I had ordered a custom sized dress online that ended up being too large around the bust and waist area. I could literally put on and take off the dress with it fully zipped. The wedding I was planning to wear the dress for was in less than a week and I knew I needed to find someone who could provide efficient and affordable alterations. I was lucky to find Doña Flor online and I could tell right away that she was experienced in her craft. She works out of her home and has all the tools and materials needed. She was attentive to my request/needs and gave me honest feedback. I was impressed with her precision. She finished my dress the very same day for a very reasonable price! Friendly, fast, cheap family shop. Dona was even able to eyeball my tailoring of my waist without me trying it on and got it right, showing she's been doing this for a long time. This is definitely a place for quick fixes and simple tailoring. She took my expensive jeans in at the waist with some super simple stitch work and left the jeans in tact (no cutting) so that I can always undo the tailoring if I need to in the future. Not the prettiest of tailoring but she got the jeans to actually fit me so that I can actually wear them! I'm sure if I wanted them to, they would've cut it and spent more time, but I was there for 15mins and it cost me $20 so I'm 100% happy. read more

i went to her to get the waistband on a pair of shorts taken in and left with the shorts worse off (pics attached). i requested a refund but was told i could only be refunded in cash and in person, even though i paid through venmo, do not wish to return to her shop, or have the time to. i have yet to receive a response requesting my refund electronically. while she was nice during the service and worked fast, i have been made to feel as if i'm inconveniencing her when it was my time and money that was wasted. i ended up taking the shorts to a different tailor, which cost even more money. *update*: i was refunded. the shorts fit perfectly it was the execution that i did not like read more

She was very helpful with getting the correct length on my pants since I was getting them hemmed. She will collaborate in what direction to go with your alteration. Which is awesome some shops will just do what they think is fit or to their taste. I've gone to her now A total of five times to trim dresses with difficult fabrics. I will tell you I can sew myself. I have a great sewing machine and a serger with cutting capabilities. These are the fabrics I find very difficult to work with, and probably take months. Miss Laura charges a decent price for alterations and can get them back to you in a timely fashion.

This has been my tailor for over 7 years she is the best, she's done nothing but make miracles happen. She values your clothing yes, she's not lazy shes a tailor you won't meet probably ever with same day doing and same day pick up she's awesome. I would highly recomend her. The prices she has are prices you wouldnt find anywhere else I promise she did all my military patches when I was a Seabee and let me tell you she's a wonderful friend and person as well so if your looking for SAME DAY SERVICE! this is the woman to go to don't try to stretch a penny on her what people would pay 50$ at a tailor shop she'll charge half or less! You are not going to find any better alterations in San Diego. I brought in 3 pairs of pants, 1 pair of heavy ounce twill, 2 pairs of performance fabric blends. I called in on Memorial Day morning and showed up before afternoon the very same day. She first had me try on each pair and decide the length I wanted for each since I came in without a marker on any. After marking she went straight to work and would come back to me in a few minutes ready to work on the next pair. You can tell very few are able to match the same quality, expertise, and care she provides when working with you. She very much treats you as family and expresses that the moment you step foot into her workshop. The three pairs of pants ended up costing me $50, more than reasonable considering the one pair I had brought it were thicker than most jeans on the market today. If we combine that with the fact I went in on a holiday with no reservation and got all my clothing back the same day, this is a service with unmatched value. I highly recommend giving this place your upmost consideration when searching for alterations in San Diego as I can assure you there is no better place than here. read more

Flora did such an amazing job on my prom dress. It took me a while to find her but that's because I'm not used to the area. She has parking in the back of the house through the alley! I had to wait a second for her to finish up the people in front of me which was not a problem. I told her I wanted the waist taken in and she literally grabbed the fabric once and went "take it off." She finished in about 15 minutes and it was perfect and exactly what I wanted. It was 30 bucks which is great compared to other tailors. I would definitely go back to her if I need anything else altered and I'm definitely recommending her to my friends because Flora does not bullshit around and gets to business. There is a bit of a language barrier if you don't know Spanish but she still was able to help me and do exactly what I wanted. read more

Dona Flor altered and hemmed +10 clothing items on the spot (at her request, I offered to comeback another day!). She made sure everything fit and was to my satisfaction while also making suggestions based on fabric, fit & how the items were to be worn. I had a variety of items from dresses & pants. Some of the items had lining. She made suggestions based on style of shoes items were going to be worn as that would change the alteration. Very knowledgeable and quality work for hems. Same day and within less than hour. I called the day before and she said I could come in right away but I couldn't so she said to come first thing In the morning which I did and she fixed my sons baseball pants and some adult pants for myself. I was literally in and out within 25 min. I highly recommend if you're looking for someone who is available on the spot. She is so sweet and amazing customer service. Amazing price, fast and efficient work! I could not have found a more perfect person to do the work on my prom dress! Definitely recommend! I wanted to alter my prom dress by removing the train and fixing a loop on the corset, I called Floras alterations and she was available to take my dress within an hour of me calling. Once I put the dress on, she trimmed off the perfect amount and checked with me multiple times if there was anything else that I wanted or needed. It was a little tricky to find but if you go around to the back alley it's easily accessible! It's a woman & her family operating on their back patio but their service was amazing! All very friendly & got it done for me in less than 10 min! I needed a dress taken in. She had me try it on, told her what I wanted & she was able to do it right then & there & for only $15! I showed up at 9 pm after calling at 7pm asking last minute to cut a dress in half and turn it into a mini skirt for halloween. I called about having a pair of pants hemmed and Ms. Dona told me that she could do the job right away. She works at home which keeps the overhead, and hence prices down. She hemmed up the pants on the spot in about twenty minutes and charged about 25% less than the competition. Fast, high quality service at a highly discounted, cash only rate.
