The place which is on a roll is Fisherman's Wharf. There are lots of places which are opening which are good places to eat. You have the Saigon sandwiches which has been serving one of the best banh mi's in SF. There is Everett and Jones serving delicious American BBQ. There is even American fast food chainstore serving fried chicken Raising Canes. One thing Fisherman's Wharf is known for is fish and seafood. What is really rare is finding sushi place. There is a place at Fisherman's Wharf selling sushi on Jefferson street and it's Flying Ninja. On a San Francisco stroll at Fisherman's Wharf as looking for some sushi. It will only make sense there would be many more sushi places since the fish markets are just a stones throw away. I landed at Flying Ninja hidden on Jefferson street at San Francisco tourist trap. Flying Ninja is a Japanese- Korean restaurant. Inside there is plenty of outdoor seating. I had the bento box with Tonkatsu, California roll and Bulgogi beef. The bento box was delicious and the bulgogi was not too salty like some in SF. I then got the San Francisco roll and it was tasty. It had shrimp tempura with cheese cream with strawberry , avocado, and mango on top. Overall it was a good place to get sushi at the tourist trap and get a San Francisco roll from a restaurant with food from the land of the rising sun and the land of the morning calm in the land of the free. Did a quick trip to the Fisherman's Wharf with my Wife and we decided to go grab some sushi. This one wasn't a far walk for us so we decided to give it a shot. Arrived and it wasn't the cleanest restaurant but not terrible. We were sat down quickly and the waitress was quick and polite. I order a nigiri set which came with a delicious miso soup. My Wife had one of their specialty rolls. The roll was okay but wasn't really anything to write home about. My biggest issue was with the nigiri set. The fish did not taste fresh. Almost seemed like generic supermarket fish. It wasn't bad or spoiled just not great. I wouldn't tell anyone not to come here but based on what I got I probably wont return. read more

The neighborhood was pretty quiet when I visited, but the moment I sat at the bar I was greeted so warmly. The staff were genuinely kind, polite, and so sweet. A Disappointing Experience at Flying Ninja We had walked by Flying Ninja many times over the last few months and always wanted to try it. Finally, we got the chance to do a takeout. I stopped by the menu outside for a glance and was pleasantly welcomed by the lady and gentleman working there. The menu looked very inviting. I decided on a Sherek Roll and their Salmon Special, which came with a few pieces of nigiri, sashimi, and something else I do not recall. I had read the reviews, and I was hoping for a pleasant experience, but we were disappointed. The fish did not taste fresh at all, and we did not finish either dish because it just did not feel right. As mentioned above, I had read other fellow Yelpers' reviews and ratings, so I am guessing Flying Ninja had a bad day on that date. As for the environment, the outside seating area looked fine, but when I walked in, the tables and the counter were a bit messy, so if we were to eat there, I would not sit inside. I am giving them a three-star rating instead of two to account for the possibility that this was one of those bad-timing situations, and things are usually much better. read more

Was in SF for the weekend for an Alcatraz/Golden Gate swim event, staying in a hotel at Fisherman's Wharf. This is an annual event and we have done this for many years since I was diagnosed with celiac disease (coming into 16 years now). For whatever reason, this trip has been especially difficult finding places that have GF (more than a salad or steamed vegetables, and not just pizza). I have gotten attitude from multiple places and then gotten severely glutened. By the time we came to Flying Ninja, I was pretty worried that it would happened again. Let me just shout from the rooftops: **THE OWNERS OF FLYING NINJA ARE VERY WELL VERSED IN GLUTEN FREE AND WHAT GLUTEN IS!!** This was SO reassuring!! There's nothing that makes a person with celiac more nervous than asking if something is GF and the response being "well, it has meat" or "it has cheese". They were quick to let me know which items had gluten and after we ordered, we realized the roll my husband got had imitation crab (which theirs has gluten), and since we wanted to share everything, we let them know. The lady (who I assume is co-owner) ran back to the kitchen yelling "stop! Stop! Gluten!" and then let us know alternative rolls to get. The pieces of fish were generous and tasty. And of course they had GF soy sauce. What we ordered: Hamachi Kama (grilled yellowtail cheek) - delicious! Negihama Roll (Yellowtail + green onion) Alaska Roll (Salmon + avocado) Cherry Blossom Roll (salmon + avocado inside, tuna outside) Tl;dr SAFE FOR CELIACS/GF! Delicious and generously portioned fish! Stumbled upon this place while walking in Fisherman's Wharf and decided to give it a try. I'm pretty picky with sushi, but decided to give this place a try and was pleasantly surprised. My boyfriend and I were the only ones there and were seated immediately. He started off with the miso soup, which was served right away. He also got the rainbow roll and a spicy tuna handroll. I started off with the gyoza and then got the Shrek roll. The gyoza was hot and cooked perfectly, not overly fried or greasy. All of the fish was really fresh and delicious. The avocado on my Shrek roll was generously portioned and fresh! I also loved the sauce on the roll. The portions were great for the price, and we left feeling really satisfied with our meal. I was pleased to see it was still open and thriving. The sushi chef is always so friendly. He greets guests as they walk in with a smile from ear to ear. It's an authentic welcome! The outdoor setup was decked out in twinkly lights and brought a nice ambiance to compliment the delicious food! We got to try a few rolls, including the Flying Ninja, the sashimi combo, calamari, gyoza, and the fried tofu (which was a highlight). Also had the privilege of trying the gyudon-style bbq beef with rice which was very tasty. The sashimi was buttery fresh and I loved the unique roll combinations. The place is beautiful from the outside and it is very warm and welcoming. I was expecting this place to be more of a fun atmosphere sort to say. Do not get me wrong, the service from the lady was good, she was super sweet. The food was nothing out of the world. I have tried better sushi' and my boyfriend has also tried better ones and he is the sushi expert here. We got the "Ghirardelli Roll", "Stuffed Jalapeños", and the "Yakisoba Noodles". The stuffed jalapeño with cream cheese was definitely the star of the our restaurant experience. Although it came with only 4 slices, the slices were delicious and would order them again. Going into the sushi roll, I have nothing much to say. I am sure there were better sushi rolls on their menu but that one was recommended by the waiter herself. Lastly, the. noodles were alright. We added beef to ours and it only had like 6 pieces scrambled around. In the end, I believe anyone might enjoy this restaurant but this is probably a restaurant we would not go back to. Flying Ninja is a cute little sushi place near Ghiradelli square. They have a nice outdoor seating area with some greenery for a bit of outdoorsy feel. I think their prices are a little high compared to some places I have been to but their food was pretty good. I did not get much raw fish dishes so I can't comment on that. I enjoyed the rolls and appetizers that we did order though. As a tip, if you enjoy deep fried rolls, you can ask them to deep fry any of their Maki rolls! Service was friendly and quick.
