This was the first time eating here, and it will be the last. I will never even attempt it again it was a joke. As soon as the phone was answered I was asked if I could hold, I'm OK with that and I said yes. It was not too long later someone pick up the receiver took my name, asked if it was for delivery or take out, took up my phone number. Then, all of a sudden they were some how unable to understand me. It was not an issue before. I literally spent 19 minutes on the phone to order two pizzas. About 12 of that I was on hold the entire time. The lady said she couldn't hear me and after about 15 times of me repeating out my address and spelling out my address she asked me to wait while she grabbed her floor lead, and I waited on hold for like seven more minutes and then he picked up, got my address, and asked me to hold well he got The manager to approve it (approve what?) and I waited a whole bunch of more minutes. 19 minutes to order 2 simple pizzas and then an additional 70 minutes to wait for it to be cooked and delivered. Such a madhouse joke. The pizza was good, so I will bump it up to two stars. I was only going To give one star for customer service. Ordered 2 pizzas and bread sticks thru DoorDash. Bad idea. We received one of two pizzas and raw bread sticks. I Called Flying Pie, and was told by the shift leader that (there was no manager available), that because I ordered thru DoorDash, it was not Flying Pies problem. He also told me, "I know how many pizzas were picked up, because I made them and gave them to the driver." The DoorDasher looked genuinely surprised to me when I told her a pizza was missing. I'm not sure what happened to the order and I don't care; During these times when we can't go to a sit down restaurant and must depend upon take out or delivery, Don't you think the restaurants should step up their game in the customer service area? Well this is why... I will no longer do business with either DoorDash or Flying Pie. (This was strike three for both). This was our favorite pizza place for a number of years..not sure what happened, but after yesterday we will not be going back..the past few times we have eaten there it has been so-so..one time was even a little burnt. So yesterday was Halloween. I expected they would be busy so I placed an order for 2 medium pizzas online in the morning sometime between 10-11 to be ready at 5:15. My husband went to pick up right around 5:15 and they had not even started making it! They were not apologetic, just said they were busy, turning people away..told him to come back in 20 minutes and they were getting it started. He came back 40 minutes later to give them extra time and was told again they had just started making it! Never apologized, just talked about how short staffed they were. I totally get that, but the way this was handled was wrong. If you knew you were short staffed at anytime during the day someone could have called and advised our order would be late or something..not a word..we ended up canceling and getting something else..:( read more

Never again at this location. I called two weeks in advance for a reservation for 10-15 people. I called 4 hours in advance to confirm and place our order. The problems started with the tiny parking lot, forcing us to park 2 or 3 businesses over (which I'm sure those businesses didn't appreciate, either.) Inside we were seated at two booths with backs to each other. (You think with a two-week notice they would have saved us a long table.) We sat for a while before someone came over and said we'd need to order beverages at the counter, so we had to wait in a slow line to do that. The pizzas came out 15-20 minutes later than promised, and the salads we ordered came out another 15-20 minutes after that. It was another 10 minutes before we had dressing, which didn't really matter because they were out of forks. "All our forks are being used right now." They said they were washing some, but couldn't tell me if that would take 10 minutes or 30 minutes. I finally flagged down someone in the kitchen to give us plastic forks, and we received enough for 8/10 people to eat salad. And that sums up our experience. I don't know if this location is poorly managed or understaffed or what, but it was absolutely not what I have come to expect from Flying Pie. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. This review is based on the manager and staff and not on the food. We ordered food for delivery with a delivery service. When the delivery driver got there the staff told her that they forgot to do my order. The manager at Flying Pie then told the driver to delete/cancel my order and that it's the customers problem. The driver then called me and told me what the manager had said. So I called and spoke with the manager she informed me that they were really busy. I told her I understood but my order shouldn't be cancelled and my money kept. She started laughing and said that it was my problem and that no refund would be given. Not sure how them keeping my money and not completing my order is my fault. Will never return. Plenty of other pizza places in the treasure valley with amazing customer service. read more

Ordered a 14" Triple Pie to go. Was really cheesy and full of different bits of meat, not like loaded, but adequate. And I enjoyed the heat, as it was just the right amount I wanted. The crust was really tasty, almost sweet! Service was very friendly from everyone I encountered. But mainly my five star review is for their homemade ranch dressing. I asked for some to dip my pizza in and guuhhhhhhh....it was DELICIOUS! Made me very, very happy. If you are a ranch dressing fan, this place will deliver. Took a friend to the restaurant and my autistic son was wearing his Trump 2020 ball cap. The individual behind the counter ignored us and when I asked for help she refused and got someone else to take our order. When the pizza was cooked she wouldn't deliver it and again got someone else to do the work. Now, during this time she moved though the dining room asking everyone if they needed anything and how their meal was but refused to even talk to us. To start off, I have eaten flying pie multiple times, through delivery, take out, and dine in. Due to having moved out of their delivery range a little over two years ago we started doing take-out much more frequently. The taste of everything is great. My complaints are regarding the phone and in-store customer service. When trying to call in an order I usually have to call several times before anybody even picks up. It doesn't matter what night of the week it is. The day after Christmas I called around five times and never got one answer. It was on my way home from work so I stopped in to place the to-go order. With the girl that took my order, I let her know I called numerous times and no answered; and her only response was "yeah we were too busy to answer the phone." Sad customer service. For the price of the food, this response is frustrating. Especially when it is getting harder and harder to come pick up the food because no one answers the phone. I have also noticed the in-store customer service getting worse and worse at the bar. Unfortunately a majority of the floor employees seem annoyed to have to work. Food is good but don't expect any quality customer service. I apologize to those at the establishment that do work hard because you are overshadowed by those who don't. read more

I've had the distinct displeasure of dining here recently, because I learned the hard way that Flying Pie has the most unorganized service model of ANY restaurant that I've been to in the 1 1/2 years I've lived in Meridian. The decision to go there was purely out of convenience, a decision that ended up being one of the most inconvenient dining experiences I've had in years. When you enter the restaurant, you may or may not have someone manning the "Order Here" area. You might even watch them leave to go do something else seconds before you walk up to the counter, even though they clearly see you coming. "Another customer?! Run away... aaahhhh!" Should this be your fate, plan on waiting at least 3 real-time minutes before someone acknowledges your presence and another 3 (for a total of 6) minutes before someone takes your order. And once you've paid for your meal that's when they spring on you with the, "your pizza will be out in about 45 minutes." At this point, just smack yourself for not leaving to go eat at KFC next door. If you can still see straight, take the oversized playing card (which I thought represented my order "number" but in hindsight realized that it was a resemblance of how the house always wins and the odds were stacked against me) and go seat yourself. To pass the time, because you will have a lot of it pass, I encourage you to observe the staff. Because in my experience, every time I watched the staff (and I do mean EVERY time), at least one person, and occasionally the entire staff in unison, looked completely and utterly confused. I seriously watched a server walk around like the undead for a solid one and a half minutes with a basket of breadsticks. Oops, I mean "pizza buddies." (Someone from the open kitchen annoyingly yells "pizza buddies!" every few minutes.) After which, your form of entertainment is placing wagers as to whether the shoe leather and tomato paste belong to you or not, as the server attempts to find out what table is supposed to have it. Ordering the AYCE salad bar was probably the only wise decision I made. No. Not because I thoroughly enjoyed the wilted spring mix or the general salad bar unkempt-ness. But because I was able to put something in my stomach during the debacle. By the time the pizza did arrive, I simply asked if I could have it to-go. So just in case your wondering, "was it worth the wait?" If you couldn't already tell by my twinkle, twinkle little one-star rating, the food, while somewhat creative ingredient-wise, wasn't very stellar in taste or texture. Mostly, my distaste is toward the dough. There's simply nothing to enjoy about shoe leather... ...or more than twice the necessary wait time to receive said leather. read more

We held my daughter' 8th birthday party here and what a great experience! Staff was nice, kids had a blast, and Lexie was amazing with the kiddos; gave them the "pizza tour", helped them make their pizzas, was patient and sweet, and the game area was great too. I was looking for a place to eat lunch with my wife halfway between her work and mine (meridian). Saw Flying pie on yelp and decided to try it. My son raves about this place so I had to try it. It was really GOOD!!! The lunch special was a pizza buffet with salad bar for $7.50. The pizzas were amazing with plenty of toppings and melted cheese. The more the lunch crowd showed up, the quicker they put out pizzas. There were 6 different kinds of pizzas and there were always three of them out at any given time. Even as many people seemed to get up at the same time and rush the buffet, there were still plenty of choices for everyone. By the time we left the place was completely packed, which isn't surprising, given the quality of food! We just found a place to meet for lunch from now on. read more

I came to try the lunch salad and pizza buffet with my husband, it was my first visit and his second. We were there about 11:35am and no pizza was on the buffet at that time. We started with the salad bar, everything was fresh and they had lots of great options. However, after we finished the salad they finally put two pizzas out. It went fast because the restaurant was busy. It wasn't until around 12:15 when the pizzas started coming out in quantity to feed a busy restaurant. Right about the time we had already finished filling up on salad, and had to get back to work. My recommendation is that if you are going to sell the salad and pizza bar, have it stocked for a restaurant full of hungry and in a hurry lunch patrons. I would have given 4 stars, but we didn't really get to try much pizza. My husband said the same thing happened on his first visit, but was willing to try again. Not terrible but nothing exciting. We make our annual trek to Flying Pie every August for the Habanero Pizza and now that it's August, our trip is completed. We were in the Meridian area and thought we'd visit the Meridian location. Place was cleaner than I expected. I really enjoyed the layout of the building. Pizza took about 30 minutes but they supplemented our waiting with free breadsticks (YAY!!). The pizza was great! I've been disappointed with Flying Pie in the past but this time was much better. The only down side was the inattentive staff. The two women making the pizzas were like machines cranking out pizza after pizza. However, the wait staff were more just hanging out and chatting. Had to find our server to ask questions. I won't let this experience taint my future visit. I liked this Flying Pie and I liked the location. We'll be back again for sure. read more

All right, we should have known when we walked in the door and were greeted by the same foul aroma as pizza hut that we should turn around. But we were in the process of moving to Idaho, we were really hungry and wanted a beer. And to be honest, we thought it was fun that people were dressed as pirates for "talk like a pirate day". They even had a special beer brewed for them by a local brewery that wasn't half bad. That made me really hope that they might have some quality food. The menu had some interesting combinations. And at $18 for a medium pizza, they should have decent ingredients. There were free breadsticks, and you get half off a second pie. We both love leftover pizza, so we decided to get two 14" pizzas, and a large house salad. The salad came first, after waiting for twenty minutes or so. Iceberg lettuce and a few Cisco veggies on top. For six bucks I thought it would either be bigger or have a lot more veggies. My girlfriend went to get us more beer at the bar where she had to show her ID a second time, and got hassled about who the other beer was for. She's 35, I'm 32. The breadsticks came, and all I can say is that Little Caesar's are better and the thick, sour sauce they came with was just bad. So, the pizzas. The bbq chicken was the better of the two. It had "chicken" on it that was the texture of chicken mcnuggets. Rubbery chicken bits pressed into a loaf and cut into strips. The other one had pesto, artichoke hearts, tomatoes, etc. It was so sour and nasty that we didn't even want to take it with us for leftovers. The final blow was getting the bill. I had them print it out itemized for me because I couldn't believe it was right. The culprit? The beers, which don't show a price on the menu, were $6 each! I'd be upset at that price if they were 20 oz pints. These were 16 oz. We left $50 poorer, feeling ripped off. Welcome to Idaho! read more

Definitely dug this place...rather hipster-ish and way, way reminiscent of Este Sugarhouse in Salt Lake, but I liked it a lot despite all that...pizza here is definitely a lot better, as is beer selection. This may wind up being one of my more regular haunts as I slog my way through more of their menu (I think I may need to heavily modify next time I'm there), but so far, I have no cause at all for complaint and much to celebrate. It's interesting to me that the environments of the various locations are different, sometimes vastly, yet all have their own unique and innate charm. Whoever is running these is doing a phenomenal job, so props there. One thing of note here...the ordering system is extremely clunky and seemingly disorganized and I sort of dislike it. Not enough to stop coming here, since I really dig the vibe of these, but on one of my less patient nights, that sort of thing may be enough to cut this out of the running. One star deducted for one reason, and I wish I could just deduct half: WAY too much garlic! I like garlic, but some bites bordered on overpowering. This could probably be remedied by simply asking them to go a little easy on the garlic. We wandered in on a Thursday evening and it wasn't too busy yet. The guy at the counter (James) was extremely friendly and explained their system to us. He recommended a pizza size that ended up being plenty (we had leftovers!) and we got free breadsticks to munch on while waiting for our order. The pizza (other than the aforementioned garlic issue) was perfect. The crust was just the right amount of chewy with great flavor. The cheese was just the right amount of stringy, and the chicken was tender and well-flavored. (And I've had a chicken aversion since I got pregnant!) All this for a VERY reasonable price! Excited to experience Flying Pie Pizzaria, but treated rudely by young teenybopper who didn't want to take our order. No one was there other than a couple of people playing pool way in the back. We ordered the pesto primavera, which was fresh and crispy, but burned. Took over 35 minutes to get our order brought to us. The breadsticks were fresh and hot, but hardly cut into pieces we could pull apart. The salad bar was surprisingly good; however, there were FLIES hovering over the food, arbitrarily attacking the exposed offerings. My review tonight is not on the food but ability to place an order. Several weeks ago, I tried to call an order in and could not get through on the phones so my husband went to the restaurant. He stood at the area to order and no one approached him at all. He waited about 5-10 minutes and no one approached so he left. Tonight I called to order...my first few attempts I received a busy signal. I finally got a ringing line and was asked to please hold. I was put on hold for 14 minutes and no one returned to my call. I hung up. I hate to leave negative reviews. I have been in Food & Beverage business for 20 years. I understand the business from all positions. However, I don't understand failing your customer at this level and making placing an order this difficult and frustrating on more than one occasion. read more

It's been said many times, but it's worth repeating. Flying pie is not your conventional business. You can say it is very eclectic. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I've never felt unwelcome, but I have felt like I stood out or didn't belong. Like I wasn't part of the correct crowd. The pizzas are good, but I've had some that didn't taste great. I'd say that is more a lack of menu knowledge than anything. I went today for the name of the day. I actually got my exact name which means free pizza. You also can make your own behind the counter, but they said they were too busy to take me. I'll admit I was a tad disappointed. Overall I enjoyed my time here. Went on Tuesday night for the gourmet pizza night! Cost my husband and I $20 for all you can eat pizza, drinks & salad! Not too shabby!
