Not gonna lie, I cried a little over the Mac & cheese. Gluten free mac and cheese is an art and these folks are the finest of artisans. First time at Flower Child! Love the atmosphere, super cute place and all staff interactions were very positive and great service. We weren't sure what to get but decided on the Glow Bowl and the Tofu Entree with two sides. Also a refillable fountain drink. The Glow Bowl flavors were great. Super tasty, very yummy! Portions were a little on the small side but still very yummy. The Entree was good, the tofu didn't have a lot of flavor added, so it fell a little flat for us. The Roasted Eggplant was good but not quite what we expected. The Quinoa & Corn was sooooooo yummy! Could have eaten a whole bowl of only that! Super, super, good!! Went to the new Flower Child at Paradise Valley. Super space, bright and cheerful, and friendly service. What I loved was that it was quiet. In some of the other locations, the music is so loud you can't think, but that is not the case here. I got the sweet corn and quinoa, and my wife got the grilled asparagus and white bean with chicken. Both were wonderful. Going back there again next time we are in the Valley. read more

I enjoyed our outdoor meal at this Flower Child. It was different from other dining places. You ordered inside, up front, after standing in a short line. Then, you pour your own drink, grab your own utensils, and napkins, and seat yourself with a table number. We sat outside. The chairs were not overly comfortable. I love having options for fresh, real food at lunchtime, so I am thrilled to have Flower Child close by work. They have a menu that caters to everyone, from vegans to omnis, and everything I've had has been really good. My favorite wrap is the Thai Dye, which just tastes like freshness. My favorite meal, though, is grilled tofu with some sides. The broccoli side is next level. I only take off one star because the pickup system has not been accurate for me so far. TL:DR - Not quite fast casual, but closer to a fast fine dining casual. Decor is really nice and the food seems all fresh and healthy. Patio is really nice but narrow. I got the steak with broccoli and sweet potato. As a whole, the meal was a bit salty, but still delicious for the most part. The steak was more medium well/well done vs medium, but it's not a steak house. Price is high at about $45 for two entrees. Great if you are wanting a quick healthy option and don't mind paying a bit more. -------------------------------------------------------- I would consider this place as fast casual, but definitely taken up a notch. When you walk in, the decor is all very nice and updated, it's an open kitchen concept, and the food all looks top notch. But then you still order at the counter and grab your own utensils, condiments, and napkins before grabbing your own seat with number to indicate your order. The patio area is really nice in terms of patio furniture and decor again. But it is a tad bit narrow, so most of the tables are two seaters against the wall with a third seat really sticking out into the narrow walk way. The menu looks really good and based on whole natural unprocessed ingredients. I wanted to try all the sides, and most were even veggies, so this is weird for me. But I got the steak entrée with broccoli and grilled sweet potatoes. I don't eat a ton myself, and the portion was pretty big, so I definitely took some stuff home. As a whole, the meal was a bit salt heavy. Individually they were ok, but because everything was a bit salty, the meal just get getting saltier and saltier. The steak was a big grained steak like a flank, which I like, but it was between medium well and well done. But to be fair, this isn't a steak house. The sweet potato was def the favorite. Slightly sticky and sweet from the glaze, and cooked to perfection. We did pay a pretty penny for this spot, but it just seems like everything is getting more expensive these days, but do expect to pay about $45 for two entrees, which is probably double other fast casual spots like panera bread. Thanks to the other yelpers out there -- we visited this gem of restaurant while visiting the area and we were pleasantly surprised. We were greeted instantly and had several questions for the cashier, since it was our first time there. Kombucha on tap was pretty cool as were the variety of gluten free cookies. The restaurant was busy, but not overly loud -- and the servers and waitstaff were abuzz with activity. I like to watch to see if they like what they're doing - or if they are just 'at work' -- and, WOW, they were all smiling, working hard, interacting like friends...the positive energy was awesome. The three of us ordered a variety of dishes and thoroughly enjoyed them all. I ordered the GLOW BOWL with added protein (steak) and was wow'd. It was fresh, tasty and had just the right amount of dressing (see picture). My wife ordered the curry soup -- and felt it might have needed a little something, maybe salt, oil..not sure. Tasted pretty darned good to me and she slurped it all up. Our other guest had avocado toast and also noted her satisfaction. I'm allergic to dairy, and it had beautiful Parmesan sprinkles on it, so I could try -- but it looked very tasty. I didn't find the prices too high, like other reviewers - but perhaps that's because I value organic and allergy-sensitive kitchens. Those types of restaurants cost more...and it's worth it to me. So this is my first time here. Let me say the choices for the meals are great, but portions are relatively small. The reason for the review is that I am currently enduring a disciplinary meeting at the adjoining table. I have always been of the "praise in public, discipline in private" mind and the meeting is completely unacceptable in the dining area. The employee appears ganged up on and is being asked to explain himself in painful detail. Voices were elevated for a bit. There just has to be a better place to have these type of discussions. One of my favorite spots to get a fresh meal from. One of my go-tos is the vegetarian Caesar salad with the avocado dressing. The grated cheese, chives and breadcrumbs add to make this a very fresh and flavorful vegetarian option for a traditionally nonvegetarian salad. I also got the soup of the week which was a chicken and white bean soup, and it packed a good flavor and kick from a nice Southwest spicy influence. I got the grilled chicken entree which comes with two sides so I got mashed potatoes and grilled eggplant. The chicken and mashed potatoes are so flavorful and filling. The eggplant was served cold which threw me off considering the title was "grilled eggplant" still delicious as it was served with tomatoes and a Greek-like sauce below. Stopped by for a glow bowl which was a perfect blend of Thai style spice - coconut, sunflower, veggies and sweet potato 'noodles' plus some hummus with a side of veg, the roasted Brussels sprouts and of course the delicious lemon cake. Love all of the outdoor seating and the mix and match tea station, though I wish they had a caffeine free tea, the only caffeine free drink in the self serve drink area is lemonade which was a bit sweet.
