I initially had a positive experience and had one garment altered by Olga. The work on that item was good. However, after going to see her for the last few alterations appointments, I was repeatedly turned away saying she couldn't do a simple hem and waist adjustments to two skirts and a pair of pants. Then during one of the last appointments she kept saying how this isn't her main job and how she is frequently out of town and I'm confused as to why she is saying this stuff to me because she has two rooms dedicated to this business in her apartment and a website and enough yelp reviews where it appears to be a dedicated business. Also, during one of the appointments she flat out asked me, "doesn't the store or designer you bought this from do alterations for free?" And for that particular designer piece...I did confirm that they do free alterations but they do not have a local storefront on the west coast and I'm not flying out to NYC just to do alterations at their flagship store. To me, that question was rude. If there was a store nearby, of course I would take advantage of a free alterations service but again, I'm not flying to NYC to alter a single item. Furthermore, I'm bringing my business to YOU. You would think a business owner would be grateful for business. When I reached out again today to set up an appointment, I was ultimately told she had decided not to accept me as a client because she was not comfortable working on expensive clothing. I appreciate the honesty and would rather someone be upfront than take on work they aren't comfortable with. However, I wish this had been communicated earlier, as it would have saved both of us time after multiple attempts to schedule additional work. If you have higher-end designer clothing, it may be worth asking in advance whether those types of garments are within their preferred scope of work. I think it's interesting though that she does wedding dresses which are significantly more expensive than the items I brought in. P.S. After I pointed out via text message that she has worked on alterations for wedding dresses, which are often significantly more expensive than the designer clothing I brought in, she replied, 'You are right, accept my apologies." 6/26/26 update - After Olga's response below I wanted to add this: Thank you for your response. However, I do want to clarify that the last item I requested included a simple hem and a slight waist adjustment on a pair of pants (they were not expensive by the way, I can show you the receipt). You allowed me to return a few times to your apartment where you do fittings with 3 separate items wasting gas, time, and effort only to turn me away each time. That request contributed to my confusion about the explanation I received. I wish this had been communicated more clearly from the beginning so I could have found another alterations specialist sooner. Again, I want to repeat all of these items are significantly below the price of a wedding dress which you seem to alter quite often based on your reviews so your response stating you don't like to alter expensive items seems....far-fetched. read more

So wonderful. I have a stuffed animal that is probably 35+ years old from when I was a kid and my son loves him. Unfortunately the stuffing was all worn out. I called around and a few places wouldn't do it. I dropped him off with Olga and he was done in a day. That definitely helped with the timeline because my son didn't really like the idea of Pound Puppy being at the stuffy doctor for very long. All I have to say is Olga is AMAZING! Let me tell you, I have been on the hunt for a seamstress for a very long time. I have been to so many in San Diego and have not come across anyone like Olga. Her workshop (her home studio) was immaculate; clean, organized, and so professional. I had a dress that needed to be taken in for a wedding I had on Saturday. I took my dress to her on Tuesday morning and she had it ready by Wednesday evening! She also was so accommodating in arranging a pickup out of normal hours. When I went to pick up my dress, we found out I lost too much weight and the dress was sagging on me. With two weeks until my wedding I wasn't sure anything could be done. She works fast and doesn't charge an arm and leg for her services. My bridesmaids dress was too long and I needed it altered to be one inch off of the ground. My wedding dress was too small. It originally had buttons and a zipper on the back, but wouldn't close at all. Olga completely removed them and added a corset. I loved the way it turned out. It looked like my dress originally came with the corset. She completed both dresses in 3 days. She is a fast dedicated worker. My wedding dress cost $200 to be altered. Bridesmaid dress was $75. Everywhere else wanted to charge me more than $500 for both. You can't beat her prices! I strongly recommend her. You won't regret it. read more

Add the word "wedding" to anything and all of a sudden you're looking at a 400% markup. When looking for someone to do alterations on my wedding dress, I was definitely feeling discouraged. I bought my dress as a sample, but it fit perfectly outside of needing a hem and a bustle. When I called the shop recommended to me by the dress shop, they quoted me $850. Yikes! A few people in a San Diego wedding facebook group recommended Olga so I messaged her. Located in a gated community in Mission Valley, she operates out of her home garage that has been transformed into the ultimate seamstress station. She did a great job on my dress and for a quarter of the cost! I've taken a few other items to her as well and everything has come out perfectly. I have to say some of the items have been a bit complicated with their layers, but there's no challenge Olga can't take on. read more

I wish I could leave a better review. I brought my dress here and asked for the front and back to be made lower, as well as a simple hem. I was told there was nothing that could be done and even if it was possible, it wouldn't look good. The suggestion given to me was to call the bridal shop where I purchased the dress and try to exchange it for a different dress. I left in shock and called the bridal shop in disbelief and the owner told me that she would be happy to exchange the dress but that this advice was not right and that she knew for a fact that other brides who had purchased the same dress had done what I was looking to do and she advised me to go elsewhere. I took my dress to a different shop (Margaret's Couture Cleaners in Convoy) and they were able to do everything I wanted without issue and I am so happy with how my dress turned out! read more

Inquired about hemming an 89 dollar dress. Yes it's technically a wedding dress, but the dress itself is a lulus white dress that is less than 100 dollars. She gave me a quote of 300-750.. now I understand alteration is a skill set and we pay for quality. But I asked if this is still the going rate for this simple white dress that isn't even labeled as a "wedding dress".. instead of responding and explaining, she ignored me. If you don't want to take the job, it'd be nice to get a response vs just leaving me on "read". UPDATE to owners response below: I understand that you pay for the service, not the dress. But I also got quotes from other places that were not close to $350. Obviously, the actual dress has somewhat to deal with pricing.. if it's a huge dress that's multilayered etc.. it is going to cost more. Im 100% certain if the dress wasnt white, youd quote me less lol. . My main issue was you ignored me and only responded now because I posted a review of our interaction. This was also literally just a hemming. Pretty much seems like you're just upcharging due to me saying "wedding" vs the actual work and dress. Long story, but I found myself without a wedding dress 15 days before my wedding after the first one I bought fell through. I ended up purchasing a new one off the floor at a bridal salon (Prevue Bridal in La Mesa) and called Olga's praying that she could help me get it altered in time. Many other alterations places turned me away. Some even laughed lol After I reached out to Olga though she saw me the very next day and I was back for a final fitting the very next week (small fee for the rush)!
