect. It can get pretty crowded at times and the staff seems to have a difficult time when it does, but I will return. Consistent, flavorful, and great service, Flip the Bird is a fantastic restaurant. Flip the Bird has the best chicken sandwiches. I personally can attest to their 'OG', Nashville Hot, Angry Bird, and Cry Bird as well as their shakes (referred to as Frappes). Flip the Bird always has consistent, juicy chicken, with a crispy fry and great sauce. What especially surprised me is the flavor of the Cry Bird. Sandwiches that are overly spicy tend to lose flavor or are spicy for the sake of being spicy. For the Cry Bird, even though the sandwich was pushing me to tears, the red pepper jelly, slaw, and combination of ghost pepper and habaneros was incredible. The 'OG' is a classic chicken sandwich and a shining example of how something as simple as a fried chicken sandwich can be executed so well-- great batter, good pickles, wonderful potato roll (used on all their sandwiches). Their Angry Bird is by far my favorite, the habaneros spice fried chicken is flavorful and saucy, the pickled chili peppers add a great vinegary flavor profile that eases out the spice, and the bayou sauce and chili pepper jelly add more depth and richness to the sandwich. Of their sandwiches, the Nashville is the weakest. While still delicious, it falls short of real Nashville style chicken. Finally, their Frappes (shakes) are a knockout. Utilizing Richardson's Ice cream from a local, award-winning dairy farm, the richness and sweetness of the milk highlight the flavors of vanilla and chocolate. The seasonal frappes are also excellent. The strawberry Frappe is incredible with a fresh strawberry flavor, and the Oreo Fro-Yo frappe isn't overly sweet and the milk flavor balances out the frozen yogurt. read more

So, yeah, like everyone else on the planet, I try to eat healthy. Or at least, I try to avoid things that are deep fried AND carb-laden. Fried chicken and waffles should not make the list, right? Wrong. Look, you can't just eat broccoli and kale all the time. It's a quality of life issue. Once in a while, go for the good stuff. The deep fried stuff, crispy skin and crunchy batter, cozied up next to a beautiful fluffy waffle, complete with maple syrup for dipping .... plan to spend the rest of the day napping. But go for the chicken and waffles. Not good for your waistline but oh-so-good for your soul. Bring a friend and make them get a sandwich with pickles and fries, because you'll need to trade a (teensy) piece of waffle for a fry dipped into the sauce, or a sour slice of pickle. I hope the owners pause in their expansion to revisit these original locations. Beverly was filthy last visit, our shoes were sticking to the floor. Employees are grouchy and toggling between dropping choice words, looking at their phones and taking 20 minutes to serve up some pretty average chicken sandwiches that weren't even hot when we bit in (and we ate onsite). If you're looking for a silver lining, it was the fries, however, fries don't usually keep people from dropping signficant $ for a fairly subpar experience. Flip the Bird was me and my girlfriends favorite place to get a chicken sandwich and chicken tenders. We would get the Nashville hot sandwiches and Nashville hot chicken tenders with the honey mustard. Over the last few months they have removed the Nashville hot seasoning option on the chicken tenders and the normal ones are below average at best. AMAZING! What a great place that has came to the northshore. My boyfriend and I, have heard great things about it and we never got around to trying it till last weekend. Outdoor seating makes it one of the few places with affordable food with outdoor seating in Beverly!! Im in here once a week. I have taken many people here and they LOVE this place. They produce the most consistent product out of many of the restaurants I frequent. They have continuously improved their customer experience and their fries. The chicken sandwich is crispy, delicious, and packed with flavor. Unique and you get what you pay for... I spend about $12 a visit and I am more than happy to do that! Ok, Ive had my eye on this place for a long time. I like places that are unique and have good food. Almost every rest is so basic. I read so many reviews before I came here so I said why not. I got the Nashville Chicken, Fries with truffle ketchup, and black and white frappe. The sandwich wasnt bad. I mean, lets just say if I come back again Ill probably will get something different. The fries were good, they were thick not basic like most shops and the truffle ketchup tastes really good. I personally wasnt big on the frappe but I love they use real local icecream. Basically, if i had to choose between going here and Chik Fil A, Id go here, hands down. Price wise, they are prob the same. Im sure Ill be back and if I do, Ill be aiming for the spicy chicken sandwich they have that comes with gloves, I need a challenge. Ill also prob grab the sweet tea.
