Parlor Doughnuts in Lakeland, FL -- Come for the doughnuts, stay because you've made a new friend…read more My husband and I walked into Parlor Doughnuts around 10:30 in the morning with absolutely NO idea what kind of doughnut we wanted. None. Zero. We stood there studying the menu like it was a major life decision. Thankfully, there wasn't a line behind us, because we probably took a good 10 minutes trying to figure out our doughnut destiny. And the wonderful woman working the counter was SO patient, friendly and helpful. Honestly, she didn't just help us choose doughnuts -- she probably could have helped us figure out our lives, too. And if she ever decides to get into real estate, I'm telling you now -- this gal could sell some houses! She was that engaging and personable. We told her what we liked, and she worked with us. I love peanut butter, and she told me she had a little bit left, so she made me a fresh doughnut with it. It was absolutely delicious. My husband likes very plain doughnuts, so she made him a "Plain Jane" and even offered to add a little sugar or honey. He politely declined because apparently he wants his doughnut to be as plain as humanly possible. We also grabbed a few of their smaller doughnuts, which were only 65¢ each. Everything was incredibly fresh, and there were probably a dozen or so varieties available that morning. Some had already sold out, but here's the cool part: if they have the ingredients, they'll work with you and make what they can. Especially on a slower morning, it felt like such a personal experience. The doughnuts were so fresh that my pictures honestly don't do them justice. The shop itself is also really nice. There's parking around downtown if you look for the free spots, music playing overhead (hello, 60s! ), plenty of tables, couches and comfortable spaces. It would be a great little place to sit and work, too. And the air-conditioning was PERFECT -- not freezing, not roasting. Just right. So if you're in Lakeland, come support this local doughnut shop. The doughnuts are fresh, the people are wonderful, and you might even walk out with a new favorite doughnut... or a new real estate agent. Parlor Doughnuts -- definitely worth a stop!

I wanted to try the breakfast meal with the burrito / hash brown and coffee…read more It was about $6.50 for the sausage/egg cheese and hashbrown burrito with a hash brown and choice of iced/hot coffee or cold drink in the chiller. The burrito was the size of your hand - I barely saw the egg and cheese in the burrito - It was ok but for the price4 it was not aq bad meal. They need to steam the flour tortilla IMO it makes teh burrito softer to eat. The grease you can taste it had the donut taste to it they use the same grease to fry the donuts and hashbrowns. I like the coffee here because its unlimited and fresh made in glass pitchers. I like the Coconut Creme creamer because it reminds me of how my mom love this creamer on her coffee. Also bought 6 pcs of donuts for $9.50 the owner gave me a free extra donut - Bought strawberry glaze, original glaze, cinnamon roll, apple fritter, chocolate french crueller, starwberry jelly, blueberry jelly. These donuts are known to be so tender and soft and light - that is why this place is popular with locals. It is asian owned and they are known for delicious light fluffy donuts.

We also got a strawberry cake donut, plain cake donut and blueberry cake donut. All three of them were fantastic. Probably the best donuts we've had in about 5 years, moist and flavorful! My son had a yeast donut (chocolate frosted with sprinkles) and my daughter had the donut holes again all of them were spectacular. The true of the star was the man behind the counter. He was so kind and caring. My son ate one of my daughter's donut holes and she was crying, he came from behind the counter and gave her a new one. 10/10 service. I wish I lived closer.

So far Donut Palace has earned the local area 5 star rating for donuts. Albeit they don't have a plethora of donuts to choose from, there was enough variety to satisfy any lover of donuts. The posted hours are until noon (12pm for those who are unfamiliar with the word - lol jk I think) and I arrived a little after 11am. The donuts I purchased were all still very fresh (2 thumbs up). We really liked the donuts, which included lemon and raspberry filled powdered, apple fritter, cinnamon roll, and a couple of glazed. The powdered, which were for me, were NOT overly sweet and the dough was fresh and soft, almost melting in my mouth. The wife enjoyed her apple fritter, which was on the small size, and cinnamon roll. The glazed were not overpowering sweet, like a Krispy Kreme (no thanks). There really are not many donuts shops in the area, besides numerous Dunkins which I was never fond of, so if I find one that bests this place I will review it and downgrade this one a star, but for the moment it's 5 stars and we will return. BTW, the lady running the place was very nice.

If you're picking out a dozen, you HAVE to get the glazed croissants. Seriously life changing! Flaky, sweet, delicious perfection. And while you're there, you also cannot go wrong with a sausage, egg, and cheese croissant sandwich. It was absolutely delicious and made fresh to order! The staff was very friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better. My one suggestion would be to either order ahead or go early because these donuts go FAST, and the earlier you go, the better the selection. The shop is small, but they do have tables and booths if you need to sit down and enjoy your goodies before heading out. If you're anywhere near one of their locations, you have to stop and treat yourself to a donut (or a dozen)! You will not be disappointed. Just don't be surprised if they disappear before you can take a picture!
