I learned my lesson and checked out the area on Yelp before deciding to head to Flip's for dinner. The genre fit perfectly since I am in Fort Worth checking out the Goodguy's car show this weekend. The spot had some good reviews. First impressions were good, the place is huge with a nice sized sit yourself patio, 2 large indoor bars, and a "family" seating area inside. TVs are everywhere in the place if you decide to sit inside. Jeff and I decided to grab one of the few open spots on the patio. We were there early, the weather was great, and the patio was nearly full already. The patio looks prepared for the middle of summer when it gets here. Fans all over the place with mister attachments on every one of them. Even in the seat yourself area, the staff located us right away and were asking how they could help us. The whole time we were there, they were very attentive. We had the fried pickles to start. They were good, really sour, and not greasy at all. I went with the Suicide Jack buger for my meal. Other than the buger being much more done than the medium I asked for it was also really good. Great flavor on the burger itself and the pepper jack cheese and other peppers added a nice amount of heat to the burger. A nice touch was the toasted bun. The price was right. So if you in the area and in the mood for some typical bar/grill style meal, this is a good choice. read more

4 star rating goes to the wait time for our burgers. We've been here many times and the service is always quick. Sunday at noon, this was not the case. Took forever to get our 2 burgers and the restaurant was practically empty. Finally our server came over and said it was because a big group ordered alot of pancakes off the brunch menu. This excuse made me laugh! And made me more aggravated! Shame on the cooks for not being able to flip some pancakes and cook burgers at the same time. Once we got our burgers, they were as usual Delicious! Flips really does have some of the best burgers in Fort Worth. We ordered one burger medium rare and one medium and they both came out perfectly cooked. I LOVE when a place can get a perfectly cooked medium rare burger. I had the Fish and Chips which were good also. Flip's Chips are some of the best I have had. Their prices are cheap. It's NBA playoff season (GO MAVS) and for game 2 against the Spurs (Booo) my friend and I needed a place to watch. This was my first time at Flips, and I was immediately impressed with the layout. As you walk up to the entrance you see a good sized patio with a lot of bar-height table seating. I didn't see many TV's outside so we decided to go inside. Closer to the entrance doors you will see on your left that sliding glass doors are open and you can walk down a couple stairs to get to the bar. It gives a great open and welcoming atmosphere. Inside of Flips, tables are spread out nicely and there are TV's everywhere for prime viewing of various sports. I ordered a beer, fried pickles (a signature appetizer) and the BBQ Bacon Burger w/ chips. The pickles were just ok. There wasn't a ton of flavor in the batter, and just having ranch to dip didn't help. I also think the slices where just a bit too thin because many of them were shriveled up once they came out. I would probably pass on these next time. The burger was juicy and delicious. It was delivered medium as ordered, BBQ sauce was plentiful, and veggies were fresh. The bacon was piled all crumbled up, though not as overflowing as Snuffers. The chips and fries at Flips are made in-house and you can definitely tell. The chips are crispy with just a bit of oil left to let you know they're fresh. I tried some of my friend's fries and they were good as well with that fresh hand-cut taste. Between the two of us the bill was roughly $35 total for two meals, and appetizer, and two drinks. So it was about what I was expecting. I also want to complement the hostess and waitstaff who were both very friendly and attentive. Be aware that this place didn't seem to have a lot of parking, so if you're going on a busy night, try and get there early or you'll be parking on the street. Thirsty Thursday after work!!!!! Cassidy is the best waitress and we get her almost every week. Extremely personable and friendly with us. We have groups that range from 4 people to 20+. She always handles the group well. Never an empty drink on the table. Good drink and food prices. I think the food is extremely good as well. Same waitresses and bartenders for as long as I can remember. Minimal turnover shows these guys like taking care of their employees who in turn treat their customer great! This place is huge compared to the Grapevine location. Tons of tvs, pool tables, and a bar separated from the families who are eating. About 9 or 10pm the building becomes 21 and over for anyone new entering. This is nice because it cuts down on all the kid noise. This place has a huge patio that is jam packed during nice weather. They play good music and let you get pretty loud and have a good time. I will continue coming back for as long as I live in this location. read more

This place is ginormous. Recently took in a Mavericks playoff game here and the whole experience was a pleasurable one. For those interested in billiards, you will find pool tables o' plenty. The staff at Flips seems to be competent and friendly. Atmosphere is lively with a good crowd, at least the night I went. Parking actually spilled out onto the street. Flips decor is something out of Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom. I was shocked to see an Elephants head, tusks included, hanging on the wall. Absolutely not a place members of P.E.T.A. would enjoy. This a quite a large sports bar with a large patio area if you feel like sitting outside. Not many places that stay open as late as Flips so it not surprisingly usually pretty busy and loud. Not conducive for an imitate setting but great for sports enthusiasts that love feeding of the vibes of large rambunctious crowds. The bartenders seem to not have a turnover as I recognize them from prior visits. They are always nice and willing to take the time to help you navigate thru there many food and alcoholic choices. As a bar, I give this place 4 stars, but due to the food, I'll drop it down to 3 stars. My boyfriend and I walk here often for drinks. Walking, it's less than five minutes from our apartment, and it's always packed on Friday and Saturday nights. It's definitely a good place to have some drinks when you don't want to go downtown or too far out of the way. As for food, my boyfriend and I actually went to Flips our first time to have dinner. I ordered a burger and fries while my boyfriend ordered... well I don't remember now. Regardless we both agreed that the food was overpriced bar food. The prices reflect that of other adjacent restaurants, but the food doesn't live up to the same quality. More recently we shared a plate of bacon cheese fries with some friends and I didn't like them at all. They were so saturated with grease that they had no taste, other than grease of course. I can't believe something COVERED in delicious cheddar and bacon bits, had no taste! If I eat anything else here, it will have to be a sandwich or something I suspect won't be ruined by grease. The service is competent but not stellar, the ambience is bland, and the food tastes pretty much like you'd expect it to: fried pub food with a variety of sauces. I think the main problem here is that Flips is a sports bar trying to be a restaurant. The service here is great 9 out of 10 times. The other 1 out of 10, it has always been because they are obviously very busy, so hard to knock them for that. The food is really good. With work, gym, etc, we typically eat pretty late (like at midnight sometimes....) and I know rolling in there late, we won't have any issues since they are open until 2am. Flips is a big, bustling place - even on a Sunday evening when we went. And though they are set up to handle the night life, (two large racetrack bars, as well as one of the biggest patios I've seen), they still manage to have enough space quarantined away for a young family with kids to enjoy their hamburger and fries. Indeed my three year old enjoyed the safari decor if not the two 8 foot tall bears that greeted us at the doorway. The menu was varied and affordable, heavily weighted towards standard grill fare, sandwiches and hamburgers, and prices were reasonable - in the $10-14 a plate range. The steak in my steak salad wasn't cooked quite to the Med-Rare specified (pet peeve - if your going to cook it WELL done, then do not ask me how i want it), but I still enjoyed it. My wifes Salmon was better than average as well as my daughters child hamburger. All in all, not great, but good. Which incidentally matched the service - very friendly, very competent, what you should expect. Flips has earned its way into our family rotation - do not be afraid to give it a go. read more

Not happy with the 'private club' rules. We arrived at 10:15pm for a late dinner. My husband left his passport at home & only had his Turkish ID. Simply because the door man wasnt 'familar' with his foreign identification he wouldnt allow him in. Regardless of the fact that my mother & I had our Texas id's. An exception wasnt made because of his ignorance. We wanted dinner, not to get sloshed. Plus, im 8 months pregnant...I was obviously there for food, you would think the 'private club' would allow guest in to enjoy a meal if at least one person in your party is a 'club card holder'. So, in the search of a good place in DFW to find a good happy hour spot. My search has moved over to Fort Worth and surrounding areas. By judging a book by its covers, I thought for sure that Fort Worth would have some great neighborhood local bars! I mean hard core dives! Though, I found nothing but nice and large bars with an OK following. Which leads me to Flips. The place is awesome, its clean and has a very cool venue. Tons of wild dead animals on the walls - with some cool car neon lamp fixtures. So it kept me busy looking around. The female staff were attractive and wore corp. looking outfits with black shirts and black shorts. Nothing revealing at all but heh, i take what I can get. But they had a patio, two bars inside and a pool table area with plenty of seating,. Tons of great sized TV's. I saw tons of sports fans here and lots of regulars with their convertible corvettes :) ((Texas Retirement Joke)) - but you can tell this place had a local following. The beer selection was good and had some great specials for beers. Not to mention they actually told me the specials before I ordered a 5 dollar beer on my own. :) KUDOS The food was good, I had the cheese fries and stuffed shrimp with fried pickles! Dont get me wrong, I love fried food but alot of stuff in the apptizier was fried!!! ECK, i feel my veins clogging as I speak. Though, im sure I over looked perhaps some healthier food.
