I reviewed this location under the hotel previously. I am not sure where they get their Salmon, however, it is divine. I get the dill sauce on the side and order it lightly blackened. The dish comes with salad and bread on a bed of rice and veggies .This little diamond in the rough is worth a try. Beautiful building in a relaxing setting and amazing Salmon. For the $14.00 price tag you will leave feeling like your money was well spent. read more

4.5 stars is about right for this restaurant. I would have client power lunch or dinner here. It is because of the beautiful interior decoration. Great blinds curtains. Many crystal chandelier hang from ceilings. That is the reason they call this place Crystal Dining Room. One thing is they lack of service people die to lack of customer. However, food is good in compare to many place and the price is good for the food and ambience. I would host the wedding reception here. We have the New York Strip au Poivre. The steak is big enough and the sauce is great. The accompanying potatoes and asparagus was great. We also has the grilled salmon bed with rice, top with mango salsa. All the dish is great. The chef has great skill. All entree come with salad. I also like their dark n stormy cocktails. read more

A formal dining experience in the gorgeous dining room of the Floridan Hotel. The hotel has been impeccably restored with gold gilded wainscoting and panels from floor to vaulted ceiling where grand crystal chandeliers hang every few feet. The dining room is a piece of artwork like a painting from the Renaissance period. The chef prepared and presented delicious entrées which were served by a semi-professional server. I loved my crab cakes - some or the best I've had with more meat than filler and the most light and crispy breaded shell. It was nice having the dining room to ourselves and at the same time eerily lonesome. It was a Friday night and we were the only ones in the grand dining room. It made me concerned about the freshness of the food, but that was quelled when I received my tasty crab cakes. They've invested so much in restoring this historic landmark; I hope they can do the same with marketing and bringing this hotel and restaurant the attention it deserves. read more

I heard this place was a hidden gem. Folks, this restaurant is just that. The food and value for the price is incredible. I honestly felt like I was in the formal dining room on a cruise. Linen tablecloths, fine china and the amazing ambiance is a real treat. I ordered a filet mignon for 28 bucks, came with a salad and fantastic vegetables. Just try that anywhere else in town. Order the octopus appetizer, you'll thank me later. I'll be back and looking forward to seeing the great staff that seemed more like a family than coworkers. read more

I had eaten here years before and decided this would be perfect for my wedding anniversary at lunch. There was a special menu because it is Valentine's Day. The hotel is a beautiful historic hotel built in 1926 with crystal chandeliers showcasing a grand lobby. You enter via Cass street and climb the stairs to enter the lobby, then go up some more stairs to the dining area. I did see an elevator so it must be handicapped accessible. This building was added to the national register of historic places but soon fell into disarray and was set to be demolished. However, a new owner restored it and it is beautiful. I would recommend all tourists at least stop in to see its beauty and then if you aren't hungry, have coffee and dessert! The Crystal Dining room has gold gild along the walls and a hand painted ceiling. The ceiling is flower buds with pink centers and I noticed what looked like pastel colored eggs along the sides; there are also hand painted cherubs. Now to the food - since it was a special menu, I selected the salmon with the dill butter sauce. It was melt in your mouth! My husband had the seafood medley with the best grilled shimp, along with scallops, clams and mussels served over fettuccine with a creamy garlic sauce. Prior to our entrees, we received fresh, crisp, cold salads and nice dinner rolls with great texture. For dessert I chose the flourless chocolate cake and my husband got strawberry cheesecake. Both were delicious also. There were lovely chocolate and strawberry flourished bakery hearts around each dessert for presentation. Service was impeccable. We were greeted promptly and offered the wine list. I chose a German Riesling and it paired wonderfully with my salmon. read more

I just had the BEST $20 (including a $4 tip) lunch in my life, and it's been a nice length of life so far. Their chicken souvlaki was perfectly done, and their French fries are amazing. Grouper sandwich was superb, salads were divine, desserts were delicious. And, the service was fantastic as well. I can't stop raving about this food. It's a Must Try if you visit downtown Tampa! I didn't stay at the hotel; I only ate at the restaurant. The best thing to say about the restaurant was that the food was cheaper than you would expect, given the atmosphere. Also, they had a vegetarian option. Overall, though, I think the food was only mediocre, and my side of fries was a little disappointing. While I was there, I got a little history lesson. Evidently the place has been fully refurbished and had sat vacant for a long time. If I remember correctly, a lot of the refurbishing was done to make it look like the old place. read more

I concur with some of the other reviews that hold the menu a little weak. However, I have to say that I found the overall experience to be very good. The menu features a variety of Greek inspired dishes, seafood representative of the local fare, small plates, salads and soups, tempting Greek inspired appetizers and desserts, and historic cocktails from the hotels heyday. There is also a decent selection of wines and other cocktails. I wouldn't say that the menu is uninspired, as some other reviewers have. We ordered a cheese appetizer that was flamed with Brandy. It was delicious. Linse had a grapefruit version of Hemingway's daiquiri and I ordered a classic hotel cocktail called "Between the Sheets", which was fantastic. The house salads are good but had too much of the tasty house dressing. Linse ordered the spanakopita. It was a large portion and very good, although the baked potato and veggies wasn't the best option for a side. I had Shrimp a la Floridan, which was a baked combination of shrimp, onions, artichokes, mushrooms, peas, feta cheese, and shrimp - a hotel classic dish that featured both seafood and Greek inspiration. It was delicious. Top of this, our server did a great job. Admittedly, her job was easy since we were the only ones in the dining room. We had an early dinner in order to catch a concert. She was polite, attentive and very knowledgeable about the hotel and the menu. Finally, the ambience made us feel like we were back in the 1930s. The large windows, artistic ceiling, chandeliers, oversized leather chairs - all provided an atmosphere that is different from the everyday experience. If you dying here, ask for a print out of the history of the hotel. Part of any good dining experience is understanding where you are in time and place. read more

We ate at this restaurant prior to going to see a show at the Straz. It was amazing! The service provided by Ria A and the food was great!! I would highly recommend this restaurant as it is priced modestly and is in walking distance from the theater. The manager came by and we had to tell her how beautiful the restaurant was as well as the food and service were equally as wonderful. This is truly a diamond in downtown Tampa that was brought back to from the early 1920s. We will be back with more friends and family, don't miss this gem! read more

We had dinner here recently, and I have to say that I was impressed. I was expecting very bland food, but the Greek inspired dishes (the ribeye) were all excellent. Service was also attentive without being annoying - a hard balance to strike. read more

I like the History and the aged buildings of early Florida, Tampa Bay.The food was OK, the sandwhiches good.

We both live locally and stopped in Friday evening for my birthday dinner. The Floridan Facebook page announced the same week the arrival of your new beautifully bound menus. Since it was not possible to read the menu on-line, I jumped on my bike and pedaled the 2 miles to the Floridan. The hostess commented that since the restaurant is still doing a "soft opening" the menu is not available on-line, yet. We arrived for dinner at our appointed reservation time of 8pm and were promptly seated. I ordered a Hendricks martini with a twist. It took 15 minutes to get my cocktail because our server dropped the first one while walking up the stairs. We started with the jumbo shrimp cocktail and saganaki appetizers. We received nice looking jumbo shrimps that turned out to be mushy with an extremely salty cocktail sauce. The saganaki was uneventful. We received a bread basket prior to the arrival of the appetizers. The basket contained three small warm dinner rolls and was served with near frozen pats of butter. I ordered a cup of the lobster bisque to be brought with the appetizers. However, 15 minutes after taking our order, our server came out and said they had just run out of lobster bisque. How do you run out of lobster bisque at 815 on a Friday? For our entrées we ordered a New York strip (med rare) and Surf and Turf (med rare). Each entrée came with a dinner salad, veggie, and a choice of fries, a baked potato, or rice. We opted for fries and a fully loaded baked potato. Both salads were delivered promptly but were small and uneventful. One hour into our event/ordeal, our server came out and said our entrées would be delayed because the kitchen over cooked my filet. My girlfriend looked at me and said, "does this mean my steak is going to sit under a heat lamp while they cook you a new one?" Our entrees were finally served at 915pm. I can report that my girlfriend's steak was NOT sitting under a heat lamp, because her steak and green beans were COLD. My filet was lukewarm and cooked rare while my lobster tail and asparagus were COLD. The hottest item on either of our plates was my baked potato which was NOT served with butter. I asked to see the restaurant manager but was told she had left for the evening. So, 915pm on a Friday and the restaurant manager is no longer on the premises? I flagged down our server and said both our meals are cold. She new what to do and offered to have the kitchen prepare two new meals. I said, "no, were done please just remove the meals and bring our bill". At this point she became flustered as there was no restaurant manager to be found. It took her 15 minutes to bring our bill and in that time no one came over to inquire about our dreadful meal. I thought perhaps the chef might have made an appearance at this point. We were charged for drinks and appetizers which were fair, but I expected the entire bill to be comped. I did tip on the entire bill. We then walked over to the Fly Bar for dinner. Side note: as we were standing just outside the entrance deciding whether to drive or walk to the Fly Bar, another patron came outside and said he, too had just had a dreadful meal and was heading to the Fly Bar, too read more

I have visited twice. I had lunch in the bar because we arrivied when lunch service was ending in the dinning room. The seafood was very good. On 6-5-2016, we walked over after a sunday show at the Tampa Theater and had steak. My filet was perfect and tender. We asked for a replacement of an over cooked NY strip. Our server was very nice and had a perfect medium rare refire delivered in five minutes. We were very pleased and will soon return to what is one of Tampa's hidden gems. read more
