I proceeded to go to the booth where my daughter was eating and a waitress stopped me and asked "where are you going"? I mean wtf, why else am I there? Finally we got a waitress who treated us nicely but the lady behind the counter grumbled about us loudly so everyone could hear about our nerve of trying to sit, get served and eat at their business. I visited this place with a friend for lunch last weekend, only to be told that they didn't serve from the lunch menu on weekends. So we ordered breakfast sandwiches. The sandwiches themselves were a bit sad for the price, but edible. However, the home fries/hash browns (we each got a different one so I got to try both) tasted like nothing even with extra salt added, and the hash browns were almost completely white and undercooked. I'm a regular customer. My wife and I arrived for brunch at 12:10. Stephy's is normally open until 1. As we walked in some lady behind the bar starts yelling at us that they are closed. However, more than half the tables were occupied. I'm ok with for some reason they are closing early but someone should have come over and apologized for the inconvenience. Had a terrible experience at Stephy's. The owner actually was so insulting. He had the whole place laughing at me. I had ordered hash Benedict. Something I always order in other restaurants. Do not go when it's busy. You will have to wait out in a little, cold waiting area, stuffed with tons of people. I wasn't aware I had to wait, so I went in and sat down at an empty bench, and the waitress told me there were people ahead of me so I had to wait. So I went out, with my friend and her 3 kids, and we waited for about 10-15 minutes, only for them to seat us at the same empty table I had sat at initially. Very slow. Also, the waitress gave my friend a hard time about bringing her own creamer in. She is lactose intolerant. The staff were extremely helpful and checked in with us several times to see if we were doing well. The waitress that served us was so warm and friendly. The menu had so many options for breakfast it was hard to believe. All of the foods on the menu were a very affordable, reasonable price for the quality of the food. The food came quickly after we ordered and was delicious! I had the French toast which was scrumptious and the other person I went with had the monte Cristo and said it was one of the best breakfasts they have had from a diner. Went with my kids shortly before closing. They admitted us and said it was fine. Ordered a dish with extra Hollandaise. They brought a dish without, and that was the whole point of the dish. I asked for the extra hollanda They said they were closed. No more hollandaise. If they were closed why did they admit us? On leaving I didn't leave a great tip, as I would usually. Servers were incensed and harassed us. Avoid if you have any expectation of reasonable service. Otherwise prepare to run away with your kids in order to avoid abuse. Owner previously posted hyper-defensive retort, claiming they have never run out of Hollandaise sauce in many years, and claiming they have immunity because they are a family owned business. Family owned businesses should take care of families. None of this would be happening had I not been harassed by servers for leaving a sub-optimal tip for horrendous service. I would have ignored this as inconsequential had not my kids been involved, hearing me harassed for supposed cheapness by entitled servers. read more

Went to Stephys's Kitchen for the first time since it has been sold and I will say it will be the LAST time as long as the female cook is behind the grill. She is very unprofessional. She was talking about a customer who asked for extra sauce cause she put next to nothing on their wrap, yep, that customer was me! Seems like she doesn't care how food looks or what customers like she just throws it on a plate and sends it out. I heard that other regulars have stopped going in since she's been behind the grill too and that's what made me write this review to make the new owners aware. So disappointing! I have been going to Stephy's for almost 30 years, I'm only 38 now. I go to Stephy's 1-2 times per WEEK!!! This new female cook is absolutely horrible. I have been ordering my pancakes lightly cooked since I have been going there. I can count on 1 hand how many times they were a bit undercooked and there was still some uncooked batter in the middle. Yesterday was one of those days. When I asked Diana for another pancake, this rude cook yells out, "do they want it lightly cooked or cooked regular? Because they orders it lightly cooked". She's right, I did! Just as I had the DAY BEFORE!!!! And it wasn't raw in the middle. I am not the one to keep my mouth shut and as I started to talk back to her I looked at Diana's terrified face. That told me if that if I speak up, Diana will probably get in trouble. This is not the first instance this lady has acted this way and I can guarantee, it won't be the last. She is a nasty person. The day before my nephew asked for his home fries to be cooked more and she once again yelled out "I don't know how they expect me to do that?!" Well lady, here's some advice, FIGURE IT OUT!!!
