I can't say enough great things about this store. After buying a 'fixer upper' we have frequented this store a lot over the last 2 years. Every time we have taken on a new project (building a walk in shower from scratch, tiling our floors and now laying laminate) we obviously had a lot of questions. Every single person we have encountered out on the floor has been amazing. They all take the time to answer your questions, offer suggestions, make conversation and check back in with you. They don't rush to get away from you, they walk you around the store, and have a genuine care for your satisfaction. Randy and a gentleman who's name I can't spell (begins with D and is named after a 1950's French actor) have been phenomenal every time we have been made a trip to this store for this latest project. They didn't have enough of our floor in stock so they ordered it from another store. It was there within 3 days and when we went to pick it up they helped load it in to our truck even though it was snowing and freezing cold outside. Bill was amazing when we had questions about our shower project. Today we sat in on his flooring class (highly recommend these classes for first timers) and he answered every question we had and was a plethora of knowledge. He was friendly, caring and absolutely genuine and sincere. I even remark to my husband every time we go there that the floor staff are friendlier than the front end customer service/cashier staff. Nothing wrong with them, but in comparison they just don't stand out. I am sure we will be back many more times for this project and the long list of other projects we will be doing. What a great place! Huge selection with very knowledgeable people. We are building a house and are tiling 3 baths, a foyer, two landings and 2 laundry rooms. Bill (assistant dept manager) is a wealth of knowledge. Ask him anything and he'll guide you down the best course to accomplish your project goals. I stop in at least 3-4 times a week and they're always ready and willing help. Amy, Kelly, and Millesia thank you for your endless amount of support!! All the Purchases and the returns. They make it so easy since the store keeps all purchases in the system, if you misplaced your receipt they can look it up! No hassle returns. And if you have a big purchase they'll pull it for you and let you pick it up within2 weeks time. Just drive around back with your receipt and Dan will load it up. He was super helpful in this area. The manager Brian and sales associate Jackie were very helpful in obtaining the rest of a particular order. In fact since the Lombard store did not have what was needed, Brian drove to the Skokie store to get it. This place is so Fab! I found out about this place from a Craigslist advertisement for 0.99 sq ft glass backsplash in 2012 which goes great in rentals. They have classes and a price range for every budget. Everyone is knowledgeable and helpful. However Bill the department manager is the best. Bill is patient and explains everything thoroughly. I had a question about some exterior stones and he told me what to do and what to purchase to resolve the issue which required sealing of the bricks. He also teaches the classes. Can't go wrong with shopping here. These place is for all budgets with a huge selection of products. read more

This is a great store with a wonderful selection at reasonable prices. Last year we needed to purchase laminate flooring for a room we were remodeling and we couldn't find anything that we liked that would be delivered on time (we had a deadline). We took the drive to Floor & Decor and there was so much to choose from and plenty of inventory. This year we are remodeling our bathroom and completely gutting it out. So we decided to go to Floor and Decor and buy the wall and floor tiles. In no time we found what we liked. While there, a class on how to tile was being taught by a gentleman named Bill and I am so glad we sat in on the class. We learned a lot, asked questions and made a much wiser decision on what type of floor to use in our bathroom. All thanks to the professional, kind and helpful attitude of Bill. It is so hard these days to find a store with wonderful customer service and that is exactly what you will find at Floor & Decor. Floor & Decor is the place to go to start any of your tiling projects. They have the largest selection of tiles of any place that I've ever seen! Tile Shop and Tile Outlet eat your heart out! I found Carrera marble tile for fairly good prices, even though it is usually expensive in general. They had quite the selection and excellent prices. The one thing that I don't like at this place is the long-ass lines when it comes to checking out. The reason for this is that customers are returning their remnant leftover tile pieces they bring from their home projects. It's fine that they do that, but they should have a dedicated area for Customer Service instead of the standard checkout lanes. The cashiers are constantly changing, so there is quite the revolving door employment there. Again, those lines can be horrendously long with 1 or 2 representatives there. For a place like this with lots of inventory and selections, you'd expect it to have a better checkout process. Overall I am satisfied with my tile purchase only :) read more

I had terrible service here. I would rather spend my money with a company that is more accommodating even if I pay a little more.

I would not give them even one star but you don't have that option. Customer's Service is the worst. I came there to pick up my tiles for bathroom project, that my wife previously chose. I had sku numbers and names of the tiles. For 10 minutes I was standing next to the tiles that my wife chose and not even one person came to me and ask if they could help me with anything. Than I went to get there someone and this person was clueless, he couldn't find something that I got on the paper. After asking two other persons we finally found all tiles that I needed. I asked them to pack everything for me and I went to pay. Lady at the cash register told me that it will take them up to an hour. When I came back after that time I went to the store to check if my stuff is ready, nobody was able to answer. I went on the back of the store where most of my tiles where and some guy was starting to pack my tiles.... after an hour!!! I was so mad that I took 50% of my tiles and pack them all by myself and told to manager that I will be back for the rest next day. Some guy helped me to put everything inside the car but he was smelling alcohol a lot. Today I came to pick up the rest of it and it wasn't ready. So I went to get the rest all by myself and check out. When I was leaving the store, this same manager stopped me and asked my why I'm leaving store without paying for it. I sad that it was paid yesterday and he went to check it. After another 15 min, he came back and said that everything is ok but I can not pick tiles all by myself since my pallet was prepared for me already. I was furious.... at the store when I came nobody knew anything about my pallet with tiles and after 2 hours he said that it was ready! I took my tiles and left the store. This will be my last visit there. People there do not know anything, they are not helping anyone, and manager is not able to help either, he is rude and choose to chat wit ladies than to check what is going on at his own store. My brother and I went to the tile class on Saturday afternoon at the Lombard store, Bill the instructor was AWESOME!!! By the time we left we felt confident to do my bathroom tile. We did the tub walls and ceiling and the bathroom floor. We had a couple questions during the project, we called Floor & Decor and Bill helped us over the phone. I bought travertine tile, and all the other things I needed there, the prices are really good compared to other tile places. I am VERY happy with Floor and Decor and my new bathroom! I went to the floor and decor location in countryside to purchase some laminate flooring for my home. I narrowed my options down to 2 styles, and eventually selected an antique cherry that happened to be on clearance. It was installed and looks great. I had two boxes of flooring leftover that I would return and get some money back, or so I thought. Prior to driving to the store in countryside I called them, just to make sure there would be no surprises. Long story short, I was told because the laminate was on clearance I couldn't get my money back. I had an issue with that, primarily because it really didn't dawn on me that I wouldn't be able to return the laminate because it was on clearance, and no one verbally informed me of that, which would have certainly effected my decision to purchase that flooring. After talking at length to Tatiana and asking to speak to a manager, I was told nothing could be done. I was annoyed. Tatiana offered that I could try the lombard store to see what they could do. I asked if she could call them and confirm that was an option, she did, shawn the manager said I could get a credit. Fine. Better than nothing. Went to the lombard store, wandered over to the laminate section where I ran into Bill. Gave him the whole story; assured me it would work out. We then go talk to Luke. Gave the same story. Luke and Bill grabbed the tile from my car, checked the system to ensure the details of my purchase, then gave me my money back. They had plenty of that particular laminate in stock and so could eventually resell it. I thanked them profusely and assured them I will come to their location next time. No disrespect to the countryside store, the policy is the policy, but great customer service is worth a $70 credit. read more

We have spent quite a bit of time at Floor and Decor lately trying to find the right tile for our shower and bathroom floor. There was an employee there that was just awesome! Janese was so helpful! She worked with me on two different occasions and was always patient and willing to answer the multiple questions I had. She could tell us everything we needed to know about sealing tile, choosing grout and finding the right joint size for the project we were completing. On my most recent visit I watched some of the other employees (3 twenty-somethings) sit in an aisle for over 45 minutes and not help anybody! (hence the 4 star rating instead of 5--what's with that, managers?!) Janese simply continued to do her work and check in with customers. She is an awesome employee and an asset to F&D! read more

Over the past 6 months i have spent between $3500-4000 at this location while remodeling my home. As instructed by the person selling me the tile i bought a few extra boxes for waste and miscuts. Obviously a whole home renovation took me quite a while to complete. Today i went to the store to return my excess tile that had not been open or used and they would not give me a refund or even a credit. This was due to it taking over 90 days to complete my project. If you sales associates are trained to sell you extra in case you need it and tell you to just bring it back if you have extra they should also inform you of there strict return policy. Now i am stuck with several boxes of unopened tile which makes up any and all cost savings of going here in the first place. Dont get me wrong there selection is great and they have a good product but customer service is terrible. The Store manager couldn't even be bothered to speak with me about the issue, even though there corporate number advised me to talk to Chris and he would make an exception for me since it is a high volume item. Called corporate back and they advised me to just try returning to another location and that it was only right for them to take it back. DOESNT CORPORATE HAVE CONTROL of your stores. I will never be shopping there again if they don't adress this issue. read more

I continue to be amazed by this place! OK - in all of my years of shopping, I've never had this happen... I purchased several items for my master bath. I got 2 tubs of premixed mud, 2 bags of grout, 2 flexible mixing solutions. My contractor ended up purchasing the materials already, so I returned the items a few days later. Unfortunately, the clerk charged me for an additional tub of mud. I had no way to prove that I did not purchase the item when I returned to the store. The manager came to speak with me and he said "the only way I could tell what you purchased that day is if I reviewed surveillance video from the checkout to see what you left with". He then said, "Would you like me to do that?" I answered "Of course!" about 5 minutes later he returned and said, "Sure enough, the clerk over charged you. Our apologies" and immediately refunded the amount. This is as good as it gets! Of course, it would have been better if the clerk hadn't over charged me in the first place, but accidents happen. Thank you to the Assistant Store Manager for making it right ($65 right!) I wish I had started my tile search at Floor & Decor! The selection and quality are unbeatable! Thank you! Kate T. read more

Don't bother. Staff is rude and clueless. Went there three times and was never asked once if I needed assistance. Finally decided on my tile. Wrote the SKU# and name of tile down AND took a pic of it. The tile was featured on one of their big displays. Just called and gave the SKU# and name to make sure that they had the amount I needed before going to purchase it. They put me on hold to check, then I was told " I checked with my manager and we have not sold this product in 1 1/2 years ". Pretty condescending. I told them I was just there last week, that's how I have the information and saw boxes of the tile. The sales person repeated, pretty rudely, what the manager told him. Sooo, if you have not sold this product in 1 1/2 years then WHY is it featured on a display? Maybe the SKU# is wrong on the display, the sales associated never offered to TRY to see where the confusion may be since I WAS JUST THERE LAST WEEK!!! He said he couldn't find it. I can assure you that he didn't even try as I was put on hold for only a minute. I can guarantee that if he walked his lazy butt over to the travertine tile and looked for it by name, he would have found it. I wish that I had taken note of the person's name. HORRIBLE!!! I will go to another tile store and gladly pay a little more for better customer service. Product is sub par anyway. read more

If you are shopping in a Floor and Decor store and they have what you need they are great. However, I needed some tiles to complete a project and my local store was out of the tile and it had been discontinued. No help in the store so I ordered it on my phone while standing in the store aisles. I confirmed my order by phone when I got to my car and was told I would have my tile within 5 days, it was being shipped from a store in Hialeah, FL. After 7 days I called and found out that they never filled the order and were now sold out of that tile. The customer service department found the tile in Lombard, IL and told me, again, that it would be shipped by 2 day express. Five days later I called the customer service and was told that FedEx had my order. Called FedEx. They were never contacted to pick up the order. Called the Lombard store - order was never filled and they were now out of the tile. Now customer service has located the tile in Fullerton, CA. That was after a total of at least 5 hours on the phone. I don't have the tile yet and I am beginning to resign myself to the fact that I will probably never get it. Their in-store inventory and in-store service is great but this level of unreliability is simply not ok. read more
