Ugh. This is the closest diner to my dad's house so we end up coming here a lot. The food is good. The service is ridiculously uneven. Today we waited literally an hour to get served breakfast. Not waiting to be seated--in the booth, having placed an order, it just took an hour for 2 people's pancakes, 2 people's eggs, a bagel and a muffin to get made. The manager said "it's hard the day after a holiday--the kitchen is either understaffed or underperforming." If it were possible, I would give this diner no stars. I ordered a special cold brew coffee ( Oreo) . Tasted it when it arrived.. had my partner taste it . We both determined it had no coffee taste ( even after adding sweetener). I asked the waitress to take it back and bring me a plain cold brew coffee. Reluctantly, she did. When the check came, we were charged for 1/2 of the drink we had returned. Asking to speak to the owner, we were certain this was a mistake we were shocked when the owner insisted that since they had made the drink, we had to pay 1/2. Nothing is worse than a breakfast sandy that's 80% bread and 20% BEC. Well, FPD did NOT disappoint. After a night out, all I wanted the next morning to revive my soul was a turkey sausage EC sandy. You have the pot in your hand and my coffee is empty. At what restaurant do you not get service from the entire staff? Staff clearly only cares about their own tables and not the entire floor. Order food. I get my check given to me BEFORE I even receive the food like they want me to move out the door. At what restaurant do they drop the check BEFORE you get to eat? The talking behind the counter between 2 people at the register was absolutely nauseating. To the point where you want to say, "just shut the f up." They can talk about everything under the sun, but can't check on your food or coffee. Customer service here is a negative 10. They want to sip on their drinks, gossip about the world, take uber eats and door dash order and not even care one iota about their guests. Food is good diner food, but I'll never go back because they fail miserably at the most important aspect of working in a restaurant: customer service. I don't need to be coddled, I don't need a backrub and I don't need anybody to come out singing Wham, The Weekend or Dolly Parton word for word. Just get me my damn coffee, a smile gets you bonus points and please for all that is holy in the restaurant world, do a 2 minute, 2 bite check up. God forbid you ask for hot sauce or another cup of coffee. But don't worry, you'll be shown the door quickly by the check that's dropped to you BEFORE you even eat. Atmosphere: The Florham Park Diner is located in a small strip mall. It's not a standalone building, and it might be challenging to find if you aren't paying attention. The inside of the Florham Park Diner is clean and modern. You walk in next to a dessert case, and there are plenty of booths, tables, and a full-length bar. Coffee: The Florham Park Diner serves South Jersey local, Lacas Coffee! It's incredible to see Lacas coffee 90 minutes north. The coffee was brewed hot and fresh, and the waiter refilled it often. Food: The Florham Park Diner has everything a regular diner would have. There is all-day breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Even though it was dinner time when I was there, I decided to order the breakfast burger with waffle fries. The breakfast burger was massive and heavy. I felt like I was getting a workout just lifting the burger up! It was good and topped with an egg and pork roll. It could have used a sauce or something. I added waffle fries, which was tasty. Dessert: I decided to order a vanilla milkshake, and it was boring. It felt like a cup of vanilla ice cream. There was no whipped cream or cherry, and it was bland. It was edible but nothing unusual. I was hungry and this place looked good....homey, classic, old fashion. Well this place is quiet...I'm almost 50 years old and I was one of the younger patron. The meal came with salad and mash potatoes....no other veggies. I should have been concerned when I ordered, there was no other inquiry, like "how do I want it cooked ?"..... Kevin just walked away. The meal came out, the salad was good...beat part of meal....get the house vinegrette. OK...first the mash potatoes...no gravy, just the potatoes...I guess that is how they eat it in Florham Park...we will go native here. The potatoes taste like it's instant dehydrated potatoes. Yucky. No for the meat...will not even call it prime rib. First of...it looks gray...just like you would see if the meat was boiled. The meat was aged.... but not in a good way...the meat was old...it to had that slight gamey flavor you find with slightly older meats. Slightly chewy like you get from boiled beef. The au jus was more of a lite broth...lacking flavor. OK...the only green thing on the plate was the chopped parsley. No veggies, no bread, no roll and no butter....must think that young Asian men don't like those things. No one ever came back to check how I was doing until the brought me the check. I showed up at the counter...the Cashier tried to look busy to ignore me, so the other guy there had to help me. He took the bill and my credit card...swiped it and handed me the slips to sign...all without saying a word or inquiring how my meal went. We recently moved back to Morris County after 5 years living out of state. I feel compelled to write a quick review of Florham Park Diner because the same thing we remember from breakfasts years ago continues to render this place an OK rather than a great diner - namely the inconsistent service mentioned in other reviews. The management seems very friendly when you enter & a gracious hostess shows you to a table. From that point on you see any number of employees buzzing about, but when you do get a server and give your order, you may not see that person again for a long while as you sit hoping for a coffee refill. We've sometimes wondered if the servers are assigned tables, or if some of them just stake their claim on as many occupied tables as possible, thereby getting more tips, but being too stretched to provide adequate service. No idea - just a theory. But the experience with servers can be just fine, or can be pretty neglectful. If the table grabbing theory is correct, the situation might easily be improved by assigning servers to specific blocks of tables. read more

I would give more stars if they were listed as my dining experience was awesome!! Let me first start off by saying the service was A+. We were seated outside and given a menu to look over. My male server was so friendly and catered to our requests. I ordered antipasto salad and my date ordered stuffed peppers I don't know who the chef is but his cooking skills are superb!! My salad was delicious, freshly prepared and served with pita bread The stuffed pepper was served with mashed potatoes and tasted like some more!!! Side note, my date ordered creamed spinach soup which was two thumbs up good. And the fried chicken wings were crispy and hot!! This past weekend my boyfriend took me out for a quick bite to eat after my long work week to our local diner because I was craving a Greek salad. We have eaten here many times before being that we live in the area and have actually pre pandemic recommended this spot to family, friends, and co workers nearby. Unfortunately a few bites into my salad, I noticed a piece of hair embedded in the lettuce and dressing. When the waitress came over to see if we were ok and if we were done with our meal, I quietly mentioned that I was finished because I found a hair in my meal. I purposely whispered it so people around me wouldn't hear and have their appetite ruined. She had me remove the hair and put it to the side of the plate so she can show the manager. Shortly after she returned, she said she let the woman Vicki at the cashier know so she can "maybe" deduct my meal from the bill. When we went up to the counter, Vicki did not apologize, did not even mention that she knew hair was found in my meal, did not try to make our experience better by offering a new meal, a dessert, or even a coffee and tried to charge my boyfriend full price for the bill. So I did again mention that there was a hair in my meal when she defensively replied "well I don't know where that came from. It was a long hair" more or less from my impression trying to spin it on me like it was possibly mine (mind you my hair was up in a pony tail and no where near the length of mine) I was astounded by this poor professionalism and customer service that I unfortunately will not be returning. Although after I spoke up and i said I don't think I should be paying for a meal I barely ate, she still did charge me for the chicken in my salad and did not in anyway try to make it right by offering me anything else not even an apology! I am not from the immediate area but have been to this fine diner a few times, today being another (as friends are near by). It's a very clean, comfortable and well kept place, as well as a popular spot. It had a very busy breakfast crowd, but being there btwn meals, it was starting to empty out at 11:30 am. The hostess was very attentive and we were able to get a booth quickly. The menu was extensive. Though still busy upon sitting, it wasn't overly noisy. Our waiter was very congenial, attentive, fast and on spot. Our orders arrived in a very reasonable time (Surprising for the employment shortage still going on). I had a short stack of pancakes that were perfect. Friends had a muffin, meatloaf sandwich, and turkey burger. My food was perfect and no complaints from them about their meals either. Rest rooms well maintained, clean and rather updated in style. All the staff members were kind in wearing their masks, and properly too. The over all experience was pleasurable. The Historical Society of Florham Park was looking to get together for an in-person lunch/meeting having missed the last two years of doing so due to COVID-19. Indeed, most of our meetings and our Historical presentations were coordinated and held via Zoom. So, we weren't sure how many in our membership would chance getting together in person. The Florham Park DINER was the perfect place. They have a separate large room in the back of the Diner which could easily accommodate 25 guests for lunch, and at a fair price. We gave our members five menu options. I selected the Turkey platter and was very happy with it as were all the other members who chose the same. Another favorite dish was Fish and Chips. The waitress did a great job serving our selections and then Vicki, an owner (it's a family operated establishment), came in to check on us. We will be back again! read more

We went for our final covid vaccination yesterday 5/19/2021 and then decided to tr y this diner. We do not live in the area and something new is always a great treat. The waiter was pleasant and the order came out as ordered. BUT......my tuna melt was absolutely disgusting. The rye bread was toasted but so soggy that it was an issue. Tomatoes were not grilled and just thrown on the top of the flavorless tuna. Best part about that meal was the well done fries. Waiter dropped off our food and came back when our forks were on the plates. I ate 1/4 of my meal but could not handle the gross tuna and soggy bread. The waiter asked if we wanted another drink and we asked for the check. He never came over to see if everything was ok prior to this. Gave him a 15% tip because at least the fries were edible. Usually like breakfast here, but our visit on 3/9 was not the best. Milene, our waitress did not seem focused. I wanted cheese in my scrambled eggs. She rattled off the usual cheddar, feta, etc. I noted the menu also listed Jack cheese, which I ordered along with a side of sausage and grits. It came with cheddar, not Jack and the sausage was missing. She them said I never ordered sausage, but my hubby how heard my order said I certainly had ordered it. It took a while, but it came. Now the grits - watery, poured on the plate, not in bowl and no spoon. Like you can eat watery grits with a fork? I had to ask the manager for the spoons we needed, but the grits were inedible. I should have complained, but i just wanted the check and too leave. I left have the eggs and most of the grits. I just had a very mediocre dinner there , which i left in the middle of because of an argument with the manager/chef.. they have two choices of Turkey dinner. One is regular turkey dinner which says it comes with yellow gravy , which i hate ... it looks like someone sneezed it out ... the other is called Holiday Turkey Dinner , which comes with GIBLET GRAVY ... i chose that one .. my dinner arrived with that gross yellow gravy on it ... i told the waitress, and she said that's what it always comes with.. then she sent this Arrogant argumentative man to my table ... I explained my problem and he said that my gravy was giblet ... now i make giblet gravy and it isn't the color of nasal excretion ... i said it's not giblet , it's yellow .. he said even if he served giblet gravy , most people would send it back, because they wouldn't know what it was. So right there , I'm dealing with an arrogant , obnoxious know it all liar ... so i got up , left my dinner on the table and went to pay the cashier , who happened to be an owner ... i told him my story , he agreed with his arrogant liar , claiming his gross yellow nasal waste was giblet ... it's apparent that these people don't care about their customers, or they would have had even an ounce of consideration for my issue ... i said i will never be back , they said they don't want me back if i make such a big deal put of gravy ... the bottom line is they shouldn't bait and switch you , like most con artists do .. i do not recommend this dinner to anyone! The food was your basic diner food, good eggs, good home fries. The other dishes at surrounding tables looked good as well, and the desserts were your typical diner fare. Heard a couple of the waitstaff being snippy with customers, which is kind of a bummer. It wasn't good-natured banter, but just very impatient responses. Went out for lunch around 12 and was looking for something light. Tried the California Omelette with avocados, tomatoes and cheddar with home fries and toast. Of course, the toast was amazing but the home fries lacked flavor or salt of any kind and the omelette was more like scrambled eggs. I've only had breakfast here so this review is based on breakfast only. It's always good - standard diner food for the most part, but done well. Someone in the kitchen knows how to make an omelet! I usually get the Western and my friend always gets the Florentine (spinach). Normally I can't finish a three egg omelet, but I can here. You have a choice of home fries or grits to go with the eggs. Not an expert on grits, but it's nice for a change. Pancakes and waffles are also good quality. Fruity tootie waffle is great - tons of fruit! If I came for lunch I don't know how I'd ever decide what to have because there are so many choices. I saw someone with a turkey club and it sure looked good. I stopped into the Florham Park Diner for a team breakfast with coworkers. I ordered the buttermilk pancakes special. The pancakes were excellent and fluffy. It came with a side of meat. Of course, I went with the Taylor ham! One thing my party found confusing was the listing of meat that came as a side. It wasn't clear if you got Taylor ham, sausage, and bacon or a choice of those things. This was particularly a question when it came to the hungry man breakfast. The service was excellent.
