I had a fried shrimp poboy and a cup of gumbo. The gumbo had a good roux but was rather bland. The Shirmp Poboy's shrimp was butterflied and excessively flattened. The batter was very bland. Flattening the shrimp to this degree (without an enhanced batter) takes a lot of flavor out of the shrimp. thus my poboy wasn't very good. Oh well. That's the fun of reviewing ! read more

I have had the fried catfish basket, mudbugs ( when in season), and today having the grilled catfish (snappy), comes with red beans and rice and grilled veggies, but I substituted the veggies with green beans. I don't know if I've ever been as nervous standing in line to order food as I was at Flying Fish. Everything looked incredible, and since I'm rarely in Little Rock I didn't want to make a mistake. I went with the grilled grouper and a cup of gumbo and needless to say, my fears were alleviated. Everything was incredible, yet somehow the least thought about things -- grilled zucchini and squash -- might have been my favorite. I love everything about this place.
