Silly little cute coffee shop. The theme is funny and precious. Lots of charming cat themed decor all deserving and fitting of the name ' Flying Cat'. We order two coffee drinks and two vegan breakfast Sammie's. Drinks were great, we discovered they have interesting carry out cups. The burritos took quite a long time and even tho Service was ok. Bathrooms available and WiFi.

The paw print pillow is very on brand.

I'd like to start off by saying that if you're in a hurry, don't come here. Now that we got that out of the way, let's talk about all the reasons you SHOULD come here. - It's easy to find free street parking. - you can request a latte with paw print latte art that will make your heart swoon and will guarantee your day is going to be 500% better than it normally would have been - the person working here when I can was super nice (and they were working all alone which can't be easy) - the gender neutral restroom is clean and has the BIGGEST cat face mural on the wall - they use oatly milk - they use reusable cups - the vegan breakfast purrito is SO GOOD - the decor is cats upon cats upon cats - there's water you can help yourself to - there's indoor or outdoor seating and the outdoor seating is partially shaded - the entrance and bathroom are wheelchair accessible (no steps)

Interesting cat-themed decor and a creative drink selection. I tried the cardamom latte, which was unique, and the dirty chai, which was just okay. The café seems to aim for a "Portland weird" vibe, but for me it didn't land as well as other coffee spots in the area.

Cute little cafe we visited while visiting Portland! It was dainty, cute aesthetic for pictures of the cafe & good food! We got the purr-ito & bagel and it was good and kept us full until dinner! Around 10:30am it was not busy on a sunday. You also can walk around on division street and visit other shops or walk a short distance to Hawthorne Blvd where all the other great shops and places to eat are at! Our servers were working nothing out of the ordinary. So cool place to see!

I enjoyed my recent visit to Flying Cat Coffee. It has a cozy interior and some tables outside. They have some breakfast burritos and sandwiches with cat names. They also have bagels and some pastries. The cat decor is fun to look at. I had the rose cardamom chai latte iced. It was one of their summer special drinks. My drink was refreshing and sweet. I liked it. Service was good. It was a good cafe experience and I will revisit.

Good coffee and theme . Food was also tasty. I like the zucchini bread too. Vegan options available.

Flying Cat has unique cat-themed decor, great drinks, and kind staff - I'm a fan! We stopped by on 9/6/2020 while driving through Portland and looking for some caffeine for the day. First impression of the interior was that the decor is rather quirky, but I was actually quite impressed at how many flying cats I spotted in the shop while waiting for my drink. No inside seating available due to the COVID-19 pandemic. DRINKS: + Suphalak smoothie (cold brew coffee, banana, cinnamon, almond butter, peanut butter, chia seeds): all of the combos on the smoothie menu sounded pretty interesting, and I had a hard time choosing. I ended up picking this one for the coffee. First impression was that it was certainly interesting - I wasn't quite sure I liked it; but after a few more sips, it grew on me. Strong coffee flavor. Not overly sweet which I appreciated. And it felt healthy while also indulgent. + Iced matcha latte: this was creamy and had a strong matcha flavor. Perfect for a hot summer afternoon. I'd get this again! + Iced latte: I didn't try this, but J enjoyed it.

This place is so cute! There's lots of cat themed vintage items and lots of really fun and comfy furniture to sit in. It's a pretty good place to study too - the music is ambient enough to tune out and lots of other folks are working/studying. There are lots of food items you can get and lots of flavored coffee. I stuck with a trusty oat milk latte. The espresso was very smooth and the foam was decorated with a cute paw print. Definitely recommend!

Anyone who likes cats should visit this adorable coffee shop at least once. The visit is worth it just to be amused by all the cat themed art and objects that are everywhere you look. Aside from the feline amusement of this place, the coffee and food sold here are also worthy of attention. The menu offers a variety of vegan and vegetarian sandwiches along with coffee drinks, tea and smoothies. The seating inside the shop is an assortment of sofas and chairs that seem to have landed here from a group of yard sales. Somehow this mix of furniture just adds to the charm of this place. It is a nice change from all the glitzy coffee shops that are trending today's market. If you find yourself in the area, its worth stopping by the Flying Cat. It'll make your day.

Super cute and quirky coffee shop with AMAZING food and coffee! All of the cat decorations were adorable. The sofas & pillows added a cozy feel and soothing classical music was playing. The back of the cafe has tons of board games like scrabble, catan, twister, etc! There was just one guy here this morning making everything from scratch and he was killing it. I came specifically for the pumpkin spice latte and my craving was satisfied. I could really taste the real pumpkin and I liked that it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet like some are (Starbucks). The food menu looked so good that I also got the ocelot purr-ito with egg and no cheese. It was MASSIVE and packed full of delicious ingredients! The soyrizo was so tender and flavorful, the hash browns melted in my mouth, everything was cooked to perfection and the avocado was a perfect addition. Great little cafe esp if you like cats! 10/10 would recommend the pumpkin spice latte.

    Flying cat ahead!!

Breakfast sandwich was short on products used. In my opinion a little over priced for what you get. Also got a smoothie, that was good.

When I don't know what to do with my day, or I have work to catch up on, I go to Tov and go from there. Drink-wise, I often go for a Mucho Caliente, the "Mushit," a mushroom-based chai invention, or a Rose Mocha. I've had mochas all over and none compares to the way Joe and his staff concoct the drinks at Tov. The chocolatey-ness, viscosity, mouthfeel, flavor, sippability, sweetness, always satisfy my palate, and the balance of coffee to other flavors is always to my preference. Their drinks are decadent and may take a bit longer to make than expected, and I find it is well worth the wait. I enjoy getting comfortable on Joe's very colorful red cushions, taking in the purple Egyptian vibes within and the eccentric vibrancy that is Hawthorne outside. Fun fact: Joe doesn't believe in plain old ice, and instead he freezes cubes of milk! The cubes stratify into discrete layers that are fun to crunch through, reminiscent of the layers of baklava. Very enjoyable for someone who normally avoids ice or chewing on ice.

Located on Hawthorne just past the curve at 50th, they've got plenty of free street parking in the nearby blocks. The latte art was on point, the cold brew was most definitely strong, cafe au lait was milky and foamy in the best way, and the americano drinks were fabulous. While their hours (#4) aren't particularly suited for after-work hours, they do an excellent job of keeping their space clean and the vibes low key throughout the morning and afternoon. Their shop is very curated and is definitely has a "recently here because of gentrification vibe." However, I know it's been in Portland for a while and locals swear by it. With shops like these I find it easy to focus and work. The minimalist and industrial decor is a great place for adhd brains like mine. I was warmly greeted by someone at the register. I was interested in so many choices on their matcha. Horchata iced coffe, orange latte, strawberry Ube matcha. I asked the barista if they do exchanges or remakes for drink if the customer dislikes what they ordered. She mentioned they have a NO REMAKES policy. I knew it was time to lock in instead of trying something Willynilly. She was super patient with me as I wondered what to get and discussed my hesitations. She let me sample a tiny amount of the strawberry uber syrup and lavender to make my decision and it helped. I ended up getting and iced lavender matcha and didn't regret it at all. It's been hard for me to find good matcha in Portland and they didn't disappoint. The syrup was blended in well. The flavor of the matcha wasn't too grassy, bitter or powdery. I'm sad it's a seasonal drink because I'll Miss it. I also got an almond croissant, which was good but not mind blowing. I think I'll try the banana bread next time. They have a bathroom, 1 booth, bench seating and wall seating. It would be a bit of a challenge to bring a group larger than 3 here as they're small and busy. Maybe if you sat outside.
