Aww, man!! Walking up to the storefront, I was really looking forward to giving them more stars. It's such a cute little establishment. For starters, the cashier was super friendly and very helpful, but on this particular day, the selection was limited and there wasn't much to choose from compared to all the pictures I've seen posted. The popular and most raved item is the Veruca Salt cake and personally, it was good but I wasn't wowed. Also as many reviews have stated about the owner not being friendly, I hate to say, but I did find that to be true. She happened to come out from the back and I watched how she seemed to be frustrated and without a smile with some other patrons. I even walked up to the counter and asked where do you put your used silverware and she just looked at me. However, the friendly cashier did inform me where to put it. I dislike giving unfavorable reviews, but please be aware that if you have any encounters with the owner during your visit, it may not be the friendliest. Thank goodness for Amanda G. and Erica S. (other Yelp authors who shared my same sentiments) because I thought something was wrong with me! Damn Rebecca, is it too difficult to fake pleasantries when your regular customers visit and leave money with you? You could even practice saying "hello." Such poor business practices--as an owner--are inexcusable and beyond excuse, or just a bad day. The couch potato cookie, duck fat caramels, and macaroon are divine, but not so delicious that this patron will return for absolutely lack-luster service. I was really excited to hear that Fluff had grown to its own brick-and-mortar. After all, Fluff products are the whole reason that I even know and joyfully greet the owners of Revival Market. At one time, they probably even thought that I was business partner of Fluff Bake Bar or I owned stock in the growing business because I was buying macaroon so often--and driving from Baytown to do so. I recently returned to try their plated desserts, which are available daily from 6 PM to close. During the day, it's a grab-and-go type of bakery. At night though, it really comes alive. Chef Mason has had pastry experience in NYC, so this is her chance to showcase her skills outside of cookies (not hating on cookies, I love them). She's already infamous for being a tad abrasive, and I don't think I've seen her smile, but try not to let that affect your sweet experience. The plated desserts are totally fancy schmancy. I couldn't even remember the intricate details of each item without referring to a photo of the menu. They're made-to-order, and will cost you a pretty penny (~$13). You can get wine pairings and plan a staycation on the lovely patio out back. We shared the following: -Chocolate butterscotch tart with malted milk ice cream and milk crumb. The tart was way too salty to eat on its own, and there wasn't enough ice cream to balance the flavors. The milk crumb had an interesting texture, and I suspect some molecular gastronomy at play here. -Risotto Zeppole with gingered blueberries and honey semifreddo. Don't worry, I, too, was puzzled. What does this all mean? It is basically deep fried donut holes with risotto stuffing. I was very intrigued by risotto in a dessert, and it didn't disappoint. My favorite part was the honey semifreddo, which translates as semi-frozen. Think frozen mousse- almost but not quite ice cream. -Veruca salt cup/cake. Just had to. It's the best thing ever. -Strawberry lemon cup/cake- a seasonal flavor. What a GREAT feeling when nobody else likes your favorite dish as much as you do, so you get to devour it exclusively. The brown butter cake was moist, the strawberry jam and lemon curd worked well together, and the little blond chocolate pearls on top had a great crunch. Loyal fans will rejoice because all their favorites are available- fluffer nutter and unicorn bait cookies, and way more interesting than their chocolate chip. Cupcakes? Soooo five years ago. Cup/cakes (literally, cakes in a cup). are so hot right now! They're much easier to eat on a date without getting frosting all over your pretty little face. They have several 6 inch cakes available for drop in purchases (~$36.99), but anything larger must be ordered in advance. Business hours have been extended to as late as midnight on weekends! I ordered my birthday cake from here and it was perfect. Every single person said it was the best cake they had ever eaten. The owner came out to present it to me, as she rightfully takes pride in her work and I squealed when she opened the box to show me. This is the best bakery in Houston. I would also like to add they do provide TRUE gluten free snacks if asked for in advance, that means baked in a separate location, as to not cross contaminate. Cute little place with some of the better desserts i have had. Dessert place with wine/beer, what else could you ask for? Other than better customer service? There were two staff members during my visit and one of them definitely did not want to be here. Unfortunately, that person may have been the owner. She's not the friendliest nor has the patience to deal with human beings. Besides that, I enjoyed the desserts at this place. I took my cousins here on a Saturday afternoon. We ordered the black velvet cake, apple pie bar, and brownie. For someone who doesn't like desserts and doesn't have a sweet tooth, these are some of the best and fresh desserts I've had. I had an ice cream sandwich and it was pretty good. My cookies were a little hard, probably because they had been sitting out most of the day, but the vanilla bean ice cream was delicious. I originally tried Fluff Bake Bar at Revival Market, and I thought their chocolate chip cookie was great! Now that I've visited their brick and mortar and tried more of their items, I thought it was time for an update. Here are the things my little sweet tooth tried: -Couch potato cookie - excellent, my favorite item that I tried. Sweet and yet salty at the same time--wonderful! -Birthday cake macaron - the fact that I threw away half of it says something--I usually never let a sweet go to waste. It was pretty hard--not light and fluffy like a macaron should be--and tasted a little funny (sorry, I can't think of a better way to describe it) -Veruca salt "cupcake"--it's cake and icing in a cup, which is a really cute concept but not as yummy as I'd hoped. The cake was OK, but the icing wasn't as buttercream-y as I would have liked. As far as service goes, I really got no greeting when I walked in the door, and it took them 5-10 minutes to get to me. Although I would expect this if the store was really busy, there were only two other customers. This may sound funny, but they didn't really seem happy to be there--a place filled with yummy sugar should always be a happy place! While I'm all for new bakeries and think the cookies at Fluff are fantastic, I'd still say Common Bond, The Chocolate Bar and Red Dessert Dive are going to stay my go-tos. read more

Yes I agree with others, Google Maps DOES NOT work with getting here. So be aware of that. The store smells great and it has a very cute set up and design. I had the oatmeal chocolate chip cookie. It was good, but not superb. I wish it had more chocolate. But it was moist enough and had a good texture. I had first ordered a cake from Rebecca before Fluff Bake bar opened on W Gray - I got so many compliments on that cake! Everyone loved it, it was the veruca salt, and the salted caramel buttercream is so light and fluffy, and the perfect amount of salt, not overpowering like most places. When I heard Rebecca was opening a shop, I was excited they would be closer to me, and easily accessible! I came to the grand opening and picked up a couch potato, pistachio macaron, fluffernutter and a chocolate chip cookie. The couch potato is an interesting delicious concoction of salty snacks combined with chocolate chips in cookie form. The fluffernutter is a dense peanut butter cookie sandwich with a marshmallow cream center. Don't pass up on the cup|cakes. Not your average - this is a layered dessert in a cup, with frosting and other sweet surprise toppings/fillings. The veruca salt in available in this size, so don't leave without trying it! I have been back many times (including the time I came for a cookie crawl, FBB came has a decent chocolate chip cookie) since opening and its consistently good! They have a small dining area, but lots of outdoor seating out in the patio. They are serving wine and plated desserts at night, I have yet to try those. My boyfriend and I stopped by Fluff Bake Bar for some dessert around 8:30 PM one week night. First, the parking sucks because of the location within Midtown. We had quite a walk from where we parked (and paid) to leave the car. The first impression was that the place was very cute and I like how you can watch them bake and make things in the back with the glass windows! Very nice! We ordered the homemade moon pie (which I liked) and the Veruca Salt cup cake. The idea of the cup cake is so cute and nice and clean to eat, but I was disappointed when sharing with my boyfriend. We ended up taking most home then throwing it away a few days later because we just weren't impressed. If I was in the area I MAY stop by for a cookie or the moon pie but I just wasn't very impressed with the cup cake (which I was told is the best thing on the menu here). read more

I called on the phone and asked what was their most popular cake and they recommended the Veruca Salt cake. This was an alright spot. I wouldn't say it's the best dessert place in town, but if you are in the midtown area and looking for sweets, it's not a bad option. I wish they had more in the way of ice creams, but that is ok. The day-old cookies were not too bad. They had a coconut macaroon that had a really good flavor, but was a little on the dry side. They also offer coffee, cappucinnos, espressos, etc. I felt that the employees were nice enough and even brought our coffees and waters to us while we waited at the cute little bistro tables outside. I ordered this drum cone ice cream thing that appeared to be on special. For $6 it was a peanut butter filled cone, filled with chocolate malt ice cream and topped with a hard chocolate shell and sprinkles on top. If you like sweet, then you will like this. Cookies are huge and gooey! I tried a variety and could not get over the rich taste of the butter cookie. I also tried a cappuccino which wasn't the greatest but the cookies made up for what it lacked. Was craving sweets and found this place on Zagat's "The 10 Hottest New Restaurants in Houston" posting and drove here the next day during the early afternoon. And YES! So glad I came! Walked in and was greeted by a nice worker who explained the ins and outs to me. Turns out that during the day they sell cookies, tarts, cakes, etc, and after 6pm they add a plated dessert menu that changes depending on what the chef wants to make, and can be paired with wine. After eyeing the different cakes and cookies, I decided to go with the veruca salt cake (sold in a cup), the couch potato (potato chips, cornflakes, pretzels, marshmallows and chocolate chip cookie) and snickerdoodle. Yum! Everything was delicious! Snickerdoodle: slightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and not overly sweet. Couch potato: pure caramelized goodness with crunchy and savory potato chips and pretzels melded into a buttery cookie. Veruca Salt: Layers of caramel cream sandwiched between devil's cake and salty pretzels. Topped with little chocolate covered malt balls. In fact, it was so good that I had to return the next day with a friend to try the strawberry lemon cake (seasonal) and carrot cake cups. Husband also requested another couch potato since I didn't leave him much. Both of the cakes were very delicious as well, but I think my favorite items are still the veruca salt and couch potato. Price-wise, each of the cake cups were $4, couch potato is $2, snickerdoodle is $1.75. You can get an emailed copy of your receipt if you choose. This is a review of this establishment's "customer service" only... Wow! So I pulled into the parking lot of this place to text a friend if she wanted to try this bakery out. While I was pulling in, an older lady walked out with a gentleman who then got into his car. The lady then walked to my car and when I rolled down the window, she asked if I needed help. I told her I was speaking to a friend and before I could say another word, she pointed to a "Customer parking only, Tow away" sign and rudely stated, "Don't you see that sign? You need to leave now." Obviously, this was a sign to me that I should never patronize this business. I rarely ever resort to this, but it did cross my mind that perhaps she treated me this way because I'm Asian (I was in my vehicle so I didn't have a mask on when she approached my car window). Fluff Bakery is such a cute little dessert shop in Midtown! After a disappointing lunch, my friends and I decided to swing by and get something sweet to make up for our misfortune. Fluff has a wide variety of cookies, cafes, and pies. And they also sell coffee, beer, and bubbles to go along with your sweet treat! I had the Veruca salt cupcake which comes in a super convienant cup so I could eat half and save the other half for later. It was very moist and my only complaint was I wish it came without the pretzels! They get too soggy sitting with the cake. Hands down, my favorite bake shop in Houston. Macaron flavors that are off the wall, seasonal, and phenomenal just to start... Terrible owner. She is rude and appears to be mad when you walk in the door. It's like you are bothering her. She does not say "hello", "thanks for coming", nothing.
