Great atmosphere and fun vibe! Classic chicago dog. I love all the artwork on the walls - there is mold on some of them though (the ones near the bottom of the wall) so that kind of put me off. Food was good though, and everyone was nice!

Good Chicago dog and I enjoyed the somewhat grungy vibe on the inside. A little expensive at $15 for a single hotdog combo, but it was tasty so oh well.

Totally stumbled on this place randomly when trying to find food in Lakeview, and was decently surprised. This place is simply a fast casual dining spot that I believe is locally owned. The staff is super nice and accommodating, they want you to feel well catered to and the vibe very much gives you family owned vibes. Food-wise they have a bunch of interesting options but are bound to give you a solid burger regardless what you choose. While pricing seems in line with everything else you'd see in the area, I would definitely take this over going to a chain/fast food place.

We called to see if they were open. He said yes but we're almost out of hot dogs. He put 2 aside for us until we could get there. So sweet! Park at Marianos across the street. It's free. The food was good. The hot dogs had the proper snap. Good flavor. Fries were excellent. Tater tots were tater tots. We'll be back.

Came here on a recommendation from friends. Flub A Dub Chub's is a cozy neighborhood joint serving an array of hot dogs. I had The Reuben with tater tots/fries. The hot dog was juicy, meaty, and so satisfying with the perfectly melted cheese. So many options...I would love to come back next time we are in town to try something else!

Such a fun local spot. My friend took me here as I was visiting from out of town. I'm a sucker for Chicago hot dogs. Service was quick and the cashier that took our order was friendly. I loved all drawings of hot dogs they had plastered all over their walls. Fun spot, delicious hot dogs.

Classic Chicago Hot dog joint Located across the street from Mariano's so you can grab a bite before you get your groceries. There's stairs, so not ADA accessible, but it's a short climb. Staff were professional and food was hot. The hot dog had the classic profile and was everything you could expect. Tater tots were nice and crunchy. They do ask if you want ketchup... for your tots :) Would recommend if your parents are visiting and would want a local classic.

Delicious Chicago style veggie dog and crunchy tots. The owner or manager or the fella that rang me up was super friendly and helpful. Also he let me know they have a lettuce wrap option for gluten free folks

I feel like this place is a hidden gem. Sitting below on busy Broadway in lakeview it could be hard to miss. My run club decided to come as a meetup and the entire place was so accommodating to our large group. You can't beat the price to get a hot dog, fries, and drink for under $10. It was really tasty and the drawings on the wall are so creative.

I had the Chicago Best's dog with pulled pork. All the elements were perfect together. The tots were great as well and I like they give you an option for tots, fries or a salad. They will bring your food up to you if you're in Monsignor Murphys which is also a great service.

Came here today with my boyfriend after having wanted to try it for months! This restaurant is a neighborhood staple, and now I understand the hype. They have a pretty long list of hotdog and hamburgers options to suit your fancy. I got the Flubby with fries which is their standard Chicago style hotdog with all the right accoutrements. It was phenomenal! Perfect amount of toppings and delicious hotdog. The fries were cooked perfectly as well. My boyfriend got a Flubby and a bacon cheeseburger also with fries and tater tots. He said that the burger and hotdog were one of the bests for this style of restaurant in the city of Chicago, which is high praise coming from a Chicago native. He also rated it 5/5. Don't be afraid of the line (if there is one) because it moved fast. The service was fantastic for the type of restaurant it is with super friendly staff. There is generally plenty of seating inside and outside. This was the perfect meal for a 4th of July lunch.

Tater tots were perfectly crispy and seasoned and a great amount. Chicago dog was made well with plenty of toppings, including a heavy dose of celery salt and relish. The Tuesday deal was $7 for the combo! Happy to try a new Chicago dog, and the environment is fun with all the hot dog-themed drawings (they hold a contest every week!) to look at and talk about. It's very satisfying and I'd be happy to go again!

Fortunately Portillo's offers both and it was recommended by locals and previous travelers to make this my one restaurant to try both. I arrived on foot on a Saturday before 10pm and there was a long line to order on the kiosks and a security guard by the door. The restaurant has two floors of seating with dated decor all around, assumingly part of the intended vibe of the establishment. The first floor seating was all taken but there were plenty of tables available on the second floor. I was able to try Portillo's hot dog and Italian beef sandwich. The hot dog included mustard, relish, celery salt, freshly chopped onions, sliced tomatoes, pickle, and peppers on a poppy seed bun. The paper wrapper was strategically wrapped around the Chicago dog inside out, knowing that the logo would be clearly visible when people take pictures of the unwrapped hot dog. I ordered a regular hot dog but probably should've ordered a jumbo hot dog for a dollar more since then regular was tiny; for comparison it was definitely smaller than a Costco hot dog. Although the toppings complemented the hot dog well, the bun was soggy from being wrapped in the paper for only a few minutes. The standard big Italian beef sandwich (slightly wet) was much larger for more than double the price of the hot dog, with no Portillo's branding on that wrapper. I was a little too excited to order this that I forgot to add sweet and hot peppers, but the sandwich still tasted very good. After ordering I realized I probably should've ordered the gravy on the side so I can dip the sandwich more, but again it was still very good. For dessert I tried the lemon cake slice and strawberry shortcake. The lemon cake was a little dry and really sweet and the strawberry shortcake had a little too much mascarpone cheese whipped topping for my liking, but of course I didn't have to finish it all. Portillo's is a good option for casual fast food and for travelers to try. I definitely prefer the Italian beef sandwich over the Chicago dog, but that is my personal preference. For a sweet treat, the strawberry shortcake is a nice option if no other dessert places are nearby. To save time during peak hours, it may be a good idea to order ahead on the mobile app.

It has that classic late night comfort food vibe and feels like one of those staple spots you have to try at least once. First night I ordered a polish hot dog with everything on it and a fish sandwich w/ extra grilled onions. Super cool that your order comes with fries and I added a cheese cup both times. In my opinion the fries were mid the first go around, but second time they were better. Definitely tasted better dipped in cheese. They were kinda airy in texture, if that makes sense. Polish hot dog was around a 6.5-7/10 for me. It did taste better warmed up the next day. What I was most obsessed with was the double cheeseburger and fish sandwich! both were easily a 10/10. Super good prices and worth the money. Also, the chile peppers were sooo bomb and hotter than I expected ! I wanted to eat them all, but they were packing some serious heat! The lemon Italian ice is where it's at, make sure to order one! You can also mix it with strawberry, but both times people recommended the lemon and now I see why. The line gets super active and busy past 10-11pm, but during the daytime it's way less crowded. Even when it gets packed the line moves pretty quick. They move the line very fast so you're not waiting long at all. We ordered 3 hot dogs with everything (mustard, onions, relish & sport peppers) the basic depression hot dog. They come with fresh cut fries & we got a fountain Cherry Coke to share. I spent $20 even with tip. The hot dogs were good i wasn't disappointed nice soft bun tasty condiments and a great snap to the hot dogs. I'll give it a 7/10. The fries had a decent amount of salt on them a bit oily and not too crispy but they were fair. They don't have any ketchup in the house. We keep tobacco in the SUV so I added some to the fries for a little bit. Without the tobacco the fries were still tasty. A solid 6.5/10. The service was good.
