I don't leave reviews ever really but I had to with this place. The interior is very cozy, theres a cute little library too. The lady at the counter was really sweet. I got a oat milk matcha latte with a little bit of lavender syrup and a pastrami banh mi. They were so so so good. The matcha was so earthy and the foam was perfect. The pastrami banh mi was toasted and so fresh. This is honestly the best matcha I've had in pasadena. I think this has turned into my favorite café! read more

3 stars for inconsistent quality and subpar service. Been here twice. First time ordered pesto chicken sandwich and orange float. Both were delicious, particularly the orange float. They gave a generous amount ice cream, which makes sense considering the $9 cost, and you pick the glass bottled soda flavor from the front fridge to add to the cup. Went again because I craved the orange float. This time the soda from the fridge was warm and they didn't give much ice cream to begin with so the whole thing just melted really fast and became orange float soup. I told the employee about the small amount of ice cream and warm soda, asking her if the fridge was not working. She admitted the fridge was broken but essentially ignored the complaint and didn't provide any alternatives to rectify the situation. If you're naming your business after an item like float and charging $9 for it, make sure that float is amazing. They could've easily just put the sodas in the back fridge or something and give consistent amount of ice cream. Also, train employees on how to better handle feedback. Service was swift and friendly, the coffee was good, and I had a fantastic pastrami banh mi, while my friend said his Italian sandwich was also great. Float is located in a very cute alley that somewhat makes me feel like I'm in London. I love the area because it's very pretty and makes me feel like I'm in a whole different country. I had originally came to the coffee shop across this sandwich place but while waiting in line I kept seeing people eating these tasty looking sandwiches I had to get one myself. The sandwiches looked delicious and we were so hungry. We gave it a try and I loved it. I ordered the chipotle sandwich and it had everything I'd hope for in a sandwich. The bread was crispy, the sauce was tasty, and all the toppings in the sandwich paired amazing together. I will for sure come back and try some different sandwiches. read more

I stopped in here while visiting the Burlington Arcade (which is straight out of London btw) because the food smelled THAT good. I'm not a sandwich person at all but I had to try one, and so glad I did! Dutch crunch bread was what got us in the door! Although I still prefer the Dutch crunch bread at Ike's, the sandwiches are solid here with great customer service.  I ordered the pesto chicken and upgraded to "bento" which includes a salad and a king size of a fresh rice krispy treat! The bread was warm and crunchy with a generous portion of chicken.  It was delicious! Hubby got the turkey sandwich unfortunately it was a bit dry, we had to ask for extra mayo and pesto for it to taste up to par to the chicken pesto.  I was so full from the sandwich I could only eat half of the rice krispy treat. Due to all the great reviews, we've been wanting to go here for a while. Unfortunately, we were pretty disappointed. Maybe our expectations were too high, but the sandwiches were very mediocre, especially for the price. With Mendocino Farms, Urbane Cafe, Lemonade, etc. and other sandwich places nearby with comparable prices, there are so many better options and better sandwiches for comparable prices. There was actually barely any meat in the sandwiches and the sandwich tasted very average, and probably something you can make at home. Finally, service was pretty average too. Stop and READ Gave this place 3 different chances, I told myself "this is just a fluke" or "there just backed up". This place for some reason is unorganized. Nice spot for an affogato or a sando. Always an interesting, good looking crowd and kind, attentive service. The retail corridor that Float sits at one end of seems to skew towards influencers because it is so visual, but don't let that stop you from visiting. And it is so damn easy to park on weekends, which I can't say for most places in Pasadena. Recommended, and I am excited to try more of the things. read more

FOOD POISONING!!!!!!! My partner and I split a Turkey sandwich yesterday from Float and BOTH got food poisoning. BEWARE.... not clean food. UPDATE: Joyce, just because your turkey is allegedly sliced fresh every day, doesn't mean someone with dirty hands didn't make my sandwich, or that dirty produce wasn't used, or that it wasn't made on a dirty cutting board or that the turkey was kept at a proper refrigerated temperature.... There are endless ways this sandwich could have made us sick. UPDATE: Hey Joyce, here is some evidence for my claims. And you are correct, I am not the only one to make these claims. Looks like hundreds of food and safety inspectors have found major sanitation violations at Float over the years... so glad these are public record. On 3/18 Float received a MAJOR VIOLATION from Environmental Health Services that there was GRIME FOUND ON YOUR MEAT SLICER! Major Violations are critical risk factor violations that pose the highest risk of causing food poisoning (or foodborne illness). Major violations require immediate corrective action. Here is the sanitation report violation from 3/18 claiming you have mold in your ice and grime in your meat slicer. I would say this is adequate proof that your turkey sandwich gave me food poisoning; regardless of its daily slice fresh, if there is grime on your slicer you are going to make someone sick. ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SERVICES MAJOR VIOLATION INSPECTION REPORT FOR FLOAT 03/18/2024 Food contact surfaces: Inspectors Comments: 1. Observed mold-like substance on ice trays of the ice machine. Cute & charming outdoor dining in the arcade is nice . The pastrami sandwich was below average, served not on a traditional crunchy baguette, but on a soft , lame , bready bun ( think of hot dog bun. ) The pastrami was so fatty and full of gristle , that I had to pick it apart to find any red meat of which there was little ! Ever since Float has gotten popular, both their service and food quality have drastically declined. Today, I had breakfast there and got the Roast Beef sandwich and experienced so many issues about it. First, I asked for no provolone, and they still served it with the cheese. Secondly, the menu noted that every sandwich is served with Dutch Crunch bread. However, my sandwich was served on a plain white bread roll -- NOT Dutch Crunch. Thirdly, when confronting the cashier about the bread, she lied and said it was Dutch Crunch; she said they get the bread from the same supplier, so it is Dutch Crunch. However, I know exactly what Dutch Crunch is, as I've had it at Float 50+ times before. Today's bread was definitely NOT Dutch Crunch, yet the cashier kept lying and not owning up to the mistake. If Float is out of Dutch Crunch, they should make it clear on the menu and when customers are ordering. They should NOT lie and make up excuses. read more

What brought me to Float the high yelp ratings of course. On first impression the shopping center that Float is in is really cool. It is a glass covered promenade that reminds me of a European shopping center. The location has a little bit of inside seating with nice outside seating. This is a great location to eat outside at on a nice day. For food we just got two chipotle club sandwiches and chips. A little pricey I think it was just under 30 dollars for just two sandwiches and chips. I thought the sandwiches was pretty good and I liked the chipotle speed that they make fresh there. That was probably the most unique thing about it, other than that you know what to expect with getting a club sandwich. Also the sandwich was pretty filling. I bought the roast beef sandwich for lunch and found it incredibly well balanced with tender juicy roast beef. The lettuce was crisp and everything was well seasoned! The staff are very friendly and helpful and the little shop is adorable. The outside looks like you're walking through Hogsmead in Harry Potter which makes it even more fun. The vibe of this place is really nice and aesthetic, but the downside was the the food took a reallllly long time. The roast beef sandwich alone probably took around 30 minutes. There were many other customers that had also ordered sandwiches that waited even longer than I did. Aside from the waiting time, the food and root beer float were pretty good, although they were fairly pricey for what they were. Hi everyone, I just spoke to the workers at Float, and they were not helpful at all. There are 2 girls working answering the phone pretending to be the manager being very rude. I called to get a side of red onions and pickles with my sandwich, and all hell broke loose. The girl hung the phone up me. I called back, and she answered without an apology.
