Cozy, dark little coffee gem in downtown Valparaiso. Friendly staff, quick service, and a great cup of Coffee!

Amazing coffee. Truly amazing. And they now deliver! Sweet! The yogurt bowls are good breakfast fare and the baked good always look delish.

As a nationwide coffee crawler, I can say that this place is the real deal in real coffee. They are brewing Chicago's own Intelligentsia. You can get expertly made pour overs, or coffee drinks. They also do a wide variety of tea drinks. Dairy-free options are available and very tasty. They offer snacks, including these amazing balls in the cooler. They look weird, but taste very good and are gluten and dairy free. I had two of their gluten-free muffins in one weekend. (Come on now, I had to give up donuts, so give me some slack!) The atmosphere is what you would hope, hip and yet inviting. There is ample seating, with good chairs and tables to drop down and get some work done. A sketchbook is offered to leave your doodles. But you can also doodle in the restroom, chalk is provided to write on the black-painted walls. They play intriguing music, maybe a bit too loud for me to work, but, hey, I got headphones! Within the downtown area, just west of the square, there is ample street parking all around. Sadly, on a warmer than usual winter day, they were out of the locally made Indiana Kombucha. I guess I'll have to come back in the summer! If you are looking for the best real coffee house in Valpo, you have found it. Enjoy! read more

Darkness abounds in the coffee and the decor! Freaking loved this place - from the creepy clown/witch paintings by I assume to be a local artist to the two (OWNERS) behind the counter.. Iced Rocket Fuel (nitro cold brew, cream, maple syrup) -- Houston we have liftoff......!! One of the best cold brews I have had.. This place hands down has some of the best coffee that I've ever had. You can tell that they take pride in serving the best coffee around. The owners, Charles & Alison, are top notch people. They are super friendly and when you walk in to Fluid, they make you feel like you're a guest in their home. The environment here is great. I love meeting people here for coffee, but at the same time I love going there and getting some work done on my MacBook. I highly recommend this place. We first tried their coffee at an art show we attended. It was good enough to prompt us to visit their bar...because we wanted more! I loved this cafe, the customer service was great, starting with the young lady who took out orders, she was friendly and very attentive. Also the other 2 at the place were and friendly. The cafe was clean and had a very hipster yet elegant decor, beautiful photography on the walls, and lovely nicknacks on the decorative shelves, very chill. My friends and I had coffee and we all loved what we got. What appreciated the most was the options they carried for the lactose and gluten free items. I haven't got to try the pastries but from what I saw in the display they do look delicious. read more

This shop has great vibes and the baristas are really nice and friendly. The coffee is nice and strong, even the decaf! Although the drinks are pricey/comparable to a chain coffee shop it's worth it. Drinks are original and the coffee packs a punch. They also make an effort to have local companies supply their baked goods. Art shows and other events are also put on by locals. My 12 y/o son is really into coffee, especially high-end or specialty brews. He had asked me to take him to Fluid a few times, so today I surprised him and we stopped by while we were out and about in town. First of all, let me say that Fluid fits right in to downtown Valpo. It has the awesome vibe of the neighborhood. It is a good place for young hipsters as well as for 40 y/o mothers/teachers like myself. The menu gives very good descriptions so you're going to know what you get, but I have to say that when I tried my son's choice, it was fantastic. I prefer black coffee with a dash of cream, and I'm more used to the Folger's variety, so I ordered a cold brew Black Eye with a tablespoon of cream. It was stronger than I thought it was going to be, but you know, it did fit its description really well. I am not the artisan craft-brewed coffer connoisseur that my son is, but I still found it to be very good. I never ever get any kind of flavoring in my coffee because of the awful sugary aftertaste it leaves. However, after tasting my son's choice, the Voodoo Latte, I thought next time, that's what I'm getting. It was perfect. Absolutely perfect. I've never had flavored coffee that didn't taste like candied coffee. This was amazing. I'm sure we will be back because my son enjoyed his so much, and because I would like to try the Voodoo Latte myself. As for the atmosphere - it's awesome. It's the way a coffee bar should be. A darker, obviously masculine-driven ambiance greets you at the door, and the tables and chairs reminded me of something out of a medieval church. The chairs are super heavy/solid, and they match the bar stools which have a little shelf where you can drop your purse or shopping bags. In the back section are some very comfy looking leather chairs that I would have chosen if we were going to stay, but we took our coffee to go so we could beat the rain. For a warm but blustery October day (83 degrees and super windy), it was just the kind of place to go in and grab a cold brew coffee. The staff were very busy, as there was a line when we got there, but they were kind and personable with everyone who placed an order. No one was made to feel like they were being rushed so they could get to the next person in line. Both of the gentlemen there were just as pleasant as could be. I am sure they will end up taking business from Starbucks, and as well they should. Baristas at Starbucks tend to be snobby and sometimes even downright rude, but the baristas at Fluid show you that they can be super nice and serve coffee that is far better than Starbucks, and less expensive. Speaking of prices, I think the most expensive coffee was $5.50. Mine was $4.00, and my son's was $4.50. So compared with any other coffee shops we've been to, the coffee was superb for a great price! They have a somewhat small but fresh-looking selection of goodies as well. While we didn't take one this time, next time we go, we'll be sure to pick up a little treat to eat while we sit down and enjoy our coffee on site. Great job, Fluid! They were so nice about it and with no hesitation fixed the problem and i left with an amazing latte!
