Kara E. did a fantastic job. I was really worried about getting my beard cut (first major trim) and she put me at ease and did a great job. They fit me in on short notice and I was out the door in no time with barely a dent in the wallet (seriously like amazingly inexpensive for my bushy beard). I highly recommend anyone with a beard to get it done there. They seem to have some pretty good products too. They weren't pushy on getting this balm or that which is always appreciated. My gf loves the way my beard smells. Next time I go back to sit in Kara's chair (there will be a next time) I'm getting some of the product she recommended. I had a feeling I would walk out happy because all the guys walking out and in the chairs looked awesome. We had a really dissapointing experience. I booked two of our sons for a haircut, and they were spaced 20-minutes apart, so we took our oldest son in the hope of a walk-in availability. My wife asked the young man working the desk and he politely said they didn't have any openings. No worries. Then, my wife overheard the manager sa in the snarkiest way possible "Don't you just love it when people think they can walk in and get their hair cut without an appointment, pfft." Is this how you treat your customers? We're officially done with this place. unfortunately would not recommend the one in Naperville completely messed up my son's hair He told the guy exactly what he wanted done, even brought in several pictures All they had to do was trim it. It was not a completely different style. It just had grown out a little bit and needed to be cleaned up He said could do no problem . only reason had gone there because our regular is out for health reasons for a while. Went last month as a walk in and was told the wait was 10 min. Then after waiting they told me they were looking at the schedule for the wrong day and they had no openings. Made an appointment days in advance for today. Woke up to a text pushing it back an hour. Then when it was almost time, I was told there was still someone before me so I walked out. Had a 5:55pm haircut yesterday with one of the guys that works there and it was probably the worst haircut I have ever had. The barber cut my hair quicker than any barber I've had in the past. I guarantee I was the last haircut he had for the day, and he wanted to go home and was trying to go as fast as possible. I did not realize how bad it was until I got home. For example, he cut my side burns at an angle and all around was very sloppy job. I would have been better off at Great Clips. Barber was very unfriendly as well. The other barbers looked much more friendly and I think I got unlucky with who I got paired with. read more

The last two times I've been in the appointment I scheduled for my son and I got booted around. The first to last time they called me 45 minutes prior to my appointment as we sat down to eat they called and asked if we could come now because of booking issues and were rude about it when I said we were just about to eat. When I did arrive about ten minutes early the lady at the counter said thanks for coming sooner, shook her head and walked away. Today we booked for 5:45, got a message on our way they were running 15 min behind. I thought okay cool, they're learning from people's experiences, we get there check in, my wife identified who we were and the woman in the coal hat says, about 10 min. Sit down son gets called. 25 min go by, two walk ins come in, I still haven't been called. Finally my son finishes and I still haven't been called. I tell my wife forget it they must be slammed, even though we have two appointments at 5:45, and the lady in the coal hat says, your appointment is for 630. I asked her in what world would I book appointments 45 min apart. I called specifically so this wouldn't happen. She says she doesn't know, they likely won't be able to see me before 6:30 they shrugs. It's a mess, their system is wonky and if you don't book a spec9foc stylist you're better off not booking and going when they are slow. I'm done with it. There's other places. If it's dead in there, you're in the area you can get a good cut. But beware booking an appointment, and best of luck. read more

Needed a haircut from a someone I could trust, and because Floyd's has never let me down in the past, the choice was obvious. I've always had a complicated relationship with my hair... it's always been too hot, too thick, too hard to maintain. I even gave up on it for solid decade and shaved my own head. So, finding someone who not only understands how to deal with, but makes me take pride in it is ridiculously rare. The care that Kayla took with my hair to get everything looking and feeling just right was kind of amazing. I've had a regular stylist for many years, and now I'm genuinely conflicted with how to move forward... which tells you how happy I am, and how great a job she did. read more

Also offered services without disclosing that they weren't included in the standard cut price! Haircut itself was rushed, not very good, was clearly done as fast as possible, and certainly not worth nearly $40 (!!!). Have had better cuts at Great Clips for far less. They seem to always be significantly behind on appointments. My son and I would go monthly and they seem to usually be behind 15 minutes or more. Sometimes they will give you a heads up and a discount, but even then it's typically when I am already on my way there. For my most recent appointment I waited 30 minutes after arriving 5 min before my appointment and had to leave to make sure I made another appointment on time. This is the second time it has happened in the last six months. I like the staff and Ascension B gives a good haircut. Wish they were more reliable on scheduling. read more

As much as I have enjoyed my experiences here I've run into the same issue twice now. This issue being that the scheduling system isn't really upheld or at least isn't of import. I have had two instances where I schedule an appointment well in advance and show up 5-10 minutes early for the appointment, but much to my dismay find out that I'll be waiting anywhere from 20-45 minutes after the scheduled time due to the stylist taking someone who hasn't scheduled anything. Got my hair cut, my eyebrows, ears, and nose waxed. Plus blackheads removed! My esthetician, Jessica, "Jessie", was awesome! The. Best. Ever! This is a new shop, just opened in June. Manager was there. Entire staff are "into what they do." And they are enthusiastic about the Floyd's brand. Just left this "barber shop". I have a mohawk and just wanted to get the sides razor shaved and the top trimmed. As I'm getting cut the woman tells me she's not a barber and of the SIX women working at the moment, none are barbers! AT A BARBER SHOP! My trim took 5 min and cost $30 for not ever touching me with a razor. If I go to a barber shop I expect to be cut by a barber. Understand before you go here that this is a salon. The women there are nice, but and I did get a minute long neck massage, but that's not worth $30. Not even close. I want a refund. read more

After reading some of the other reviews where my exact situation played out, I shouldn't have been as surprised. I scheduled an appointment online for A weekday morning (not a busy time typically). I showed up 5 minutes early and they asked me to take a seat until they're ready. After sitting there for over 15 minutes and seeing all 3 chairs still in the middle of getting their haircut, I got up and asked when I was going to be able to get my haircut. The person at the desk apologized that it's such a wait when I had an appointment. I just decided to leave since I didn't want to sit in a waiting area for 30 minutes (kind of defeats the entire purpose of making an appointment). Just a bizarre model to me. I'd rather they just not ask you to make an appointment if it really doesn't matter (as other people have remarked in reviews as well). It just sets a false expectation. read more

If I could rate a specific hairstylist, I would give it 5 stars. Unfortunately, the quality and consistency amongst stylists makes me give it 3 stars. I've been to various Floyd's locations all over the area and country and love how the level of service is (typically) consistent wherever you go. Brooke is an amazing stylist, pays attention to detail and listens to her client. Her level of detail is what I look for when I seek out a new hairstylist. I'm glad I was able to find someone at this location who pays as much attention as I do to my cuts; I am very particular about my haircuts. My schedule is sporadic and I can't always get in with Brooke. Sadly, every time I have been with a different stylist has not been good. The haircuts feel rushed as a walk in, and it seems each person has a typical style they do and no matter what you tell them, you walk out with that style. If you stray from it, you leave looking a bit butchered. I've walked out with uneven sideburns, a fade on the left side that was not blended, and a neck that was squared off way too high. Confession, I pay attention to all these things, and some guys don't, but every time I sit in the chair I give a 5 minute rundown of how I like my cut. If I ask for a fade, I expect a fade, and not a number one buzzed all the way up to my crown. Especially when I point out exactly where I want the fade to begin. When I ask them not to touch the hairline around my ears, I don't like to walk out with an arch around them that can be see from the next block. Long story, there seems to be great talent here, especially from the other reviews. It'd just be nice if there was some uniformity amongst the chairs. read more

I am a patient person. I don't have a problem waiting for things. A lot of times the best things are worth waiting for. Not this time. I had been going to Floyd's for a couple of month. Never got an outstanding haircut, but I really liked the area and the atmosphere overall. I liked it so much, I drove 35 minutes to come to Floyd's on Monday night around 7, and was told it would be a 45 minute wait, even though there was only 1 other person in the room waiting, and 4 stylists. I said "no, it's ok. I can come back a different day, it's not a problem." And made an appointment for Wednesday at 6. So I took off work a bit early to make sure I could get back from the city in time, and showed up at 6. It wasn't incredibly busy, but there was enough people that I wasn't the next person up (I'm not sure why you would offer to make a reservation and still take clients 2 minutes before the reservation, but that's just me apparently). So I sit down and wait. First for 10 minutes. Then 20. Then 30. Then the receptionist walks over to myself and the two 6 year olds waiting and lets us know that 3 of the people in the chair will be done in the next couple of minutes. I agree with her, considering I watched all of their haircuts and also recognize that they are about done. One finishes, and I'm thinking alright, we're moving along. Both of the little kids get called up for there chairs so it's just me and the 2 or 3 walk ins that were there. The last stylist is finally done with her client and I'm thinking I'm next. 10 minutes go by and she's still standing around. Finally she starts walking up to the counter. In my head, i think it's showtime, I'm about to get my haircut, only took 50 minutes to this point from when I had my appointment. So I'm waiting still. Then a mom and her son walk in. I remember vividly murmuring "have fun waiting, champ, I'm next". After the typical exchange, I hear her ask if she had an appointment. The answer was yes. Too bad you have another customer that had been waiting in the shop for almost a full hour, right? Wrong. All of a sudden, the little guy walks back there and got to cut the line. I don't know if they had an appointment for 5:30 and they got to go first because they were late, or if they had an appointment for 7 and they got to go because it was finally 7 (yeah, I waited for an hour). Seeing all of this had made me visibly furious. So I compose myself and tell the receptionist to "take my name off the list, I'm astonished right now" and leave to go to one of the other 4 hair cutting establishments within a 6 block radius. The entire interaction made me so upset, that I downloaded yelp, made an account, went to Mod (big Mod fan, I'll rate them next, 5 stars for sure), ordered a pizza, and began articulating my thoughts. If I could rate the exchange less than a one I would. Not to mention, this is the 3rd time I've been made to wait while having an appointment. I look forward to supporting every facet of downtown Naperville, with the one exception of Floyd's 99 Barbershop. read more

My boyfriend went in to get a haircut this morning 5/26 a guy name Dan helped him. Dan started making comments that were very ignorant mid haircut and not profesional at all. He asked my boyfriend if he was Mexican after telling Dan he wasn't he said he looked Mexican...Not sure what he meant by "look Mexican" what do Mexican people look like? Not all Hispanic people are from Mexico and assuming "we all" look alike is very ignorant and racist. He also talked about supporting blue lives matter and talking about religion and god. Letting someone know about our awful experiences with the Naperville Floyd's location. There have been several timea I booked appointments on line (a week out from haircut) for someone to call and cancel on same day of appointment. Just went for a child's hair cut- had my two kids (3 & 4) with me and waited 30 minutes for my appointment before we walked out and left. A complimentary hair cut was offered for next time, but we will definitely not return. While waiting for our appointment our stylist/barber never came over to apologize that she was running behind- 30 minutes behind is ridiculous. Also while waiting another stylist was shaving her arm hair. Completely disgusting and inappropriate. Was she going to use those same clippers on someone's haircut after?? Another gentleman next to me was also waiting for his appointment. This stylist wasn't even in the shop yet and he had been waiting 15 minutes. Looks like I'm just the latest big victim poor customer service from this shop. Scheduled an appointment 4 days in advance. Day of get a call (no VM) and then a text to reschedule my appointment because the stylist is not going to be in today. I would have left this to roll off my back if this wasn't my experience every time I try to book with them. I have a sneaking suspicion there are more stylists in their booking system than actually exist. Stick to walk in service only is my only advice. From those that have made it to your doorstep but skipped over, sounds like you worry about volume over repeat business.
