Each snip and buzz asked if it was okay or if I wanted it shorter, since I had mentioned in the past I've had problems with other barbers over cutting my hair! First time guest are able to get a complimentary wash and shampoo! Shop was soo cool and played awesome music. 10/10 experience, shop was soo cool and made me feel comfortable. On Thursday, July 16, at approximately 2:00 p.m., I visited Floyd's for a haircut. It was my first time there, and I thought it looked like a great place to try. When I walked in, there was one stylist cutting hair and approximately seven people waiting for haircuts. I approached the front desk, where a woman was sitting on a stool looking at her phone. I said, "Hello," but received no response. I then said, "Excuse me" and "Hello" two more times, yet I was still completely ignored. She was so focused on her phone that she didn't seem to notice I was standing less than a foot away from her. After several unsuccessful attempts to get her attention, I finally raised my voice so that everyone in the waiting area could hear me say, "Hello." She looked up, laughed as if she realized she had not been paying attention, and then asked, with an attitude, "What do you want?" I replied, "Well, a haircut would be nice." She informed me that there were no availability until around 5:00 p.m. and that I would have to come back. I asked whether appointments were required, and she curtly replied, "No," before immediately returning to her phone. I left without scheduling an appointment. I cannot comment on the quality of the haircuts because I never had the opportunity to receive one. However, I can say that the customer service and first impression I experienced were disappointing. A front desk employee sets the tone for a customer's visit, and unfortunately, my experience was unprofessional and unwelcoming. Based on that experience alone, I would not return. read more

Twice in the past 7 years I have come to this salon when trying to get a simple shape/line-up during the awkward stage of growing my hair out. Uncannily, both times the hairdressers did not listen and proceeded to cut months of growth w/out once checking in to verify the desired look/cut. This salon is a joke and I assume the only reason it is still in business is because dads bring their kids. Nobody wants to get free haircuts because the hairdresser messed up. Free doesn't grow hair back. Note: in case it wasn't obvious above, it was different stylists both times therefore it's the business and their lack of professionalism that's the problem. read more

This place is a hidden gem in Ashburn. I've been looking for a new barbershop in the area for my kids since their other barber moved to another state. I'm really picky about my kids haircuts, especially when it comes to skin fade. Maryjane did an excellent job and she took her time. I've been to other barbershop in the area and none of them payed as bunch attention as she did. She's very friendly, professional, detail oriented and she genuinely enjoys being a barber. Been here before and have always had a decent experience I guess. So I made an appointment this past week. I own the fact that I showed up 5 mins late. I apologized the second I walked in. Thankfully in my stylist was still finishing up the person in the chair so no harm, no foul....right? Nope. I was told they have 20 minute appointments now and she won't have time to do my cut before her next appointment. So I got a "sorry" and a blank stare. So that was that. Was there no other solution? If I walked in on time, they would have moved the other guy out of the chair because his 20 mins was up? I have no idea how to run one of these businesses but I likely won't be back to this one. Not to mention If I wanted a 20 min haircut, I would just go to a regular barber and save at least $10 bucks. read more

I've been going here since they opened a few years ago. The cuts are always really good. The issue I have is that they simply do not value my time. I have been reading comments by others and I see that it's not just me, it's relatively common. I had an appointment, showed up on time and finally left after 20 minutes. Even though they knew that they only had one person cutting hair, they double booked that time slot. Even though they knew that they were behind, nothing was said to me. When this location opened, there was virtually no competition in this area. That is no longer true. I walked in, the place was empty with one barber sitting and texting on the phone. I said good morning I need to get a haircut bad as I have a funeral tomorrow. She asked me if I had an appointment and that she's the only one here. I replied no as she was looking in the computer for an appointment?? After her search she concluded that the next "appointment" available was Friday 8/20/21 at 5:30pm. I thanked her and walked out. This place is a hidden gem in ashburn! Although my experience could have been better I'm kind of glad it wasn't. Let me explain. Mono was my barber. She was amazing!!! I came in late one day, I called first to make an appointment. Once the appointment was made I showed up to have my beard trimmed. I didn't look at pricing before I showed up as how much could it be to trim and fade a beard. Once I was in the chair and she started using all these products on my face and the hot towel/straight razor shave I new it was going to be pricey. However at that point I didn't care because she was so general and very thorough. It was such an amazing experience. Will definitely be back for sure to have this done regularly. My beard looked amazing and my face felt incredible. I left with a huge smile and felt great! What I didn't like was when I walked in, they didn't discuss pricing they just put me in the chair and I said I wanted my beard faded and they went to work. So I didn't know how much I was paying for this service. What I didn't like was when I went to write this review I saw on Yelp that a beard fade is $19.00 and a full straight razor shave was $45.00. I wanted a beard fade but since I was new I feel like they picked the higher price service for me since I didn't know better. I was never given the options. Like I mentioned above I'm kind of glad they did because I would have never gotten to experience this level of service. I will definitely be back for the full shave that I got before. Been coming here for a few years since I moved into the area, never had a bad experience. Each of the barbers have very diverse personalities, with their own styles of cutting hair (which personally, I think is awesome, because everybody has their own preference). And even though I had my hair cut here by different barbers, my friends were always so curious about where I got my haircut because the results were always great! Wait times for walk-ins have always been completely understandable, and sometimes they're ready for me much sooner than expected. They even have appointments to book online if you don't want to wait very long. I especially love coming here after a stressful day, because this barbershop surprisingly eases all my tensions when they wash my hair and use the mini back massager. read more

I brought my son to Floyd's for a quick haircut, and it was so much better than other shops in the area. We were lucky enough to get Robin as his stylist, and she did a great job. We came armed with two pictures for ideas and Robin helped us find a happy middle ground. He loves his new style. Luckily you can either do a walk-in or call ahead to get preference over walk-ins. The entire process took over an hour and a half and he was given a new person who had to ask for help. I have nothing bad to say for the place except for one barber (Azzaro). I have been to this place many times and have had great barbers (Marijane) but I needed a quick hair cut today so I walked in and got Azzaro. I showed him a picture of exactly what I wanted which was a fade on the sides and not to cut the top. I thought that picture would've sufficed in terms of how I wanted it cut and he turned me around in the chair and cut my hair. You would think a a barber can mimic a perfectly good picture and directions? Nope, by the time he turned me back around in the mirror, he absolutely butchered my haircut to the fact that he cut an INCH off of my top and I had to go pay another barber to get a buzz cut because the haircut was that bad and honestly it was that hard to fix. Never coming back here again. How do you not understand "don't cut the top" "here is the picture of how I want it to look like". TLDR: Azzaro can't follow directions and does his own thing. If he is in that shop that day, get someone else for the love of god. But every other barber is fine. read more

I brought my kids in for haircuts, two boys and each saw someone different. We had a really good experience with my oldest, and a really terrible experience with my youngest who saw Kim V. She obviously didn't want to do a kid's cut because when my husband showed her a picture of what my son wanted, she said that the cut was a "special fade" and would take too much time. During the cut, she left her station multiple times to complain to the manager that my son was moving too much. Now, he's 6, but he's had many haircuts and actually sits pretty still. The problem is that she didn't want to cut his hair and manhandled him, jerking his head around. She did the cut, but it looks like he's enlisting in the marines and isn't even close to what my son wanted. He was disappointed. I wasn't going to write a review but the more I think about it the more annoyed I get. Not about the haircut (although it's terrible) but more about the way my kid was treated. Kim V had no right to have such a poor attitude about cutting my kid's hair. Perhaps she should request to her manager that she not be assigned kids, as she has no business dealing with them. The 2 star rating is for past really good experiences , which deserve a 5 star rating. Kim deserves a big fat donut hole rating. read more

Overall I've had good experiences here. It really depends on the employee I use. I enjoy the punk rock atmosphere and services. Really only convenient if you schedule an appointment. I was a little skeptical at first because I've tried every barbershop in the area and have been utterly disappointed so I expected this one to be no different. I was in love the moment I walked in the door--finally, an old-school barbershop!! There are washing stations at every chair so there's no need to get up, just sit back and relax. A friend of mine recommended Floyds to me, so I wanted to check it out. Had been going to Roosters, but have not had the consistency I would had liked. So I go in, with no appointment, said it would be 10 minutes. Gave me 10 minutes to check out Rock and Roll posters on all the walls, and listen to some great music. Kelly R greeted me, asked a bunch of good questions before just cutting hair. Best cut I've had in years....used scissors mainly, shaved back of neck, warm towel over face, and back massage before leaving.....all for much cheaper that what I used to pay. I was greatly disappointed with my first (and last) experience with Floyds 99 customer service! I called early in the day on a Sunday to make a 'reservation' for a 5pm haircut for my teenage son. He heard about Floyds 99 and of course wanted to try it out. We arrived at 5pm, told it would be 20min and suggested we go for a snack and return. I was fine with that. I get that. We return in 20min to be told 'We apologize but we're not going to be able to see you today. We are busier than usual.' What? What? Sorry Floyds 99. After months without a haircut, the Floyds out in Ashburn (I live in Falls Church) was the first reputable shop that had available appointments. In a COVID world, they followed every guideline. My temperature was monitored when I arrived. I checked in and went to my car to be called when my stylist was ready. I was 20 minutes early, but they called me very quickly. The staff who greeted me were pleasant and professional. Amber was my stylist. She asked questions and delivered the haircut I wanted. I did a walk in on a Friday. They advised me it would be a 15 minute wait which I was ok with. The lady that attended me was extremely nice and so was the other lady that cut my son's hair. I must say I was a fan of the music and the design of the shop. The lady that cut my son's hair was patient due to my son not use to getting haircuts. Now, for the most part she did good but it wasn't finished. She left a lot long strands towards the front and left long hairs being his ears and one sideburn was longer than the other. Yikes! I'm a 30 year old man and my barber (who I won't name) gave me a 12 year old boy's cut. My family and friends made fun of me for 2 months it was horrible. I won't be coming back. Bryant at Floyds is the best barber I've found in all of Loudoun and Fairfax County. He does an awesome job for haircuts and beard trims. His attention to detail is impeccable and I've always left happy with what he's done. Even when they are busy you NEVER feel like he is trying to rush to get you out of his chair just so he can get another customer. He takes his time and does it right. Very great attention to detail if you know what you're getting as far as styles go, if you don't know what you want it's hard for them to guess but they can get creative if you allow them. Scheduling is always hard for busy places so be considerate and call ahead of time, so far every time I go in at non-peak hours (obviously the smart thing to do) you'll get right in without any problems. I walked in without an appointment hoping they could fit my son in for a haircut. They said the next availability was in 15 minutes, that worked for us! The stylist, Kat, took care of his haircut. She was very sweet and asked what we were looking for. My son has a few cowlicks on his head and I like to point them out so that they don't overcut and it ends up being terrible.
