Very nice staff, I got the fried green tomato BLT and it was really good. Very unique and the tomato's were perfectly fried. Atmosphere is chill and I can tell it's a local favorite. We went after we visited the fort and it very much cured my hunger. The pasta salad was pretty standard but their potato salad has bacon in it and is also very good. Great and friendly service, food came out within a timely manner, and they offer indoor and outdoor seating. They're also dog friendly. All food was pretty good. But the best dishes we got was the Ceasar salad and the cornbread. The cornbread was so moist and the butter just makes it 10x better. You can't find cornbread like this anywhere else. That dish is great anytime of the day! Staff wears masks due to Covid but it seems like they don't limit capacity or social distance with seating. They have a gluten-free menu, and a dairy free menu, and a kids menu. The honey glazed shrimp on cheesy grits appetizer is delectable. Stumbled upon this Florida Cracker as I was walking aimlessly around DT looking for a decent place to eat. It did not disappoint. First impressions: we were seated quickly, service was prompt, everything looked clean. The decor felt a little like walking into a restaurant in the Florida keys. I was not sure what to expect on the menu but they had a good variety of items from chicken tenders for the kids and fresh fish for the adults. I ordered the red drum fish they had as a daily special, which came with coleslaw and fries, and it was fantastic. I also had a cup of their New England clam chowder that was amazing on a very cold night. Seek them out if you are ever in the area. I know I would return. read more

We moved away and came back to visit, and I noticed that the menu has actually changed a LOT since we last ate here. We had a great experience this time as usual, normal portion sizes (not too small, not too much) but the food is genuinely good. The customer service is outstanding. My husband and I both enjoyed fried green tomato BLT sandwiches. We ended up asking for some ranch to put on top instead of mayo, it was a great combination! The bacon was super thick and cooked to perfection. We also ordered the gator bites for an appetizer, which were surprisingly tender and tasty. There was a good amount of meat in them. Serving size is 7 Oz I believe. Our son got a grilled cheese, which had real cheese on it, not the fake stuff! My husband and I also got a slice of key lime pie, while it's not the best I've ever had, (I like Kermit's IN Key West), it was still legitimate key lime pie, and it was still good! I have no complaints. With lightning fast service, Florida Cracker is a GREAT place to grab lunch! read more

I was a little shocked to see this place with only 3 1/2 stars. I am a Jax native, but haven't been to this place that I can remember. We were just walking around St George with our kids (3 & 5) and mostly stopped because of the hostess saying hello to people and handing out menus. They had several kids items, so we went in. We ate inside. The tables were mostly full, but it was very nice out today so a lot of people were opting to eat outside. We were greeted right away by Nash and he quickly took our drink orders. Besides the great, quick service he provided...he was also very friendly with our kids. I have rather independent kids, so when he asked them directly for their orders...it was appreciated and they got a kick out of it. Our food...it was actually pretty freaking amazing. The kids were pretty basic with their PB&J and Grilled cheese, but I liked they had a fruit option and not just fries. I ordered the Cheesesteak with fries and cucumber salad. The sides were perfect (not too large size) and the cheesesteak...oh wow. The veggies were grilled to perfection, the steak was tender and great quality and the bun was toasted. Can you tell I am re-living the deliciousness as I write this review? Haha. My husband got the Blackened shrimp with grits. It also comes with two sides so he got fries and a side Cesar salad. He isn't a southern boy, so I was shocked he ordered it...but he wouldn't shut up about how great the grits were, so I finally tried them. He was right...grits done great! I've been here several times in the past and their menu was always diverse. Today we stopped and the menu was dismal at best. There was fish, fish and more fish. One burger option and a turkey sandwich option. Oh and Buffalo chicken wings. We had ordered drinks already so we politely explained there wasn't anything I could eat on the menu and we had to leave. $13 for 3 drinks. A soda, and two Arnold palmers. All drinks that come from a soda gun and cost *maybe* $2 for them. THIRTEEN DOLLARS FOR 3 sodas. I'm highly disappointed because I know they're locals and I support my local businesses. However, I won't be returning. I understand the cost for people getting refills repeatedly. But considering we took them to go, we shouldn't have been charged that much. Forgive me, it was $11, and we gave her a $2 tip for her trouble and loss of table. The menu prices were quite high for what they offer, but $11 for 3 soda gun drinks, I just can't justify that price. read more

Wow! Food was delicious! I had the gator tail, fried green tomatoes and a cobb salad to keep it healthy... Hands down the best gator I have eaten. The wait times was perfect. We had our drinks on the table in a couple of minutes. Appetizers came out quickly. We ate at our leisure. We were not rushed. A few minutes after finished our appetizers the entrees were being served. Nash, the waiter, was awesome. The kid could have sold me the store if he wanted to. He was nice and attentive. No need for us to ask for the refills he was on it. I really enjoy a waiter that can have a little chat with the customers without neglecting the other tables. Thanks Nash. I tried fried twinkies for the first time. Very happy I ate the salad cause those twinkies can not be healthy but by God they if I am going to die this is the way I would like to go. I really enjoyed my lunch here. The beer was priced well and the food was really good. I like the options you have for your sides with lunch. I choose cucumber salad and they give you a macaroni/pasta salad as one of your sides already. I got the cheeseburger and it was delicious! For a appetizer we got fried green tomatoes and crab balls and wow some of the best I've had. The fried tomatoes reminded me of what I make at home. My husband and I grabbed lunch here after touring the fort. We sat outside since the inside was slammed and wanted quiet. The patio was large and picnic tables under grass umbrellas provided shelter from the winds and light sprinkle. The hostess was really friendly as she showed us to our table and helped with our stroller. The waitress was a bit short when she took our drink order but with the number of people that sat down within 10 mins, I could see she was stressed. We ordered a side salad, gator tail, a turkey club and crab cake sandwich. The salad was basic with carrots, sprouts, tomatoes, croutons, cucumbers, red onion and choice of dressing. Next came our mains and I asked about the gator tail app, which was taken to another table by the bus girl. I believe the manager delivered the order and apologized a bunch but it wasn't a big deal at all. We dug in and everything was really good! The gator tail had a little kick to it in the breading which was nice. I really liked that the turkey club had avocado and toasted bread. The crab cake sandwich was lite and great flavor. My son's Corn Dog was, well .. a Corn Dog, but he loved it and actually ate his lunch for once. The fries were also great! I would definitely recommend this Cafe. So, I was extremely relieved when this restaurant turned out to be as it appeared.
