Flying M is a Boise gem! I love to take visitors to Boise here mostly because of the iconic gift shop attached. It's a really fun and hip place to grab a coffee and meet with a friend. In college, this was one of my favorite spots to study at or meet up with a group for a project. Pre-covid there were a lot of big tables that you could plug into and get lots of work done! There are still a few tables that you can sit at now but it is obviously catered towards smaller groups of people. Another great perk of Flying M is that there is a parking lot in the back, something truly rare downtown! The coffee, espresso drinks, teas, and pastry treats are all very good. I usually get a latte with almond milk and lavender syrup. I have had their no-bake cookie, which I believe is vegan and is made of oatmeal and peanut butter. It tastes like it was home-made with lots of love. I love all of their non-dairy and vegan options here, anyone and everyone can enjoy something here! What really makes this place great are the people who work here and the values that the company has. This space and its people are inclusive and welcoming to all. read more

Mazing little warm place! This is a cute but homie and so much to see and buy! Lol Besides the Cafe, pastries this is also home to a cute shop that has so many unique and interesting thing for those cool fun people in your life or just for your self! But yes, I loved my cappuccino with soy milk and my huge fresh pretzel with a delicious mustard seed side. My daughter got a ham and cheese breakfast croissant, apple juice and water bottle because that is needed in her life lol. Anywho, I recommend this place they require you to wear a mask, I really do appreciate that. The two gentlemen behind the counter, look like they are enjoying making our daily boaters and you might hear them sing the songs playing, my daughter enjoyed that very much. They have some tables, and a few customers were sitting and enjoying their food. Fun, hip and warm is how I would describe this place. I'm not a huge coffee person I keep it simple and get a dirty chai -- 9 out of 10 times so hard to mess that up. I would say they did a good job making it. They had so much more than coffee however, they sell teas, juices, and other merchandise. The space was open and not all crowded which I enjoyed. read more

moved to boise recently and this place quickly became one of my favorite local spots. amazing coffee and food (including great vegan pastry options! the vegan chocolate cake i had here last weekend blew my mind!), but to me the most important part of any coffee shop is their matcha. the M in "Flying M" should stand for "matcha". it's so good. and there are so many ways to customize your drink! i personally love an iced matcha latte with honey and oat milk. food and drink aside, the ambiance is incredible; super cozy, lots of good seating and decor, and the cutest gift shop in the world! i come here almost every weekend if i can. literally the perfect, charming little addition to the downtown area. 10/10 read more

To be fully transparent - I've never actually been here, I've never even been to Boise. However, my boyfriend used to bring back their house blend when he went on work trips to Boise. He would do this with coffee shops around the country, but the Flying M house roast has stood out from every other coffee shop we've tried, so much so that we now order their 5 lb bags to our house in Utah since he rarely goes there on work trips anymore. The Atmosphere: the vibe when you walk in is incredible. I loved how everything was set up, and it was all extremely inviting. The Food: the snacks I got there were good. Sadly my drinks did not match the environment. I did not love my chai, it didn't have much flavor. The others in my party did enjoy their drinks. If I am every back in town I will order differently. Just kidding, the tweens take the cake in the frightening department. There is a small nook just for little kids and I've never seen a coffeeshop with one before. I like the concept. I would usually avoid this much chaos but they're one of the only coffee places open late that serve an excellent latte. Almond milk latte on a green couch My favorite seat in the house to sip a latte is the green couch, it's got personality. The lattes are consistently fantastic despite the cluster muck that is this place. The baristas are very nice and the baked goods are a mixed bag. They aren't terrible, I just have high standards for baked goods and more often than not, theirs are too dry. I just want a pretty fern My only actual complaint is the latte art. I get hearts. Every. My mom, sister, and I were searching for a coffee place to go to as we were walking around in downtown boise. We discovered the Flying M Coffeehouse and instantly fell in love. They have the best employees who know how to make you feel welcome and at home. Also there is an amazing small gift shop with fun little knick knacks and goodies to peruse as you're sipping you're coffee. The atmosphere is perfect for doing work or homework as well as meeting up with friends since they have indoor and outdoor seating. This place is full of color and fun! An unpretentious and funky, all people are welcome vibe coffee house with a truly neighborhood sensibility that I wish was closer to my neighborhood because I'd go in often. DRINKS & EATS I have not strayed from black coffee or Americano, although they make all kinds of coffee / espresso beverages. The coffee is good. The Americano is really good. Baked goods are created in house. I am a fan of their biscotti in particular. Can you say "share" boys and girls? Of course you can. And you should plan to do that if you choose a cinnamon roll as your goody because they are big. The guy sitting next to my hubby and me this morning paused on his way out to say, "I admire the way the two of you are working as a team to attack that roll." I laughed and told him "Pull up a fork, there is plenty for three." And here's a tip; the cinnamon rolls often sell out by 10:30 a.m. There is a sour cream chocolate sheet cake that seems to be a signature / staple and I hear it calling my name every time I'm here. Maybe next time I'll succumb to the Siren's song. Calories be damned. Prices are reasonable. THE DRILL & SERVICE Stand in line, place your order, wait while they make the beverage and plate up your eats. Then carry it to your table. Bus your own when done. SEATING & VIBE Seating is at tables and chairs, all standard height on the main level and also up one step to a raised seating area. There is counter seating that is also standard height with chairs, another high counter height table with stools and a sofa near the front door. In the mode of all people being welcome here, let me say I wish I had my phone to take a shot of the cars in the parking lot the day before yesterday. Left to right in the first three spaces : a) car with Trump bumper sticker...next to that b) car with Obama 2012 bumper sticker...and one car over from that c) a car with Bernie 2016 window sticker. To be truthful, I imagine it might be a tad uncomfortable for anyone transferring that Trump sticker from car bumper to themselves and walking in here. This feels more 4th Street Berkeley than Main Street Coeur d'Alene for audience. Still, there seems a sense of grace filled detente here and people from all stages in and walks of life. Given Flying M was my very first review (ever!!) waaaaay back in July of 2008, I think, perhaps, it's high time for an update. Are they still serving up one of the best cups of fabulousness in all of Boise? Check. Are their baristas still friendly, accommodating, lovely, and practiced in the art of all things espresso (including creating beautiful leafy latte art)? Check. Is the ambiance still eclectic bordering on the bohemian? Ehhh... Eclectic, yes. But, if you've not been in a bit, and if their previously mismatched chairs and tables weren't to your liking, by all means go back. They've forfeited the unmatched tables and chairs for newer tables and more uniform chairs. But, don't fret--the overall ambiance still retains its casual eclectic coziness. If anything, it seems to have increased the number of people they can accommodate (which, given their popularity, is a very good thing!), Flying M remains one of my favorite spots in town. And, if you adore good coffee in a casual atmosphere--it's sure to be one of yours as well. Get to it! read more

Love love love the Flying M. Was here for first Thursday 10/6/16 and the place was warm and cozy, our barristas made us perfect drinks. Selection on the menu is good, but they can also make you specialty drinks that aren't on the menu too. I told the artists making my drink this was where I met my husband 8 years ago and he put a heart in the top of my drink. I love this little quirky coffee shop, I love the little gift shop inside. I love the location. Parking is pretty easy if you get there before the busyness of first Thursday. I love the friendly staff and their ability to do the small things to make your day better.
