WOW! I've found my new place to relax and find nirvana! Sure, it can bet pricey, yet I think it is such a great investment if this works for you! I know that I don't mind spending some money if I find something really effective that works to help me feel well rested and relaxed! I've previously floated in a deprivation tank in the city, yet Campbell is so much closer and I am happy to have found my new spot to relax. After my sessions, I have found that I am sleeping better since I have terrible insomnia and that's been so frustrating. I have mostly worked with the assistant manager, Monica. She is simply very accommodating and professional! After scheduling my first float online, I arrived fifteen minutes early with my friend for the walk-through and orientation. While filling out paperwork, the person I was working with left and another person came out to tell me my float had to be rescheduled. I finally figured out that because my hair is red I cannot use their tanks. I read their FAQs and brought a swim cap, and apparently that's not enough. I learned about the Float Station from my husband, who wanted us to try a float session at what was a relatively new facility in the area. We'd both been curious abut the concept of sensory deprivation and some of the reported benefits it provides. We've never been more pleasantly surprised. The location in Campbell is a calm, serene, relaxing environment. The staff are very friendly, and people new to the float session experience are given a full tutorial about the preparation required to get the most out of their float session. The float pods are a little futuristic-looking, but the pods themselves are very well-engineered to give you exactly what you need for an optimal float session. The room in which you float is quiet, cozy, and secure. And after a float session, what happens? That depends. For my husband, the benefits are primarily physical and secondarily mental. As someone suffering from long-term sciatica, he was used to living every day in varying amounts of constant pain. Following his very first float session, it took him a bit of time to realize what was different; he had no lower back pain.This was so alien to him he had to realize it. At this point, a float session every two weeks results in the elimination of all his sciatic pain. As a mental benefit, he gets to relax and have a focused thought session, whether it's about work or the novels he is writing. For me, the benefits are primarily mental, and secondarily physical. I work in a high-stress environment and I tend to be affected by my stress. The effects of the float session were not as obvious at first, but I came to realize I was being more relaxed, then later that by entering in this relaxed state I could sort through various issues rather than getting frustrated with them. This led to more calm, more productivity, and a generally less-stressful outlook. There have been some physical benefits as well. One thing I tended to do was stress-eating, and I was gaining weight. Since the float sessions began, my weight has stabilized, and in fact has been slowly decreasing. I was using mindfulness to no longer let my stress be such a controlling factor in my life, and instead direct me towards healthier pursuits. WOW what an amazing, relaxing experience. It was my first time floating and there is just nothing else like it. For me it was better than a massage; the solitude really helps, it's like a massage for the mind. If it's your mind that's making you sore, at the end of the day, you should come here. I was referred by my boyfriend who loved his first float. I was very nervous at first because I didn't know what I was going to do for an hour. Being a visual person, I watched videos, researched, and listened to my bf's experience. I was so nervous when I first came in, but the woman who gave me my orientation helped ease me. They literally take you step by step, there's a lot of info but it's really easy to follow. Just remember the main rules! Some rules are applied to avoid damage and cost repair both to the pod and yourself! I was given a gift card by my bf, so they make it really easy for guests to want to try a float pod. They'll offer water, let you settle in the lobby until your room is available. Make sure you come on time (15 mins prior) to your appointment so that you get the full affect. Once the music starts, you gta keep up. When you get to your room they orient you about the lights, ear buds, slippers, shower, towels etc you do have to shower before, it's like the pool, you need to wash off any oils and lotions. The shower looks beautiful by the way, it's like a real life spa shower next to your pod. There will also be petroleum jelly for you to apply on scars or cuts, because it will BURN once you're in the pod lol From there, you can choose to birthday suit in or swimming suit. I and many people prefer birthday suit. It feels so liberating!!!!!!! OWN IT OWN YOUR BODY!!!!! Then let it go into total relaxation there's a spray in the pod with fresh water in case you get the salt water in your eyes, but try really hard to not touch your eyes ever with your hands once you're in the pod. The two times I've gone, the introductory music always stops before I get in the pod. But if you time it correctly, the music can help soothe and calm you when you first get in the pod. My bf doesn't waste any time, he always gets the music when he gets in the pod lmao. After stepping in, sit and slowly just let your body float. Put your head back slowly and relax your neck muscles. If you're too scared to do that, there will be a head floatie!! You'll have a choice on whether you want to turn the light off or not. I haven't yet because I love the space color feelings, but if you feel like you might doze off then go ahead and turn off the light. I plan to turn it off my next time around. The hour goes by faster than you think, even when you're awake the whole time. Honestly I haven't been fully awake yet, Ive fallen in and out of sleep or I've been half asleep. The same gentle music that puts you to sleep will turn on 3-5 minutes before your time is over. It'll wake you up and you'll know you have a couple minutes to wake up and chill before having to get out. The floating experience personally felt like I was floating in space. As an athlete (volleyball so the joints are all whacked) it was relieving, even though you're floating I can feel it pinpoint the pain. You feel like you're on another level and your day is ... I don't even know how to explain it. Brighter lol. I don't want to say it feels like you're on drugs all day but you feel this sense of euphoria, peace, and just an all day chill. They said we would get a really good night's sleep and I believe them, but we have a kitten that likes to pounce around in the middle of the night so We have scheduled a float every weekend since our first. Because we refer or get referred, you and your referred or referral get a free float! Again, they try to really get ppl to want to come out and try the float station. I'm a believer! I wanted to try floating as a 'last resort' to heal old wounds from running and working out too strenuously - tendonitis, bursitis, slipped discs, knee pain, joint pain, everywhere pain PAIN. In reality, I used to do Epsom salt baths after really harsh runs & workouts and they helped so I reverted to that logic with floating ... I'm so glad I did. My first experience couldn't have been more pleasant. Katie greeted me with all smiles and explained things so thoroughly that I was very comfortable. I've emailed questions to them and the whole staff is nothing but wonderful and pleasant. I've floated twice now and I can say honestly, from a Type A personality who's also a little claustrophobic, I feel more relaxed and balanced already. The first time was hard to completely let go but Katie assured me this is perfectly normal and everyone is different. I noticed the first benefit immediately after because my shoulder blades were in the resting position when I was talking with Katie - my body didn't hurt as much and felt much more relaxed than before I went in. I slept like a ROCK that night, it was amazing. My second time was tonight and it's true what they say - time seems to go faster each time! The physiological benefits of this magnesium soak are working well for me. The relaxation benefits last for days. I recommend this for anyone who is stressed or injured. The place is very clean and the water is well filtered. Shower and towels are clean with nice soap, shampoo, and conditioner. This is been a welcomed surprise in my life. For someone who has ADHD as bad as I do, you figure laying in a float would be the last thing I could stand. However, on a whim I gave it a try. I met Katie and Ryan when they first opened and they answered all my questions and walked me through the whole process.They have amazing facilities and private rooms afforded to each person. After slipping into the pod it was awesome. I was able to let go and turn my brain off and get to a level of relaxation that is rare. What I want to emphasize is that the effects lasts for days after. The magnesium soak stays with you and for the next couple nights you will have the best sleep in your life. Its like a nyquil nap without having to take medicine. I liked it so much I got floats for my entire family and they all had great things to say. A couple of friends who get seasick on boats mentioned that they got a little dizzy. So that is something to keep in mind. Its a great value in a great location. I had heard of this and really wanted to try it to see if it would help with stress and mediation. The facility is spotlessly clean and the staff were really friendly. Using the pod was really simple. I was worried that I might get claustrophobic but that was not close to being an issue. I think I even fell asleep towards the end of the float. I tried floating years ago (15) in Los Gatos at a place called Cloud 9. I think it is gone now. Anybody out there remember that? It was a great experience however, at that time, it was a tough sell. We are now in 2017 and inundated with social media, phones, traffic, and more sounds with all the congestion of Silicon Valley. Don't you think it is time to try a silent float? It is you in a comfy room with a pod full of body temperature water that you can keep open or closed. Your thoughts, your dreams and your letting go can all happen right there for that 1 hour. Moms! You don't have to lock yourself in the bathroom for peace and quiet. You can just float. I get completely lost in there and have even fallen into a deep trance. I feel so rejuvenated and decided to go ahead and sign up for a monthly float to make sure I get in there and work on my mindfulness meditation float. Wow! I just finished a float and it was such an amazing experience. The location is super clean, and all the staff were friendly. Naomi helped me get acquainted with everything and answered all my questions. As this was my first float I really wasn't sure what to expect. Do I leave the pod open or closed, turn off the lights or leave them on? Well I decided to fully commit to the experience. I closed the pod all the way (did not feel claustrophobic at all) and turned out the lights. At first it's hard to stop thinking about all the things you need to do in a day, which way your arms feel comfortable up or down, etc. But once you do, it is simply the best feeling! With people's stress levels at an all-time high, especially in the busy Bay Area, this experience can provide a welcome respite by which to escape, rest and rejuvenate. This establishment is extremely clean and comfortable, and the welcoming staff members are professional, efficient and friendly. Having floated a few times, I can't say I'd want to anymore, but I can earnestly recommend it to a population that has become angry, impatient, overworked, and spiritually compromised. However, if you personally are at peace with God---especially with Jesus---via the Holy Ghost baptism---then isolation tank floating is virtually unnecessary. I've discovered that a "baptism" in water---even relaxing salt water---can't compare with the spiritual baptism from heaven that consistently provides joy, peace, and true rest for the soul. Float station can be appealing to many people, but those who seek TRUE REST for their souls would benefit by praying for Christ to bless them with His holy baptism. No water needed! The "rest" comes free! And for those who aren't inclined to such spiritual journeys, then Float Station will be very enjoyable; certainly a temporary oasis.
